Pissed might be the wrong word.... but I dunno, I don't think it's the fans job to be concerned if someone is matched too tough. That's why I watch boxing.

If there's something to be pissed about it's that the next HBO card isn't until August 22nd...and it's Juan Diaz-Paulie Malignaggi.

    Wow, really? Jesus.

What do we have in between other than Campbell-Bradley?

Yeah, GBP should be applauded for matching their investments tough. Maybe they are thinking more long term. Get the learning experiences now and if it doesn't break the young fighter they know they might have a solid commodity 3-5 years down the line.

Guys like Carmen Basilio, Henry Armstrong and many other greats lost lots of fights early on before they were fully experienced.

Showtime has two other cards, I think, with Darchinyan-Agbeko on July 11th and and Marvin Quintero-Tyrone Harris the ngiht before the Campbell-Bradley card.

Top Rank has a couple pay per views...the JCC Jr. card July 25th and the Pinoy Power card in August.

    That's about it.

The following are the only match-ups which look half-interesting between now and then (early august) IMO - I guess most won't be televised in the US:

    Alexander Dimitrenko vs Eddie Chambers
    Anselmo Moreno vs Mahyar Monshipour
    Felix Sturm vs Khoren Gevor
    Joseph Agbeko vs Vic Darchinyan
    Yuri Romanov vs Fernando Angulo
    Andreas Kotelnik vs Amir Khan

Speaking of Sturm, a report by Rick Reeno on BoxingScene is saying HBO's only offering $2 million for Pavlik-Sturm, putting the fight in doubt...not that I have that much interest in the fight.

Jake's got a pretty good article outlining what we could have been watching on HBO this summer.

Nor would I, wrong german middleweight. Gevor isn't half bad though, I wouldn't rule him out against Sturm

I guess now we know why top rank didn't try harder to move ortiz and why they simply let him leave to gbp. I really couldn't understand why they'd let such a marketable LATINO prospect walk. trampler wouldn't have gotten him beat so soon

I've just saw the fight for the first time and Ortiz quit like a bitch. This loss is gonna haunt him forever. Mexican-American fans will never forgive him for pulling that shit infront them yesterday. He's got no heart, plain and simple.

It's never a good time to be an MMA fan. Yeah, can't wait to see your joke of a 2-1 champion. Keep this bullshit out this forum. This forum is for a real sport. Not a white trash sport with idiots with stupid tattoos rolling around in spandex in gay sexual positions. What kind of homophobe are you liking that gay shit.

Hopefully,Ray Mercer doesn't challenge Lesner and even him up as a 500 fighter.

its a shame because if ortiz was as tough as forbes he'd be very, very difficult to defeat.

Khan was in the crowd to watch Maidana-Ortiz.
Victor Ortiz IMO is done as a prospect and he was exposed. I could care less who he could beat at 140 anymore or how good his chin is.

MMA is fucking garbage. Keep that shit for it's own forum.

There is absolutely NO fucking MMA moolie who could take ten/fifteen/twenty clean boxing shots to the head. That's why they fall over after one clean shot. Unadulterated garbage.

N REED's Opinion, the OVERRIDING Factor was Maidana's POWER...It NEVER Decreased Throughout the Bout...Ortiz Seemed to Adjust to his Power, but 1nce Round 5 or 6 Came & He was Being Touched w/THE SAME LEVEL of POWER, THAT's when Ortiz FOLDED UP Shop....

when they announced Maidana's record of 25 wins 24 knockouts, i was shocked. I really felt that vic might lose at that point. That is an impressive KO ratio, no matter who you are fighting.

I've always been a big fan of punching power in boxing, always love to watch world class punchers.

And it just goes to show what power can do doesn't it? Aside from 1 punch KO's, you have examples like this, where it just makes a guy wilt, and not even from taking hundreds of shots and getting worn down either.

I mean, Ortiz "looked" like the better fighter in there, but Maidana won. And I guess you're right, it was mainly down to power.

Still, I can't help but think Ortiz and Maidana would demolish Khan.

Khan could possibly squeak by kotelnik, but the next time he faces a proper puncher, you'll realise just how much of a factor his chin is at world level.

I don't think Ortiz proved anything regarding his chin. The one time he was hit on it he was dropped and hurt badly. Other than that, he was primarily hit with shots to the head and eye level (for example, the huge right hand in the second to last round that created the giant swelling on Ortiz's left eye when his right eye had already been cut by a left hook).

Maddeina was a hard puncher but not the most accurate one. My guess is Ortiz's chin is shit. Maddeina himself said the punch he dropped Ortiz with wasn't very hard and that he wasn't surprised that Ortiz continued on. And yet, Ortiz could barely stand - it was a miracle he wasn't finished right there and then in the first round.

From that point on, I don't recall Ortiz taking another big shot on the chin. So back to my point. Not only is Ortiz's willingness to take punishment and courage been exposed as non-existent, he could very well be chinny as well.

So to those who say this fight proved Ortiz doesn't have a bad chin I'd respond by saying that it doesn't. If anything, it opens up more questions as to his ability to take a punch - especially one on the chin.

it was the way Ortiz decided to fight....he turned it into a lottery. That and of course heart....Maidana wanted it more.
