Huge news. Glad to see an end come to all the madness. Strike Force has been doing some great things, I just hope they didn't just sell their soul.

What did StrikeForce offer Fedor which the UFC didn't?

    Co-Promotion with M-1.

Like I said, I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bad move for Strike Force. Other than Fedor, what does M-1 have to offer Strike Force, other than maybe some press in Russia and Eastern Europe....and that should be of no concern to Strike Force at this stage of the game.

Fedor doesnt fight for his last promotion and they go bust - will the same happen to strikeforce ?? Maybe Fedors team are just asking for to much.

It's a shame he wont be fighting at the UFC...:dunno:

Well, it's good and bad. The good being I will most likely now get to see Fedor fight live as I attend most StrikeForce shows. The bad being that there isn't much in the way of top tier HW's in StrikeForce. The plan seems to be Werdum, Rogers and Overeem. While those aren't horrible matches, they certainly leave much to be desired.

Fedor does seem to always be fighting for promotions that go under. Pride, Affliction, Bodog....maybe UFC just avoided the Curse of Fedor.

You cant have a promotion based around one guy - even if that one guy is Fedor. It seems to me like his Russian promoters would like their bread buttered on both sides. I was really looking forward to Fedor taking on some of the UFC HW's. But as Z said, he has some pretty good match ups at strike force.

It does suck for the fans. MMA fans want to see Fedor\Lesnar. The only fight Strike Force could give me that I'd be interested in would be Fedor\Rogers, and that's because of Rogers having a punchers chance, and because we really have no idea how good or bad Rogers game is outside of his standup.

Overeem is decent at best, and Werdum is absolute garbage, and neither of them have a chance in hell against Fedor, or the top UFC heavies for that matter.

Hopefully Strike Force can find some up and coming heavyweights and sign them up as potential opponants....and let's pray Strike Force doesn't pull all their eggs in the Fedor Basket.

Strikeforce is much more established and 'grass roots' than some of those other promotions...especially when it comes to fan loyalty, athletes, venue.

    They've cultivated their name.

I love Strikeforce for that, they run their business how it's supposed to be run. Now the problem with a top guy like Fedor signing is that Strike Force is not known to have the best fighters, they are more of a feeder org. Their roster consists of a bunch of guys who USED to fight for the UFC or are up and coming unknowns.

Too bad Fedor won't fight in the UFC.

By the time the chance comes around again Lesnar and possibly Fedor also will have a more recent loss on their records which will decrease the fights potential.. which right now has potential to be the biggest fight in MMA history.

I understand where M-1 is coming from (financially) though.. they have Fedor.. even if UFC is offering 5 mill per fight, without any co-pro they really don't have alot of potential upside compared to the deal they are in now, which could grow the M-1 name as well. It sucks.. its kindof like the Showtime / HBO thing with Tyson / Lewis. Eventually both sides realized they had to relent a bit and the fight happened and was hugely successful for everyone. I just can't see the UFC relenting though, and for good reasons that Dana pointed out.

Come on D Man, let's get real. Nobody is holding their breath to see Fedor vs Lesnar. It's a nice fight on paper but I damn sure won't lose any sleep if Lesnar gets KTFO by Shane Carwin or Velasquez or somebody.
Whoever goes on to beat Lesnar or Fedor deserves their victory. Nobody's going to say "Oh crap, now we don't get to see Lesnar vs Fedor!"
There's lots of good fights out there.:kidcool:

But they've got more of a basis/platform to then expand.

It's not like they're coming out of nowhere and tossing around money at names. I think the people running that organization are pretty smart about how they've gone about things.

If they're looking at getting onto CBS, sans Gary Shaw, Fedor might be the way to do it.

Any actual fan of MMA should have wanted to See Fedor in the UFC over Strikeforce. If you think the UFC has a weak HW division, look at what Strike Force has. a bunch of nothing. I think this is bad news for the fans really.

Brock Lesnar is blowing a sigh of relief I bet. He knows he didn't want anything to do with Fedor. He said so on Jim Rome. Dana was gonna push him into doing something he believed he wasn't prepared for.

That was after what he said on Jim Rome.Lesnar was clearly caught off guard when Rome brought up Fedors name but now he's prepared for those questions.

Both Heavyweight divisions are weak and have nothing. but since its UFC ,there fighters are automatically better? Is that what your saying?

If you are really going to argue that Strikeforce's 4 heavyweight that they currently have on their roster is better than what the UFC has to offer then you are a bigger fanboy than I thought.

Way to avoid my post. Well done fanboy.

List the Strikeforce HW's and the UFC HW's and let's debate it. You have nothing.
