Clottey's "hot"? For losing a close fight or for fading the last two rounds (and being roundly criticized for it)? And who would it improve Williams' status with?
kohl's word is worth shit. his actions in the past lead me to believe he's selling wolf tickets. clottey is hot right now cuz plenty of people think he beat cotto. in fact almost everyone I spoke to recently about that fight said as much.
REED Put "Hot" N QUOTATIONS for a Reason, Dude:boohoo:...Clottey's MORE KNOWN than Dzinzruk, that's for CERTAIN...He's Been in NOTABLE, TEVEVISED Fights Against Margarito, Zab, Corrales & Now Cotto...If Williams Can Somehow DOMINATE a Guy like that, Something NOBODY Else has EVER Done, it would IMPROVE his Status... Why Don't YOU Sell Us on Dzinzruk???...& NO, "Unification" ISN'T a Selling Point... REED:mj:
Then expose Kohl if he's lying. Anectodal evidence is hardly compelling, but just to play along, how many is "almost everyone"? And what's the breakdown of non-boxing fans, casual fans, avid fans, insiders, etc.? Clottey's got just about as many detractors, if not more, than he's got supporters...among boxing fans. Clottey ain't hot with anyone and he certainly won't be in three or four months time.
Just so I'm clear, your "argument" for a Clottey is a marketing one? You've now replaced Al Haymon and Dan Goossen and are doing their jobs for them? And in doing so, you've concluded that Clottey is a ticket-seller and he's going to deliver Williams Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley? Even in your "argument" for Clottey, you're not even talking about what it does for him if he wins, but "If Williams Can Somehow DOMINATE". That kinda says all it needs to about the relevance of the fight.
Clottey is not hot at all, or whatever you want to call it. Sorry but even though the Cotto fight was close, and Clottey can clearly fight, he's a boring, negative fighter that tried to bitch out a handful of times in the Cotto fight. I doubt too many people are going to be excited to see him again, seriously. Zinnyzirik might not exactly be a household name, but at least it would be considered a very solid win by the hardcore boxing fans, and should be 1 step closer to being unified champ, and getting some money fights.
This is What REED DISLIKES about Debating w/U, Dude...U NEVER Take REED's Words AS THEY'RE PRESENTED TO YOU & U NEVER Actually ADDRESS the Fucking Points REED Makes...The SAD Part is, U THINK your EVASIVE BULLSHIT Makes U Look "Clever", but it DOESN'T:shit:... WHEN Did REED Call Clottey a "Ticket Seller"????...& WHEN Did REED Say that a Clottey Win "Delivers" Pac, Cotto or Mosley to Paul Williams???....1 Things for CERTAIN, U Damn Sure CANNOT Call Dzinzruk a "Ticket Seller" OR a "Deliverer" of BIG Name Welter Fights for Williams:nono:... Which Brings Us Back to THE POINT REED's BEEN ILLUSTRATING ALL ALONG, Dog...Clottey's MORE of a KNOWN COMMODITY than Dzinzruk...Can YOU DENY That???...Even if Only SLIGHTLY, Can YOU DENY that a Clottey WIN Places Williams CLOSER to Big Fights than a Win Over Dzinzruk Would???...Can YOU DENY that Clottey has Fought BETTER Fighters Overall???... If U CAN'T Answer the Questions POSED, Don't even Bother Replying... REED:boohoo:
He's WARMER than Dzinzruk is, Mex....Since WHEN have Hardcore Fans DETERMINED Money Fights???...Clottey's Fought Baldomir, Margarito, Corrales, Zab AND Cotto & has Been COMPETITIVE w/OR BEATEN All of them...NONE of them can Say they DOMINATED Clottey... Even Hardcore Fans would B MORE Impressed w/a DOMINANT Win Over Clottey, than a Unification w/Dzinzruk... REED:mj:
Name something tangible Clottey's "known"-ness brings and what "bigger" fights a win over Clottey will move Williams closer to. Dzinziruk is a world champion and one of the best jr. middleweights in the world. Clottey ain't shit at 154, which is where Neil was proposing the fight take place.
the fact that clottey is more well known means more people will tune in to watch williams fight him. thus more exposure for williams. would the fight suddenlygain some sort of importance if it was fought at 147lbs. it makes no sense for either guy to boil down there when they could just as easily make the match at 154lbs and have both guys be closer to their best. beating one guy 3 or 4 years ago isn't going to have many clamoring to see him fight, even hardcore fans.
I'd love to know how many more fans you think Clottey's going to bring in, by himself, to any fight he has next.
hundreds of thousands ratings wise. its easier to sell williams vs another know commodity here than williams vs some russian
Williams-Wright got 1.5...so you're saying that Clottey's going to help Williams eclipse that? If not, then he's probably fighting in front of the same crowd that already knows him and has seen him. Not sure how that would further his cause the way you and Reed are claiming.
Clottey is so fucking unknown he couldn't even give Cotto a PPV during the Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend. I'm sorry but Clottey fighting and looking good in front of a million hispanics isn't going to make him anymore popular or marketable. Ask Shane Mosley what 2 victories over ODLH did for his marketability. Plus what is Williams supposed to do after he beats Clottey? Pacquaio will be facing either Mayweather or Mosley, neither of whom wants to fight PW. Pacquaio wouldn't fight PW I doubt, with the huge height & weight difference. Cotto will probably be considered damaged goods by then and probably wouldn't fight PW either and even if he did it wouldn't be a PPV. So I really just think nothing Williams will ever do will bring him big money, especially in the welterweight division. I give him a better shot at 154 and above because those guys will fight him since it's less of a risk.
yeah at this stage Mosley has more to lose than win against Williams. I used to think that Goldenboy was to blame for him not getting bigger fights. The Ko win over Margarito should have given him at least another big fight by now. but Mosley has always been happy with his role in Goldenboy. So now that he is bitching about a Cotto/Pacquiao fight being made he can't blame anybody but himself.
