UFC could make Dallas debut in September by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jun 02, 2009 at 12:30 pm ET The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold a major event in Dallas, possibly as soon as this September. Sources closes to the organization and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's Combative Sports division recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) of the tentative plans. The UFC is expected to hold UFC 103 on Sept. 26, and though originally expected to take place in England, the event could instead be held in Dallas. The UFC has ventured to Texas once before, but no shows have been held in Dallas. UFC 69, which featured Matt Serra's stunning upset of then-champ Georges St. Pierre, drew more than 15,000 spectators to Houston's Toyota Center in April 2007. Texas has proven a hotbed for MMA and is home to a number of successful regional promotions, including the popular Shark Fights organization. It's home to many notable fighters, including the "Texas Crazy Horse," UFC heavyweight Heath Herring. A likely venue for a Dallas show is the 21,000-seat American Airlines Center, which is home to the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and NHL's Dallas Stars. The city's other major venue, the 17,000-seat Reunion Arena, will be demolished later this summer. UFC 103, four bouts officially announced for Dallas; Tickets on sale this week by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jul 14, 2009 at 7:10 pm ET The UFC today officially announced its long-rumored UFC 103 event, which takes place Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, and four featured bouts for the show. Previously reported and now-official bouts include Martin Kampmann (15-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) vs. Mike Swick (14-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC), Josh Koscheck (12-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) vs. Frank Trigg (19-6 MMA, 2-3 UFC), Hermes Franca (19-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) vs. Tyson Griffin (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Efrain Escudero (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Cole Miller (15-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC), Tickets for the sale on on sale beginning this week. UFC 103 marks the UFC's first-ever trip to Dallas and the first in Texas since UFC 69 in Houston in 2007. The event will also feature a heavyweight fight between Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and Junior Dos Santos, and Rich Franklin is also a possible headliner for the show. Tickets for UFC 103 go on sale to UFC Fight Club members this Thursday, July 16, at 11 a.m. ET (11 a.m. CT). What a sh*t card! This is more of a free UFC FightNight Card for Spike TV as opposed to a ppv. I ain't paying $30+ to see f*cking Frank Trigg, Koscheck, Franca, Swick, or those other bums. Junk!
I wouldn't call it shit, but I ain't paying 50 bucks to see it. They would need a strong main event to make it worth it. Machida vs Shogun would be a nice addition.
I actually think there are some pretty good matchips. Swick/Kampmann and Franca/Griffin are great matchups.
They aren't 50 bucks worth of sick though. They are good fights, but there isn't a damn thing on the line.
