Filipino boxing hero and world pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao says he would be “very happyâ€￾ to fight for the World Boxing Council’s newly-minted “Diamond Beltâ€￾ and “appreciates the offerâ€￾ which was made by WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman.
giltorresjr: Under the proposal the WBC wants promotions to “render homage to the two greatest fighters of such division who will be showcased in the battle for the belt.â€￾ Sulaiman told us the belt will use the same design as the famous WBC green and gold belt but the material will include 18 karat gold fusion and will be encrusted with 598 diamonds, 196 emeralds, 6 rubies and 150 other semi-precious stones.

NOW WE HAVE MOFUCKING MILLION DOLLAR BELT IN BOXING (LEGENDARY)

Of course the boxers will be honored to "render homage" to the WBC and pay for the diamond encrusted belt through higher sanctioning fees. :shit:

Please tell me there will not be sanctioning fees involved now? It's almost as if they made up a new belt just for this reason.

I found this picture of the belt in question:

I laughed for a while at the WBC's assertion that there are "rubbies" on the belt. What exactly is a "rubby"? Isn't that what you get at backroom massage parlors for $20?

Pacquiao is still a fucking tool!

Suleiman just wants his sanctioning fee nothing more. This stupid belt won't mean anything as far as his legacy.

Not to long ago Pacquiao claimed he was bigger than belts and he didn't need them now he wants to fight for the WBO 147 belt which he don't deserve at 145 and now this silly piece of shit.

Shit looks like Ted Dibiasi's belt from the WWF in the 80's :atu:

It's not the belt Pacquiao is concerned with it's the championship itself. I know he said that quote years ago but now those championships hold a lot of weight.

He's making history with how far he's come up in weight along with the championships he's won along the way.

Yeah but what does this new catch weight WBC represent? nothing! just sanctioning fees for the WBC if he is stupid enough to fight for it.

As far as the WBO I think Pacquiao should go up to 147 if he wants it. He did if for Oscar he could and should do it for Cotto if a belt is on the line.

If Pac retires after winning this fight, will he become the Diamond champion in recess? Or if PBF and JMM also fight in catchweight, will they get their own Diamond belt (perhaps an Interim Diamond champion). The winners could meet for WBA undisputed diamond chapionship

You know what's funny, if this was 2 years ago before the DLH and Hatton fights, and Manny was scheduled to fight Cotto, you would all be calling it a mismatch, "manny will get killed" etc. Now he's a PUSSY for getting Cotto to drop two fucking pounds, and that he would like Cotto to put his belt on the line? Boo fucking hoo. If Cotto was that confident in himself he should have no problems putting his title on the line.

Dude, a welterweight champ will fight at the welterweight limit to earn his title, or at least will let the current champ fight at that weight. Pacquiao wants to weaken Cotto by making him drop pounds. That's utterly coward IMO. Like some people said, if he fought Oscar at 147 lbs, he should do the same with Cotto.

Well Pac dropped 7 pounds to fight Hatton, no issue there, it's not like it's a huge ask to drop 2 pounds.

It's Cotto who has something to prove, not Pac. If part of the contract states the fight is to take place at 145, then take the fight at 145. The reason, and the only reason, that Cotto is not putting his title on the line is because he isn't confident he can win. End of, if you're that confident you're gonna win, put the belt up for grabs, fuck it, he ain't gonna win it anyway, right?

Disagree! Cotto won the belt @ welterweight not @ 145. Just because Pac is p4p#1 as of now dosent mean he can get his way with everything. If Pac is so confident he can win then fighting Cotto @147 shouldnt be a issue. Cotto will gladly put the belt on the line.
