Khan is going to beat this guy up. UD I reckon. If Valero wants to bring it he will get smashed up as well.
I don't know enough about Kotelnik to make a prediction. I've never been sure how good he is. Is Khan the favourite with the bookies?
He's a tough dude, I think if Khan fights smart and uses his speed he should win the majority of the rounds though. Roach won't let him get silly. Khan is 1/3 with skybet.
Khan is the betting favourite I'm reliably informed. I have no idea why... I honestly have no idea who will win this fight. However, I have a good idea how it will go, though. Khan will come forward looking to dictate the pace and throwing lots of flurries which will please the crowd and the judges. Kotelnik, as always, will hide behind an extremely high guard and take 85-90% of these punches on his arms and gloves. He will also look to catch Khan with clean, crisp counters as Khan jumps back out in a nice straight line as he usually does. That is EXACTLY how I see this fight going down for 12 full rounds. The reason why I don't really know who will win is that there are a few unknowns top consider. Khan has good (but widely overrated) power but there is nothing to tell anyone how hard it hits at 140. This is important, because he will spend 85-90% of the time attacking Kotelnik and if he has enough power to be effective, then he might well prevail by stoppage. It is unlikely, though, and Kotelink has already shown in the past that he is capable of stopping pressure fighters with little power and no brains (Rees). Kotelnik has also been hit by very solid punchers at 140 and has never been stopped or come much close to being stopped. It is also important because there is very little chance that Kotelnik can win on points here: he never wins tight decisions to start with and Khan will look like he is the aggressor from stat to finish, so Kotelink realistically has to KO Khan to win. This isn't exactly out the realms of possibility, because as everyone knows, Khan has one of the shittiest chins the world has ever seen. Werren seems to believe that Kotelnik is the weakest of the champs at 140 but he is wrong IMHO. Kotelnik is a full level better than Urango, for example, but Urango hits very hard and would snap Khan like a biscuit the first time he hit him. What werren actually means is that Kotelnik is the one beltholder least likely to tap Khan's chin and in that regard he is probably right. The safe bet then is Khan by decision but I wouldn't put a penny of my own money on it. This is Khan's toughest fight to date by a considerable distance and Kotelnik will take him into deep waters. I honestly fancy Kotelnik to break Khan down over the course of the fight and, knowing he needs a KO to win, Kotelink might open up late and stop Khan in the late rounds. Can't wait for this fight, mind! MTF opcorn:
MTF, if Khan were to somehow stop Kotelnik or win a wide decision with a knockdown or staggers Kotelnik a few times would you change your opinion of Amir?
Absolutely. I've said before that Khan has excellent potentital, and that this is a very important fight for him. I have no real dislike of Khan: in fact I've defended him here and elsewhere plenty of times. I have grown to like him actually. He has very quick hands and tremendous fighting heart- even when Prescott had him on absolute queer street he still got up once and tried to get up again when he really should have had a lie down. His chin is just horrific though. He is always one punch away from being sparked by almost any level of fighter. I mean even Willy Limond had him in terrible trouble, and by all accounts Limond is a complete pillow fister... This is a very tough assignment for Khan, despite what people are saying. If he comes through and wins, then it would be a tremendous result for him and as an Englishman I hope he does. MTF
MTF, sorry but Khan does NOT have good power. At all. His power is average at best at 135, let alone 140. He hit Barrera with everything, and couldn't even stun him. I bet Marquez hits harder than Khan at 140, and he's a natural featherweight.
Khan has good power Mex. I'm not saying that he has great power or anything like that, because he doesn't, but he has good power. He has something like a 90% KO ratio so far. Also, being unable to stun Barerra isn't really a shock is it? Barerra is an absolute, stony chinned warrior. And I refuse to compare Khan and JMM. That's like apples and oranges... MTF
I don't think Khan is particularly powerful but he sure as hell is fast. I still think he got lucky against MAB. Kotelnik is pretty decent but at the same time he is the perfect dude for Khan to "step up" and fight for a title. I think this one will go the distance but I wouldn't be surprised if Amir was stopped late in the fight.
You're right Limond is not a big hitter at all, and his chin will always be an issue. I know this has the potential to be a very tough assignment for Khan, but if Khan fights smart and makes the most of his assets this could end up being very easy. Remember as well guys, speed is power.
Nah, Barrera is fairly tough, but he doesn't have an iron chin. He's also a natural 122 pounder, and Khan is a BIG lightweight. Plus Barrera is shot. If Khan had even "good" power at 135, he would have at least hurt barrera. By the way his KO % is not 90% at all, it's actually about 70%, and the KO's he does have were against scrubs. Against world class opposition, or even borderline world class, Khan is going to have hardly any KO's at all.
I think against Barrera, there was obviously alot of pressure on him because of who he was facing (regardless of how much MAB had left in the tank) and if he had lost by being careless and walking onto something stupid his career would have been effectively over. Remember a big deal was made about how he rushed in against Prescott and got blitzed, so he was understandably cautious and biding his time, without the cut I think Khan would have gone on to stop MAB in the later rounds.
Marcos Maidana hits harder than Khan and he couldn't even stun Kotelnik. I'll put my prediction on Kotelnik via TKO win.
Indeed. I bet Werren and Khan watched the Maidana-Ortiz fight through their respective hands. Not just Maidana, though. Junior Witter hit Kotelnik plenty and he never budged. No-one can seriously tell me that Khan hits as hard as Witter does. MTF
Good post. I'm in line with you above and the following posts almost word-for-word, except for the above...Kotelnik just got a close decision against Maidana. I think he can get the nod against Khan because Khan could fade and lose rds at the end. If it goes 12, Khan could very well deserve the decision. I'm picking Kotelnik by late KO, but not with much confidence.
Khan's legacy took a shit tonight when the club fighter known as Brendis Prescott who knocked him dead in less than a round lost to a talentless Mexican on FNF. Kotelnick is a decent fighter. Khan has got to have a shit chin losing to that guy.
I really hope Kotelnik wins. Khan has no skills & no brains, it hurts my eyes to watch him and my fucking brain to listen to him. If you want my pick though I'd have to lean toward Khan.
Knocked out in three. You brits are truly insane. Every big british fight from now I´ll lay the crap out of the opponent. The odds on Khan have gone from 1.6 to 1.33, despite Maidana destroying Ortiz and Prescott getting beaten by a scrub. :notallthere::notallthere:
Khan would be wise to fight safety first and try to win a decision. His chin doesn't grant him the ability to trade with anyone. Put it this way... Even though Ortiz bitched up in his last fight, I'd pick him to KO Khan. Khan doesn't get up from ANY of the shots Maidana did.
Yeah they all use their microcredits to bet on Khan. I sense a lot of defaults in the upcoming months. This could be as huge as the subprime mortgage crisis. By the time the fight starts you´ll be able to get 10.0 on Kotelnik. It would be hilarious if Kotelnik unceremoniously dumped Khan in the first. :: :kick:
And If that does happen I won't be losing any sleep. In fact I would rejoyce. The fact khan is ppv makes me dislike him even more.
