olympic scoring sucks

I am amazed at how fucking ridiculous this is. I invested a ton of time only to ultimately get fucked on the most important matches. Someone needs to get fired. Probably more than one person.

 

It's cool that they put the gold medal matches on NBC, but as a hardcore fan who tried watching every match available, I wish it was all on CNBC.

 

There were THREE gold medal matches on NBC. I thought I set my DVR to record the gold medal matches on CNBC but when I got back Saturday night I it wasn't on my DVR.

I think there were more than 3; I think it was 7 or 8. Some on saturday and some on sunday.
I didn't find gold matches on telemundo or cnbc. Anyone know if there were any shown?

This would be a bigger story if it was Oleksandr Usyk instead of Glazkov, but still interesting to note that there's a possibility that K2 will sign Glazkov, because he was a member of what was one of the best teams at the Olympics, in terms of pro prospects.

That Chinese guy was a complete scrub despite getting a lucky silver medal. Cammarelle, who is no better than Chagaev or Sultan, whacked him around

 

I think Cammarelle is better, but otherwise spot on. Both chinese finalists were clowns. I really hope the chinese light-heavyweight gold medalist turns pro. That clown was in the wrong sport. Never landed a punch in the whole tournament and won it with his greco-roman wrestling moves. He´d get fucked up by some journeyman.

 

The country won their first boxing medal five years ago...and their first gold last year, so some perspective might be in order.

You don't think it's a positive step that there's a deal in place for them to have some work with American trainers?

That was a longtime criticism of the Eastern European amateurs turning professional.

There's certainly potential in China for growth in the sport.

No, it is definitely a good thing that we get new faces from different areas of the world and China sure has great potential and masses to create world champions. My comment was a response to Lou Duva's hype of this heavyweight boxer who by no means is a world class hopeful

 

They didn´t win, they were handed medals, but this first generation of hopefuls will fail horribly in the pros and they deserve it for stealing from more deserving amateurs, who worked their butts off for their Olympic dreams. Rude awakening is in order and not Freddie Roach and the ghosts of Eddie Futch will save them.

 

There were a lot of undeserving winners in the Olympics, even going by the amateur scoring system, and that wasn't just in the medal rounds...but I don't think you can just single out the Chinese team as the only ones that benefitted from it, though they were the home team and some of their boxers certainly did benefit.

So be it. I watched about as much of those Olympics as was possible for me and I think there were a lot of fighters victimized by bad scoring, and fighters from more than one country that benefitted from it.

China was the host team, and they did have some preferential scores.

 

I didn't think the Chinese guy was very good, either. Cammarelle is comparable to Chagaev, imo, but probably better than Sultan.
