It looked different but not enhanced in a way that helped him. Shane has always been a fan of weight lifting and maintains to this day he always went to Conte for protein shakes and shit. All of sudden he looks huge in the ODLH fight and is slower than he's ever been before.

Well REED, it's kinda funny that you use those examples.

Getting caught with an open container = Margarito

Alcohol induced vehicular homicide = Shane

    Margarito ATTEMPTED

    Shane DID

Now tell me again, which is worse?:dunno:

TAMPERING w/your Gloves or Handwraps is THE WORST Crime a Boxer Can Committ, Dude...There's a Distinct ADVANTAGE from Having your Hand Wraps LOADED....As for Steroids, they COULD Enhance a Performance, but in the Case of Mosley-Dela II it Certainly DIDN'T...

How Much did Roids HELP Vargas when HE Fought DeLa???...How Much did Roids HELP James Toney's Fat Ass???....

Unless we are going to have scientific experiements where we can prove an increase in speed + power + reaction + endurance is > or < than a thin layer of plaster incased in a glove, no one is going to win this argument. I say it's about equally dangerous, you say a thin layer of a plaster substance is MUCH worse.

As far as everything else, so what are you trying to say, all the fighter's you listed were on something when they won and weren't when they lost?

All I'm trying to say is Shane used a performance enhancer, Margarito attempted to use one. Both of these fighter's career and character should be questioned equally. You are the one with the problem with that, presuming guilt for Margarito, and innocence from Shane.

Mosley naturally would try to downplay the knowledge a fighter has about what's going on around him. He'd look bad if he said "Margarito had to have known" when he claims he "unknowingly" injected himself with illegal PEDs.

Agreed...Mosley gets more of a pass than most athletes because he has a nice guy rep and smiles all the time.

He pretty much admits in his testimony that he was instructed to call it flaxseed oil. It doesn't take a genius to know that they're probably giving you illegal PEDs.

Basically, there's no proff. NONE. Is Margarito a cheating bastard? Absolutely but there's no proof he cheated against Cotto.

  9. valdosta

Margarito was ahead on the cards when the fight was stopped, BEFORE the KD's were counted.

Who knows but that's not good enough proof. Speculation.

  13. valdosta

On 2 of the 3 cards he was ahead and the other was even. After the KD's the fight was over even if Cotto made it through 12. You said the fight would be scored even going into round 12. That is far from correct. Margarito would have been ahead by quite a margin.

  14. Anthony

No its not proof, but its Leans more towards the fact that he did, rather than didnt cheat before.

    .....

Like I said early in the thread it really don't matter. At the end of the day if he cheated and didn't get caught someone in Cotto's camp really wasn't doing there job. So either he cheated and didn't get caught because Cotto's people didn't do there job or he didn't cheat at all. Either way, there's no solid proof. For some of you to post like it is some sort of fact is comical to say the least.

DRIED BLOOD on a Plaster Insert Is PROOF that they Were PREVIOUSLY USED, Val...Why Else Would the Blood B DRY???...So the Question Becomes, WHEN were they Previously Used???...

In SPARRING, SHADOWBOXING or an Actual FIGHT???...A MEANINGLESS Fight or THE BIGGEST Fight of his Career???...Based on the Evidence, there's LOGICAL CONCLUSIONS that can B Formed...

Margarito's punches would have had less effect on him. That means Cotto would have tired less. I think he would have KO'd Margarito or win a decision.

point is that they could have found razorblades in his wraps that night and it wouldnt have made a difference. the fight would have gone ahead at that last minute you really think the plug would have been pulled with the amount of money involved??

the fact is money is more important than human life in this day and age.

I agree with this, the fight was going to happen no matter what. There would have been to much money lost if they didn't.

  22. REEDsART

It's NOT a Made Up Conclusion...There REALLY WAS DRIED BLOOD Found on Margarito's Handwraps...This was CLEARLY STATED During the Hearing...That MEANS Margarito had PREVIOUSLY USED Them...

The ONLY Point of Contention is WHEN he May Have Used...

Unknown. We don't know if Margarito loaded his gloves for that fight.

If he did, how does Cotto react differently to unloaded gloves? Does he move as much? Is he more relaxed (affecting stamina)? What about Margarito's stamina? Is his stamina as strong in the latter rounds? Having loaded gloves, well obviously you can relax more with your punches and still it will do damage. Is his confidence hurt?

Too many factors to take in, and we'll probably never know for sure which fights in the past Margarito loaded for (if any).

False. Do some research on plaster of paris. Especially on it's reuse. It's not an easy process and there sure as hell wouldn't be blood from the Cotto fight on it. That shit is almost laughable.

If they found it already hardened, that's one thing, but they didn't.

I don't care to see Margarito ever in the ring again.

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK him with a broomstick.

It doesnt matter what you say Tex. There was dried blood on there. That means it has to be used again. Like Reed said. The only question is WHEN it was used or against who. I really dont see him using loaded gloves on sparring partners. With that evidence, i can draw my own conlcussions that he used the shit in the cotto fight. And im sure 90% of boxing fans see it the same way.

  28. TexMex

It's not really what I say, it just the facts. In order to re use plaster of paris, you almost need a lab, it's not easy to do. And during the process, it is impossible for blood that may have been on there previously to remain.

If 90% of boxing fans don't look further into things before forming an opinion, then 90% of boxing fans are ignorant.

Plaster of Paris (gypsum hemihydrate) is in fact created
industrially by heating fully hydrated gypsum (the
dihydrate). Typically the dihydrate must be heated moderately
above the boiling point of water; usually about 120°C to 170°
for a specific time to drive off excess water of
crystallization and result in the hemihydrate. Since Plaster
of Paris that has "set" is the same thing a gypsum, the
results will be the same, whether heating gypsum, or "set"
Plaster of Paris.... the hemihydrate will result.

    Plaster of Paris can be
"recycled" endlessly by the above method.

Plaster of Paris can be reused, but it is not worth the trouble. Plaster of Paris, or simply plaster, is based on calcium sulfate hemihydrate, nominally CaSO4·0.5H2O. It is created by heating gypsum to about 150 °C.

    2CaSO4·4H2O → 2CaSO4·H2O + 3H2O (released as steam).

When the dry plaster powder is mixed with water, it re-forms into gypsum.

So, you could re-use plaster of paris, by heating it to 150 °C in an oven and driving the water off, and grinding the it into a powder again.

How "Ignorant" were the People Involved w/the HEARING???...U Know, the 1's that Actually EXAMINED the Handwraps THOROUGHLY???...The Inserts were Said to have a "PLASTER LIKE" Substance On Them (In Addition to DRIED BLOOD)...

But what YOU'RE Telling Us is that After SEVERAL WEEKS of Investigation, they Actually Got it WRONG???...

Uh, no. Are you retarded? If you think I'm trying to say that there wasn't any plaster or dried blood on them, you are. The only people that "got it wrong" are the people such as yourself claiming that he REUSED the plaster of paris handwraps.

1st. It's MUCH easier just to use new plaster of paris, PERIOD. WTF, did Margarito have sentimental value to the old ones?

2nd. If you decide to play chemist and REUSE the plaster of paris, dried blood would no longer be present. Plaster isn't a fukin tampon REED, the only thing it absorbs is oxygen.

If you still can't understand, go get a piece of plaster of paris REED, and see if you can manage to make it moldable again, hell see if you can even make it wet. Good Luck.
