Torres is always fun to watch and Bowles can actually fight a little bit. I am also looking forward to Jeff Curran fighting Mizugaki. Mizugaki is the dude that pushed Torres in his last fight. Curran is going to have his hands full. Main Card Bantamweight Championship bout: Miguel Torres vs. Brian Bowles Bantamweight bout: Jeff Curran vs. Takeya Mizugaki Bantamweight bout: Joseph Benavidez vs. Dominick Cruz Lightweight bout: Ricardo Lamas vs. Danny Castillo
Marcus Hicks is ON the Card, but his Fight WON'T B Televised...REED's Homey BADLY Needs a Win.... REED:doh:
Maybe we'll get to see it if the other fights are over quick. Shane Roller is a solid guy but Hicks can beat him..
Damn, first Hicks can't make weight, then he loses again. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the last we see of him in the WEC. Too bad, because he's fun to watch. TFK
Very Well COULD B...@ the Time of the Ed Ratcliffe Fight, Marcus Told REED that he had a 3 Fight Deal w/WEC, but that's Now Been EXHAUSTED (Varner, Razor Rob & Tonight's Bout)....Did U SEE the Fight???...& If So, HOW did Marcus Look???... OBVIOUSLY, Being Reduced to the NON-Televised Portion of a WEC Undercard ISN'T Cool...& Now he's LOST Again???... REED:kidcool:
WOW!!!!.... Miguel Torres just Got KnockedTHEFUCKout!!...The Only Thing Missing was Chris Tucker Standing Over him, Saying those Very Words...Instead of Concerning Himself w/Challenging Floyd Mayweater, Torres SHOULD'VE Had his OWN Opponent on his Mind... REED:hammert:
Nice day. Bet on Cruz and Bowles. Finally the P4P myth Torres has been put to rest.... ..for at least a week literally. :hammert::hammert:
The Torres Loss is Potentially CRUSHING for WEC...Urijah Faber was CLEARLY their Poster Boy, Got WAXED by Mike Brown, then LOST the High Profile RE...So WEC FIRMLY Plants their Flag in Miguel Torres' Yard, yet HE Gets WAXED by a Guy that Most Viewers Probably NEVER Heard of.... REED:dunno:
....Bowles looked very good indeed.....wasn't like it was just one shot either....he had Torres down briefly, then took him down before countering Torres as he rushed in....Torres let everything go, went all out attack and paid the price
true, but is there any reason why Bowles can't be a poster boy in his own right......i dunno, i haven't seen any more of him...how has he looked in his other fights? :dunno:
By the way, if you're an MMA fan, WEC 42 on free TV was as good as it gets. Seriously, does it get any better than watching Curran work from his guard and almost end it with the triangle or watching the two wrestlers throwing deadly strikes or the pace of the Benavidez-Cruz bout or the devastating KO of a P4P fighter in Torres. After a relatively lame UFC 101, WEC 42 was suprisingly fun.
REED Certainly ISN'T the Most ASTUTE WEC Watcher, but Because of Marcus Hicks & Urijah Faber, REED TRIES to Keep Up w/them...Miguel Torres Certainly WASN'T an Unknown Commodity to REED... Quite Honestly, REED had NEVER Heard of Bowles UNTIL TONIGHT....& Now, THE BIGGEST Fight in WEC History (Faber vs. Torres) is COMPLETELY SHOT... REED:hammert:
Well, Torres' major flaw finally caught up to him last night. The guy just gets so aggressive at times and so wild. He's been in so many stand up wars lately that's all he does anymore. His striking is decent, but his true stength is his ground game. It's like he forgot all about it in his last few fights. Torres will be back for sure. It's not like he's any less of a fighter because of this. He just got wild and got caught.
It was my first WEC and i thoroughly enjoyed it, i'll definitely be watching the next one. You're right UFC 101 was a disappointment, and i am not too pumped for 102 (btw, isn't the Nate Marquardt-Maia fight by far the most intriguing, and important fight of the evening?) , but the next WEC comes just days after that to make up for it
Absolutely. I realize neither is a mainstream marquee name, but for MMA's fans it is easily the most interesting fight on the card. Nate has been on a tear since the loss to Silva and may be the best 185 pounder south of Silva. On the other hand, Maia has choked out 5 decent fighters in a row in UFC events. Seriously, Ed Herman, Jason MacDonald, Nate Quarry and Chael Sonnen aren't pushovers and Maia made each of them tap in relatively easy fashion. The winner deservedly takes the number 1 contender spot at MW. All that being said, I always love seeing Randy Couture fight so this will be worth watching.
.....i am a big admirer of Maia, his ju-jitsu is just sick.....the throw to triangle he put down on Sonnen is prob the best submission i have seen in the ufc since my recent, and growing, obsession towards it. I just hope Maia can hold his own standing up, because once he's on the ground, he is a major threat to anyone.
