See that's the only positive thing about Gatti's premature death. At least he was retired from the ring and we got to see him complete his career. Not the same thing with Chico. Although he just came off a loss to Clottey, can you imagine some of the possible good matchups if Chico were still around to play in the 147 and possibly 140lb division? Would Pacquiao want a piece of Chico? Could he stand up to one of Chico's hooks? We'll never know.

    anyhow

Gatti was my favorite fighter of all time and underrated fighter
he never got totally dominated in the ring until the end of his career where Mayweather, Baldomir, and Gomez fucking him up
    hall of fame fighter?

well 2 time world champ in 2 different weight classes and was considered a star in boxing..not a superstar but a star

    had some nice wins

with probably the Dorin fight being his most impressive..that kind of shocked some people

does he get into the hall of fame?

    he shouldnt get in

but i can say this that Gatti would have given alot of those guys in his weight class from any area a good scrap..even though he would have lost them

I can definitely see Gatti getting the early death extra credit when it comes to his career. It happens all the time. Hell...I don't recall if it was on SecondsOut or here, but I remember someone referring to James Broad as a great fighter right after he died.

And I know Gatti was a fan-friendly fighter, but if he somehow gets inducted into the HOF, they might as well close it down and turn it into a McDonalds.

From what I can tell he pushed his wife. I don't think that qualifies as beating her. My guess is the dispute between them was largely verbal and probably involved his questioning her commitment or vice-versa.

REED Doesn't have a Problem w/Gatti Being Inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame...For Starters, the Entry Requirements were Criminally LOW Loooooooooong B 4 Gatti Ever Boxed...

Also, the Hall is for ACCOMPLISHED &/or MEMORABLE Fighters...Gatti WASN'T Close to Being the Best of his Era, was NEVER Close to Lb for Lb Status & U Could Argue that he had 2 PAPER Titles @ 130 & 140, but Dude was Undoubtedly MEMORABLE...

He Had a Genuine IMPACT on his Era & the Fans who Watched him & that Makes him WORTHY of Hall of Fame Status, N REED's Opinion...

I'd have had no desire to see what would have happened to Corrales at 147, or any other weight, had he fought on after the Clottey fight...especially not against Pacquiao.

exactly, the HOF isn't only for unblemished records. Gatti should be there before Sven ottke's name is mentioned. He is HOF material just because he gave so much for boxing.

I never said the the HOF is for fighters with unblemished records.

What did Gatti give so much of? Himself? His all? Did he leave it all in the ring each time out? Of course he did. And...he was a gutsy fighter who fought hard when over matched...but that description fits many. many fighters who will never even get as close as this discussion to making the HOF. What were Gatti's HOF moments?? When he showed he was a little better than the equally gutsy but slightly more mediocre Mickey Ward?

I know that popularity is part of the HOF consideration. But to me, popularity should be a lesser consideration than the fighter's accomplisments.

And I know that other fighters have been voted in that may not belong as well...but I'm of the opinion that additional "wrongs" don't make "rights".

And my opinion here has nothing to do with me having anything against Gatti. (aka subtle anti-Gatti bias:lol:). Vinny Pazienza is every bit as "qualified" as Gatti is for the HOF and was, IMO, a better fighter. But you don't see me trying to create a case for Vinny just because I am a known Pazmaniac.

well i would exactly call them paper titles..i mean the guy earned his chances of winning those titles

its not like he fought bums to get to those titles and he did defend against decent competition to keep them

anyhow...reed...how much of a lying bitch is this brazilian woman? fucking girl already claiming her innocence..its just making her look stupid

Gatti's 2 wins over Tracy Patterson were good
Gatti made 2 defenses over proven challengers like Rodriguez and Ruelas..no soft touches there
Gatti had a good win over Terron Milett at the time..at least the ass kicking he gave him was impressive
I had Gatti beating Ward all 3 times who was a good fighter during the second half of his career...I thought if Gatti really wanted there were softer fighters holding belts at the time that he could have beaten alot easier rather then go through hell with Ward to begin with
Gatti blowing out L. Dorin was very impressive

REED Only Meant "Paper" Titles N the Sense that Genaro Hernandez & Kostya Tszyu/Ricky Hatton were the More RECOGNIZED Champions in the Divisions that Gatti Held Belts In...But w/Out Question, Even Though he was Never LINEAL, Gatti was Indeed a WORLD CHAMPION....

As for Mrs. Gatti, REED's ALWAYS Believed In an "Eye for Eye"...As Such, Someone Should KNIFE this Bitch N the Back of HER Dome, then Choke the Rest of the Life Out of Her w/Her Own Purse Strap....

yeah. her and whoever helped her do it. i doubt she'd be strong enough to have done it herself unless she managed to knock Gatti unconscious before choking him.

I always ripped on Gatti because many of his fans attributed otherworldy abilities to him that he in no way, shape or form actually had... BUT, he was one of the bravest guys ever in the ring and this is very sad

all that said, if Gatti was beating his wife then he got what was coming to him

I dont give a shit if he was a brave fighter or not, not all boxers hit their wives and giving Gatti a free pass for it is shameless

    definitley!

for every time he held one of his "titles", there was a real champion holding another belt that was easily regarded as his superior

That is absolutely false. I had people tell me that on this forum because I am a fan of Gatti. I never once predicted incorrectly one of his fightse even Baldomir. Name some people on this forum that attributed anything to Gatti other than exciting. What is funny is nearly everyone here felt the need to Chime in and say Gatti is a bum when no one ever said he was great or even good to my recollection. The reason he is beloved is he was exciting and frankly he deserved all the money and hype he made. If what Wlad and PBF do is fun to watch, give me Gatti.COREY sPINKS has twice the talent and I would rather watch bowling.

Peter (although that shouldn't be surprising)

There were other posters that made a big deal of McGirt training Gatti like it was going make him into a superior boxer-puncher.

I think you just proved my point.:lol:Even with Mcgirt no one went crazy. People act like Gatti had Tito delusional type of fans and he didn't. It is a fiction much like Jim Lampley's oft-quoted "Gatti's improved defense..." HBO hypes everyone. It is their job. People on this forum did not. I am just saving you some time. I am supposedly one of the "Fans" that supposedly hyped Gatti and I never did and neither did anyone meaningful. Certainly not enough to form a reactionary opinion. It isn't like it takes numbers to have a faction on this forum 3 posters and 2 threads could be a movement. It just didn't happen. File this with Jesus' resurrection. It is fiction.
