Hopefully it replaces mens boxing. Women's boxing is definitely better suited to the nature of amateur boxing.
Stupidy. Women's boxing is not yet a big enough sport for Olympics. It should take giant leaps to be a credible sport in 2012
If it gets that ribbon waving crap off my TV I'm all for it. I'm still trying to figure out how synchronized trampoline jumping became an Olympic Sport.................granted, that's still 1000 times better then synchronized swimming. :notallthere:
Just when I thought women's boxing was dead. How is this even possible? Are there enough boxers for this to even happen?
That is kind of weird. My wife barely watches sports but when the Olympics roll around she's always asking me why I don't have them on if I'm not watching it. :dunno:
Trampoline jumping is actually quite a big sport and it surely demands athletic skills. You are right about the swimming though, it is a very minor sport, just like women's boxing
Women's boxing is a fucking joke. It has no real relevance to the conversation, but I just thought I'd mention it.
Yeah, but boxing is established and they can use the same facilities as the men, so it's not that difficult to host.
In same places where other gymnastics is. Especially the eastern countries do that plenty and there is lots of population there
Hosting is not the problem. I am just against the idea of giving Olympic gold medal for being the best in something that three people in the world are interested to do.
That defines about 95% of Olympic Sports. How many ski-jumpers do you actually know? A few Olympics ago England had exactly one.............and he competed in the Olympics and nearly killed himself. ::
Winter games is different. There is a good reason why there are few athletes in them. If ski-jumping was a summer sport and that small, it shouldn't be in the Olympics either. And btw in Finland ski-jumping is extremely popular, so I could easily give you like fifty names. That wouldn't tell the truth about the sport though. Your take was correct in that sense
Ski-jumping has higher viewership and attendance figures during the Four Hills competition than most fights. Not exactly the best example. The female fighters that will compete in boxing won´t even be as good at boxing as Eddie the Eagle was at ski-jumping.
Ski-jumping is dramatic as hell, it's fun to watch. It sure as hell ain't a "huge" sport though. The way I look at it is any boxing is good. I sure as hell am not going to mourn the loss of skeet shooting if womens boxing takes it's place on the schedule. ray:
There's only going to be three weight classes - flyweight, lightweight and middleweight - and 36 atheltes in it in 2012.
You should be happy for you Irish cousins - we taking home the gold. Screw Michael Phelps, we got Katie Taylor ::
