and back then vargas was a better fighter than margarito. let's face it, the mid to late 90s version of quartey wouldve given margarito a hiding

baldomir sucks. lopez was actually a talented fighter. and quartey lopez was one of the more corrupt decisions of the decade.

Quartey/Lopez was scored a draw because Quartey, as he did against ODH, spent too much time doing nothing but jabbing. Especially in the second half of the fight. Plus, he was knocked down twice. Once early and once late.

In pro boxing, as you know, power-punches count for more than jabs. I think both in the Lopez fight and the ODH fight the judges were responding to Quartey's apparent defensive posture and the fact that he wasn't aggressive enough. In both cases, it was Quartey's opponent making the fight, moving forward, controlling the pace.

I could probably count the number of right hands Quartey threw in the second half of the ODH and Lopez fight.

your opinions regarding the judging of professional boxing matches don't have much merit, dalby

Anyone who tries to justify the Quartey/Lopez decision should be removed from the gene pool immediately.

Well, you're forgetting the fifth criteria for judging fights...scoring jabs is optional.
