I see Resto all of the time. He's really a nice guy dude. Simple man who has paid his dues. He used to live in the basement of a rundown gym.

Who wrote that press release? IMDB has a very different description of the movie - unless this portion is just one of the subjects to be mentioned in the film.

Also, Eric Drath is listed as one of the movie's producers, but not the director.

Maybe it's two separate movies. Just seems too random that two separate boxing-related movies called "Cornered" are released in the same year.

 

I read about this in the Daily News yesterday. I'll be attending. I have been mapping out a documentary that would feature Resto.

Hopefully it's good. Some of these small and unknown film festivals have terrible documentarys and short films.

I missed out on the screening like an idiot.

 

I heard about this film a month or two ago. It looks good.

 

I don't know.

I assume they'll talk about how drug dealers bet money on Resto and probably had Panama remove the padding, but I don't know if that's a "secret".

I saw that on a news special that was done about 20 years ago so it's nothing new.

But thanks for the heads up on HBO guys, Erratic in particular... i have been waiting for this documentary for a long time, actually.

 

This is what i made of Assault of the ring.

Resto really didn't know that his gloves had the padding removed.

However he did know that he was drinking from the mix and that he had plaster of paris handwraps.

Panama Lewis obviously was the man who removed the padding not that this is something nobody already didn't know. He also tampered with the handwraps and made the mix drink.

The NYSAC did a terrible job not noticing the handwraps were plaster and the gloves had no padding.

First of all Collins couldn't fight because he could be blinded, than his father wouldn't let him fight because he wanted to win the lawsuits, but he was healthy enough to fight. They didn't make it clear as too which statement was accurate.

 

If I remember right, he was only helping with Zab. Judah's main trainer was his father as usual.

He was also working with Tyson for a little before or after the Lewis fight.

 

In the end, the bad guys have to let it go. It appears that Panama did. They didn't kill Collins, Collins killed Collins. And Collins corner could have stopped the fight.

I'm guessing that Resto was such a feather fist, that the physical damage Collins actually took is far less than fighters take on a regular basis. I mean internally, not externally.

If we expect Panama and Resto to never forgive themselves for this incident, then you might as well make prisons large enough to hold millions more people than they currently do. What they did was inexcusable, and I don't have a problem with the lifetime ban, but I see far worse every single day in the news. And I wouldn't mind lifting the ban for both of them, either.

And to tie it to boxing, what Butler did to Richard Grant was FAR FAR WORSE and that asshole was fighting again in a bit over 2 years.

 

It's a fair question, but enough is enough, imo. He did his time. The he did 26 years out of the business. Admitting to it doesn't change anything and he's already been convicted, anyway.
