That's right a possible Humberto Soto - Edwin Valero fight is being discussed to possibly be on the Cotto-Pacquiao undercard. I hope this one comes off. Soto who is already training in Tijuana looked very vunerable in his last fight. This would be a very good test for Valero. What do you guys think about this one? Well LatinKing you might get see if Soto is as bad a fighter as you think.
How many times does Top Rank float an undercard fight like this? And how many times does it actually come off? ::
arum claims he's done putting together shitty undercards. he would be a damn fool to cut into his own profits by stacking the card for pacquiao cotto because there are exactly zero boxing fans who will boycott this ppv regardless. most fence fans will show up around 8pm pacific to watch.
You can never trust what Arum says, and I know it is unlikely this fight will come off. I mostly made this thread just to get some discussion on the matchup and add a little life to this dying board.
I like this fight if it comes off man! But let's get real! Soto is a better figher than Valero but Valero is the bigger and stronger guy. It would be Soto moving up to 135 to face Valero. I think it's a toss up! But beating Valero would mean as much as his win over Juarez. Beating a decent fighter with alot of hype. Because of Valero's resume it's hard for me to buy into they hype. but style wise it makes for an action packed fight. I hope it really does happen on the Cotto/Pacquiao undercard.
Latest on the Cotto-Pac undercard and the next Latin Fury installment from Steve Kim... -------------- October 10th- Latin Fury is on at the Theater in MSG Juan Ma Lopez vs Rogers Mtagwa( basically done, I'm told) Yuri Gamboa-Whyber Garcia Odlanier Solis-Kevin Johnson Vanes martirosyan-Pawel Wolak Now, onto Pac-Cotto undercard, latest is that now Valero will most likely take on mandatory challenger Antonio Demarco and HSoto will face either David Diaz or Joel Casamayor as he moves up to 135. There was also talk of Jesus Soto-Karass-Alfonso Gomez( but I dont think Gomez's team takes that fight) But this card is still being worked out.
Thats more like it unfortunately, although I'm interested in solis-johnson, I'm guessing it somehow won't happen on that card
Edwin Valero: No skill Brother Valero is a wide open, know nothing, free swinging joke of a title claimant. He has no boxing skill, no defense, no footwork, no basic knowledge of boxing fundamentals because he has never been taught properly. Mark my words: This young man is going to be hurt seriously in there as wide open as his chin is exposed and his hands are so low.
I agree. I've only seen Valero fight once, but it was so bad and so amateurish I don't want to see him again. He's like Mayorga lite. He has a puncher's chance against almost anyone, but I barely consider him a real boxer. He's more like a sideshow like Butterbean or something. I'm actually glad Soto isn't fighting him.

i agree there are people who will buy it regardless. but i do think there's a contingent of fans who presented with a shitty u/c would be just as happy to wait a week and catch the replay on HBO. don't you think the loss of these viewers is cutting into his profits?
Ignorant hunh? Based off the opinion of one fight? Obviously you ain't no fucking genius yourself, and next time why don't you make a point rather than just call someone a name and moving on.
Marc Abrams of 15 rounds one of a couple new outlets reporting Daniel Santos-Yuri Foreman could land on Pacquiao-Cotto: I assume some on here will suggest they'd need to watch Pac-Cotto just to wake up from that fight. Another other potential date is December 5th in Atlantic City.
santos delivering a fatal left hand to foreman's larynx would certainly upstage anything cotto or pacquiao can deliver
Santos will never upstage anything from Cotto and pacquiao. The guy sucks and is boring as hell. I remember a while back a card in PR with Cotto, Calderon, and Santos. I remember the PR crowd booing Santos. Boricuas don't even like that scrub.
santos has some highlight reel knockouts on his resumé, compared to foreman he is erik morales when it comes to excitement. if he murdered foreman in the ring and cotto pacquiao ended in a no contest due to a clash of heads in the first round I'd still consider it money well spent for the ppv.
Kevin Iole reporting that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has a hearing today that could affect Edwin Valero's status.
Soto has a good chin. If this fight comes off it'll be like a second main event. Here's hoping it does. I haven't seen enough of Valero to confidently pick a winner but it'll definitely be a step up for Valero.
No fight involving Alfonso Gomez is spectacular either. Actually, at least Santos and Foreman are "real" competitors. Gomez is a club fighter and any pretense that he's anything but that, such as putting him on an U/C that's labelled as spectacular, is a joke.
I understand what you're saying, though honestly, I don't have a problem with that fight being on the undercard. Pacquiao-Cotto will be one of the highest rated boxing ppv's this year and with that audience comes more casual viewers, ones who'd probably be more interested in watching the kind of fight Soto Karass and Gomez would produce, regardless of the skill level involved. In fact, given that less skill often leads to more excitement, they'd probably prefer it...and you could probably throw a number of boxing fans into the same group, because Foreman and Santos aren't that popular among boxing fans. That's not to say I disagree entirely with your point about Santos-Foreman being a much higher level bout.
