Wee bit of silliness. Late 1979, Raging Bull vs Rocky II. Both about 5'10, 160-170lb, which one of these guys looked most handy in their boxing roles? I like De Niro to take a 4 round decision.:kidcool:
OK fine, he does now but he didn't then. You're distracting us from the highly, highly important matter at hand, ya bas. :warning:
Jeez, as much as I'd want DeNiro to win I'd have to go with Stallone by brutal KO. DeNiro benefited greatly from Scorcese's editing which was much more artistic in it's portrayal of boxing then functional. True, the Rocky style of boxing wasn't exactly realistic either (The first Rocky was probably the closest to the real thing) but I think Stallone had much more experience then DeNiro training in the ring........and was probably a bit stronger.
Bobby boy looked way more wirey and naturally athletic to me. Much better natural frame for boxing. Also he was trained by Lamotta personally and sparred thousands of rounds with him, he must have picked up some tricks. Jake said in interviews he thought De Niro had a genuine aptitude and might have made pro if he had started younger. Might have been talk of course, but either way I say he looked much more naturally snappy and balanced than Stallone so I'd take him.:cheer:
Stallone uses his bulk, size and strength to push Deaniro around the ring to control this most of the way. In the final rounds the referee disqualifies Sly for bad acting.
De niro for sure it was said that lamatta and others training him for the roll said on multiple occasions that he could have been a professional boxer
Deniro was a pussy. He wouldn't have done sh*t as a boxer. All he can do is act tough in movies. Anybody can act tough in movies. I'd f*ck him up easily. Even Will Smith's ego got huge after he trained for his role with Ali. Acting like "Man, I could hang with Lennox Lewis in the ring!" One hookercut from Ruddock puts pansies like Smith and Deniro into their graves. F*cking hollywood jokes! I hate Hollywood pussies acting all tough and badass just cause they play a role in a movie.
Same goes for Stallone. His ego grew up so he wanted Earnie Shavers to play the villain in Rocky III. When Shavers broke three ribs from Stallone with one shot in their first sparring session, he was replaced by Mr T
