Former WWE top star Brock Lesnar says he doesn't want to fight one of the top fighters in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, until he's ready and has improved as a fighter. Taking a page from pro wrestling booking, he says he doesn't want to "hot shot" a fight against Fedor just because he's a hot fighter after his victory over Frank Mir at UFC 100. "I think I have a lot to prove as a fighter," Lesnar said on the Jim Rome radio show. "I want to get a few more fights in and do it right. I'm not here to hotshot anything as far as the fight business." Lesnar has the mentality that he doesn't want to take fights based on his gut reaction or that people are clamoring for a Lesnar vs. Fedor fight. "This is a business for me, first and foremost," Lesnar said on Jim Rome. "This is how I make my living and that’s how I look at it." http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/MMA_UFC_Coverage_36/article_33858.shtml Well I can't say I was surprised by Brock's reaction to a Fedor fight. Dude talked big sh*t a few months back saying "Who gives a f*ck about Fedor!" Now that the people are clamouring for it, he says he ain't ready. :: Sorry, isn't this guy the WORLD CHAMPION? :dunno: Don't World Champions fight anybody?
Come on Hanz, Fedor isn't even in the UFC. Its a moot point. If he would've said "Hell yeah I'll fight him on this show, Jim!" , would that have been better? Fedor isn't going to sign with the UFC. Its a foolish question for Jim Rome to ask anyway.
So is MLB stupid for calling it the "World Series"? How about the NBA or NFL? They call their champions "World Champions". Hell, I have a t'shirt to prove it. The UFC has just as much right to call their champions "World Champions" as the WBC, IBF, WBO, WBA, IBO, (enter your world champion alphabet soup title here).
The NBA,NFL,MLB exc are all company champions not world champions, they don't go around playing teams around the world in other orgs.
They still claim their champiions to be world champions. Its all about marketing. Nothing more, nothing less.
Exactly. When you f*ck a bitch, do you consider your cock minor league or world class? Everybody wants to be recognized as the best in the world.::
Nice analogy Hanzartie: I have a few buddies who fight for Strikeforce, and they said the same that you said about there being a rumor about them going for Fedor. That could be huge. I would love to see Fedor fight Overheem.(If Overheem could actually not be injured)
I already knew who started this thread just by the title alone. Brock is a bitch. He knows that he will get his ass handed to him. Who else is there for him to fight? Carwin? :bangh: Fedor coming to the UFC and beating Brock would be good. It would make the division interesting as Brock rebuilds. That is unless Fedor ruins him. In a few years Brock would probably be able to take Fedor straight up but not right now.
I would love to see Fedor in the UFC, but it ain't happening anytime soon. I also think there are plenty of good fights for Brock right now in the UFC. Carwin, Dos Santos, Velasquez, and even Nog.
All of those fights are a step down from the Mir, Herring and Couture fights. Brock can only go DOWN from here, unless it's Fedor. That's why Dana wants that fight first IMHO. If Lesnar loses, he goes back into the heavyweight talent pool and rebuilds and still makes the UFC a shitload of money. If Fedor wins, then he can fight Mir and Couture in huge matchups, even a Nog fight can fool people into buying it.
How is Carwin, Dos Santos and Velasquez a step down from Mir, Herring and Couture? Mir beat an old ass Nog. Couture is pretty much done, so is herring.
Nobody wants to see Randy or mir fight Fedor. that would be murder. The only fight in the UFC for Fedor is Lesner. And while i think Fedor could beat him, im not 100% sure and there are hardcore Fedor fans out there shitting their pants about this fight.
Lesnar deserves respect for what he's done thus far AND he's the champion. So he should have a fair amount of supporters believing in his chances in beating Fedor. I can buy it.:kidcool: Unfortunately, Lesnar himself isn't confident he can beat Fedor based on his comments on the Jim Rome show. Dana White though will force the issue and Lesnar will have no choice. Dana isn't going to give him 3-4 tune up fights to prepare for Fedor.:: If Fedor signs with the UFC tomorrow, he will be Brock's next fight, not the winner of Carwin/Velasquez.
True, and i dont think Lesner will have a huge problem with it, when it comes down to it. He has too much pride. I will fight fedor in his next fight if he has to.
It's not so much about pride, GF. Lesnar is trying to secure a future in MMA. He wants to keep fighting and keep making money. The problem is, in a sport like MMA, if you lose brutally then you're basically thrown to the back of the line and having to claw your way back to a title shot. Not just that, your reputation has taken a hit, your confidence is shattered, other fighters aren't afraid of you, and your stock has plumetted hence lesser paydays. This is Lesnar's view regarding putting off a Fedor fight for the time being. It's a business move and it's a sensible move at that. Brock isn't a believer in his own hype based on what I'm reading from him. Sure, he yelled out to the crowd about being the new gun in town and giving the impression that he's here to dominate. But in the back of his mind, he knows 1 smack to the jaw is all it takes. MMA and Boxing and all combat sports are just really tough avenues for athletes. It's not like tennis where you can play like sh*t and lose and just move on to the next tournament in the next city and still get guaranteed pay just to show up.:: MMA and Boxing are evil! It's sad and lonely. Nobody to help you when you need help. It's just you and your fists.....and your chin. If you suck, then tough sh*t....your out of a job. Actually, this is reminding me of the WWE more and more. If you can't draw fans, go home! Mike Bisping just got KTFO badly with 1 punch to Henderson. Bisping is in a tough predicament but because he's a hometown favourite in England, Dana is banking on his name to draw fans in their England show. But what happens if Bisping gets murdered by Wanderlei too? Where does that leave him and his career? There will be no title shot. He'll be eating the crumbs the UFC feeds him...if they leave any for the poor guy.
I'm really really suprised that anyone would think that anyone would think that Fedor could lose this fight
I disagree that if you lose in MMA you get moved to the back of the line. That is just entirely not true.
He's the favourite but there's always the chance of a 265lb guy who levels you with a sledgehammer right while you're coming in for a takedown or something. Funny stuff happens in sports like this. Theater of the Unexpected as Merchant says.
in this case after the fight Merchant would say "sometimes the theater of the unexpected.... just becomes the theater of the expected.. but we still enjoyed the show tonight"
:: Yep! Lesnar's ego would skyrocket to the moon with a win over Fedor. And Dana White would be sucking his dick all the way.
You answered your own question. Mir, Herring and Couture would be favored over all 3 of them if they fought. You know they would.
Not even close. When Velasquez and Herring were scheduled to fight Velasquez was a big ass favorite. In fact all those guys would be favored over Herring.
Your hate is strong Hanzy. Talked big shit? Lesnar has already said he was sick and tired of every reporter asking him about Fedor when he was getting ready to face Mir. Why the fuck would he want to talk about a guy he wasn't fighting? It's as simple as that. never did he talk big shit or say anything derogatory about Fedor.
