Just read an article from an interview where he sounds like he's getting close to calling it quits. He says he isn't going to hang up the gloves, but rather he's going to burn them. Kind of strange seeing as how he just signed a 2 year extension, but whatever.

Also says he wants to spend more time with his kids who need him. Personally I think he's getting burned out from having to get up for so many back to back superfights, even though he did have that little tuneup after the Margarito loss.

That's 2 more reasons he could lose to Manny. Not being hungry, and being burned out.

This is nothing new. Cotto has been saying for a while now that he wants to be retired at 30, and this was looong before the Margarito fight.

Pacquiao also claims he'll be calling it a day after 3 more fights.

Yep, but how often have we heard fighters say that bullshit. It's easy to want to quit when you're on top. Get old, and have a few loses on your ledger and guys keep fighting looking for those glory days like Roy Jones is doing.

You know what. For once, I really hope a fighter really does quit at 30 and never returns. As much as I enjoy watching Cotto and Pacman fight, if they never fought again they still made the sport exciting. I hope they quit and live long and happy lives. Unfortunately, no boxer know of has ever quit at 30 when they say they will and maybe five have quit near intact and then lived happy lines. For boxers, it rarely ever ends well. I would say 2% of the time. The other 98% end up broke and dead at well before average life expectancy.

Fighters always say that. DLH said he'd be retired by 30, Maywather kept saying he'd retire after DLH and then fought Hatton and then said he was retired and then said he was gonna fight DLH again and then retired again, and now he's back. Hopkins kept saying he'd retire by 40.

    I never believe them.

Do you think Lennox deserves respect for not only retiring but staying retired? Or do you think he should've kept fighting?

He definitely did the right thing. I think his hunger was gone as he was out of challenges. Other than a Vitali rematch there was no reason for him to stay and nobody to challenge him, and Lok please don't come on here with that Ruiz and Chris Byrd bullshit.

Cotto said he signed the extension to end his career with top rank, so that's sort of old news.

that's bullshit. in his final fight against vitali it was clear from his wobbly breasts that he had a lot of hunger and indulged it on a regular basis, with all kinds of food

Of course he does. I would have loved to see a rematch with VK though.
