Monson is terrible. I would pick just about all the top UFC heavyweights to beat him.

He does have that BADASS look that MMA needs for their heavyweight champion though.

And "terrible" is a bit harsh. Sure, Monson is a cut below the best heavyweights...but he has his share of quality wins, he is active and once he gets a choke on his opponent, he almost ALWAYS capitalizes on it with his phenominal strength.

He is 31-8 overall and his only loss in his past 9 fights over the last two years was a reasonably close decision loss to Josh Barnett in Sengoku. He has two decent wins recently over Ricco Rodriguez and Kharitonov.

    So he isn't terrible.

If he was a good fighter, he would've smashed Tim Sylvia to pieces! He didn't....so he sucks ass!

If not smash Tim, then at least beat him. Which is why I don't rate Jeff Monson. He's a stout short little sh*t with a good amount of ground skills and f*ck all ability on his feet. How are you going to be any kind of striker when you're carrying all that muscle mass along with being a midget with midget arms?
The guy thinks he's a boxer or something. He's part of the old man's club now. Young guys coming in need to be fast, powerful and have all-round ability. Monson is just too muscle bound and he's useless on his feet. AND he got owned by Tim Sylvia both on his feet and on the ground. How do you take this chump seriously at all? The guy was convincingly handled on the ground by that big stupid oaf Tim Sylvia.
Monson is a no-hoper in today's world. He needs to retire along with Ricco and Coleman.

Alot of what you said was right. Alot was wrong too.

Monson gets ANYONE on the ground while he's in top position and they are in danger pal.

    Anyone.

Yes....that's why Tim was smiling and laughing and practicing north/south chokes and triangle chokes on him for 5 rounds, huh?
    Come on Explo! You're reaching!

I was majorly dissapointed when Kharitanov lost to Monson as I feel Sergei is one of the top hw when he's on ( unfortunately, he seems off most of the time since his injuries ). Monson is on a good strike, but he need at least another big win before a title shot

Jeff Monson got tooled by Tim Sylvia. Enough said. On the ground, standing, everywhere the fight went, Monson had NOTHING.

Get the fuck out of here with this shit! Monson is garbage.

    How about Lyoto ?

I think so. Lyoto's evade and punish style could beat Lesnar. Obviously one take down with Brock on top would change everything.

I think Lyoto can defeat any opponent in the Octagon. From the first time I watched this guy on TV I knew he was a special fighter. In the next 12 months Machida will become a huge draw ala Silva and GSP

Machida is the goods, but skill can only take you so far against a guy so much bigger and stronger. I would say no way would Lyoto win that fight. Way too much of a size difference.
