Yeah I feel you...Now fighters like Alfonso Gomez. That guy is bordering on genius...I remember when he was on the contender, his scholarly conversations with Peter Manfredo jr. had me enthralled.

He didn't say he was garbage, he just said he didn't like him.

And Hut, I agree with you. I feel the same way, on all counts.

Of course he has the IQ of a fencepost, but ultimate it's him as a fighter I don't like.

He seems almost like a prototype cyborg boxer.

A cyborg with rudimental AI. Obviously the AI is nowhere near as advanced as a living, thinking human, and that's what Khan is like.

Just a robot with fast hands. Just randomly moves around the ring throwing lots of fast punches. Doesn't think about what he's doing, doesn't pick his spots etc.

And yes, he kind of has a quintessential amateur style, he hasn't really changed much in the pros.

Even Paul Williams has more thought and craft to his game.

In other words, you both hate him because he is of Pakistani descent.

I thought Kotelnik would catch the chinny Khan,...I was wrong.

Khan is fast, quick and deceivingly powerful, but like mws stated, he is more an amatuer than a pro.

There was a guy years ago that Lou Duva had named Ed Hopson. Alot like Amir Khan he was fast as hell and had alot of potential.
But you just knew he didn't have what it took to be special.

Amir Khan faces a good fast hard puncher...he's done.

Why would he fight dimitry salita? Are they even in the same weight class?

hut and mws, you two are two of my favourite posters here and it's good to have differing opinions, I would just want to know what in your eyes Khan would have to do to change your opinion of him? Who would he have to beat etc?

Salita will get beat by the way, he's talking his way into a beating

Well if he keeps beating good fighters I'll readily admit he's a good fighter. I always said he would win a world title, I never really doubted that. His athleticism alone guaranteed that. And frankly given the abject lack of talent in boxing right now I don't rule out him ending up on p4p lists, despite his amateurishness.

But I'm not gonna enjoy watching him, ever. Like MWS says he's like a prototype boxing cyborg or something. Just speed and mindless activity, whirring away like an air conditioning unit.

I've just seen some of saturdays fight for the first time. Just came up on youtube, I watched rounds 1, 2, & 4 to get a flavour!

Did Khan even land a single sturdy, meaningful punch in the entire fight? Seriously? He's 3 inches short with everything - touch and run, touch and run, touch and run. It's an affront to the martial basis of the sport. His own mother couldn't call what Khan does a 'noble art' without vomiting into a bucket.

Worse still he doesn't even look INTERESTED in whether half those shots landed properly or not as long as he gets a couple of punches off 'scores' with them and gets away before his opponent can respond. He's already looking to his exit route before he's finished throwing most of them. (This btw is just how timid novices spar when they first come through the doors. Not so much fighting as avoiding. Not committing, never sitting their feet under their punches, coming short with everything.)

Modern Amateur boxing, eh! FUCK IT, FUCK IT, FUCK IT, FUCK IT! 20-25 years of the influence of that wretched smelly scoring system & head gear & this is where we are. With 'fighters' like Khan. They should have just made tag an olympic sport and left boxing the fuck alone.:crying:

The Hatton fight'll be fun though. I'd pick Mrs Hatton to go 12 with Khan, never mind Ricky.:slap:

He done what he needed to do, it was his first world title fight and no one expected him to stop Kotelnik anyway, the guy is tough as nails. He handled Kotelnik alot easier than supposed established world class operators like Witter and M'baye, not bad for an amateur!

He would beat Witter because Witter isn't active enough. Witter would be dangerous early on though.

    It's tough to say bud.

Hatton is shot IMHO and would do well now to retire, but even at this stage a win over him by Amir would be a very notable success indeed. I'm told Khan would start no better than a 2-1 dog if that fight is signed so the money-men would clearly feel that beating Hatton would be a noted victory.

I was impressed with the way Amir handled Kotelnik. He never looked like actually hurting him but his speed threw Kotenik completely off him game plan. I was also impressed with Roach's tactics. He clearly doesn't want Khan to engage with anyone to protect that chin and Khan stuck to the plan to the letter. Amir never looked like stoppping Kotelnik but he never looked in much trouble either.

140 is fairly barren at the moment if you remove Manny Pac from the mix. There is no-one there Khan should be particularly scared of IMHO. Witter is tricky but near the end of a frustrating career and doesn't work hard enough to beat Amir. Bradley is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over-rated and Amir could outhustle him. Holt hits hard but is wide and sloppy, whilst Ortiz has no heart and Maidana is very, very cumbersome (for all his power).

I'd imagine Khan might have some prolonged success and good luck to the lad.

I feel your pain mate. Ammy boxing has created a generation of fighters with no power but ultra quick hands. Khan fights like Calzaghe but with even less on his shots and a much worse chin.

Watch the fight again...this time put on your glasses and watch Amirs right hands to the body and Koteliniks reactions and how they slowed him down the stretch. Your either blind or you haven't watched enough boxing to tell when a guy gets hurt but doesn't want to show it.

Dude, no way Khan "outhustles" Bradley. Bradley is way too disciplined and intelligent for Khan. Holt might be sloppy but once he catches Khan, it's Prescott time again. Hell, even Witter seems like an even fight. Khan is crap, he'll get stopped again soon. Yeah, he beat Kotelnik, good. But he wasn't exactly solving a quantum physics equation.
