Freitas' quitting against Corrales was far more justified (by appearances) than Ortiz's, but he took far more shit. Far more.

I tend to give the fighter the benefit of the doubt when they decide to quit. I hate it when people criticize a guy for getting up and quitting when they think it would be alright if he had just stayed down for the 10 count. Imo, that's just stupid.

Ortiz obviously didn't recover between rounds and Maidana had a lot left. I won't hold it against him and hope that he comes back and has a successful career. He may decide to fight to the end next time he's in a similar position. People can change.

    I hope so too.

The quitjobs were similar though, Ortiz's wasn't much different to Freitas.

In both cases they were getting bashed, a KO was likely, and they both lost heart and bottled it, and quit.

Freitas did take heat for the Corrales fight and i never really thought he deserved as much flack as others did.

However the Diaz fight post fight celebration after quitting was nauseating.

The US commentators basically called McClellan a pussy when he took the first knee in the tenth. Ferdie Pachieo I think. He just kept saying over and over that nothing was hurting him and that he had no heart.

    Whoops...
