Just watched it on youtube. Good one round of action.

Conyers came out wild as hell and Kirkland ran into one trading like and idiot. He was dropped and hurt, but he recovered real quick and was steady when the action resumed. Unlike Conyers who got dropped seconds later and his legs never recovered and he got KO'd.

    REED - my thoughts exactly.

And regarding Kirkland's chin, I think it's fine.

I just watched that Conyers fight. He walked into a couple of BIG shots, was knocked down, got up a little groggy, before he had a chance to recover he took a couple more flush shots, but took them fine, recovered and then knocked conyers down.

His chin is decent, he's going to get knocked down a few times sure, purely because he just walks into shots.

I'm beginning to be a Kirkland fan.

He's an incredibly basic fighter, but that's sort of what I like about him. Get gets in the ring, comes forward and fights non stop, and that's all there is to it

I don't usually go dredging up old threads, but after seeing articles this week about Alfredo Angulo's return to the ring Friday night, I began thinking of this thread...specifically the Angulo-Kirkland discussions and shelf life of that fight.

At least Angulo's still boxing, and still relatively highly ranked.

Does anyone still think Angulo is that good? Lots of praise for the guy in this thread. I know how most of you feel about Cintron.

It didn't take long... I officially don't care if these guys ever fight now.

It's ONE Loss...Most DEFINITELY a SET BACK, yet Not Enough to Completely Write Off Angulo Either, N REED's Opinion...It's NOT like he Got KO'ed or even DROPPED in the Cintron Bout...

Angulo's SLOTH Like Pace & Infinite HITTABILITY Finally Bit him in the Ass...IS Angulo "That Good"???...Maybe NOT, but it's STILL Toooooooooooo EARLY to Completely Kick him to the Curb...

But the fact he couldn't beat Cintron looks awful... to me anyway.

SURE, it Looks Awful....REED WON'T Even Attempt to CANDYCOAT it, but the Fact REMAINS, it was just ONE Loss...Cintron had 2 EMBARRASSING KO Losses, yet has Now Rebounded and Placed Himself SQUARELY in the MIDDLE of the Jr. Middle Picture...

There's NO Reason Angulo CAN'T Learn from this Loss & Do LIKEWISE...

It's funny how it looks so awful that Angulo lost to Cintron when Margarito's first fight with Cintron was virtually a pick-em fight and his win over him launched him from obscurity.

It's also funny that Cintron is thought to be so awful when the only guy he's lost to managed to beat Cotto who most people still think of as the best welterweight in the world right now.

Finally, it's funny that the only guy Cintron lost to was caught loading his gloves with plaster paris, a probably factor in his win both over Cintron and Cotto.

Cintron just needs a chance to prove himself against a good opponent. At 147. Turns out the only "good" fighter there willing to take him on was a cheater. Let's see how he does on an even playing field. If anyone good will fight him that is.

It helps when you don't count the loss(es) to Martinez?

He didn't lose to Martinez. And he certainly didn't lose to him more than once. WTF are you talking about?

Huh? He was knocked out by Martinez, and lost a decision to him in the same fight? And yet his record indicates he drew with him? It's obvious why Cintron was awarded a draw in that fight. I can understand someone's questioning the decision, but at the same time I see exactly why Martinez wasn't awarded the victory.

I don't understand why everyone hates Cintron so much. But he's on his way to vindication. His dominant victory over Angulo, a guy most of us picked to beat him, is just the start.

Thankfully, Mosley has put an end to the wake of crime and deception that Margarito was stirring. Now real competitors can have at it to decide who the best fighter is at 147.

Well, if his records indicates it, then I guess that's all there is too it.

    Thanks for the insight.

Cintron should try to get a fight with Quintana. Both guys are in a position of having to prove themselves.

Quintana's supposedly fighting Verno Phillips on Versus.

Cintron's on the cusp of two titles. One of them is Martinez's, who hasn't fought in a while.

What do you mean two titles? Is he supposed to rematch Martinez? Who else's title is he on the cusp of winning?

Cintron should get a fight with Spinks. He'd beat him easily.

I'm not being a smart-azz or anything. But what do you mean, "wow?" Can you expound on that?

Because anyone who didn't score that fight for Martinez is an idiot.

And if you don't understand what he means by the knockout, you obviously didn't watch that fight.
