Brett Rogers, very good matchup but, like the Carwin-Brock fight, I think it would have been better for the challenger ( or Rogers in this case ) to fight another name opponent before to see where they stand, but should be a fight with plenty of fireworks. Strange, had I been StrikeForce I would have given Werdum the first shot at Fedor, he's a name opponent who is basically sure to lose spectacularly to him, Rogers is a much bigger risk imo.
Rogers may or may not be the best challenger Strikeforce has to offer, but i think he is the most dangerous
I can get kind of excited about this fight only because Rogers is a huge guy with a big punch. Other than that, I can only assume Fedor is worlds better than Rogers in every other aspect. Rogers is pretty much a complete unknown, nobody has a clue how good this guy is. It's only interesting because Rogers is undefeated and you just never know how good a guy is until he's tested. I don't think he's passing this test.
agREED Z, Rogers can really crack and he's a big guy but this is a serious test.. and Fedor will get him down and sumbit him IMO
Brett Rogers will Bring the Right MENTALITY into the Cage Against Fedor, but he's LACKING the Weapons...Obviously, Rogers' BEST Chance is to Keep the Fight Standing Because he's Completely UNKNOWN & UNTESTED on the Ground... ANYTHING Can Happen in MMA, but Fedor has Sooooooooooo MANY Ways to Beat Rogers that it's a 99.9999% GUARANTEE that he'll Win...Rogers' ONLY Chance is to Blast Fedor Out EARLY...But if/when the Fight Gets to the Ground OR the 2nd Round, Rogers Might as Well TAP OUT Right Then... INTERESTING Matchup, No Doubt, & a COMPETITIVE Fight Early...But by the Time it's Over, Fedor will have OUTCLASSED Rogers... REED:kidcool:
The thing is, there's nothing Rogers can bring that Fedor hasn't seen. Even if Rogers does have a great ground game, Fedor has faced, and beaten, fighters with great ground games. Rogers on the other hand, has never faced anyone close to having the skills Fedor has. Rogers best hope is that Fedor has fallen in love with his power after KOing Arlovski and dropping Sylvia, that he tries to take Rogers out standing. Fedor should win this fight, but this is MMA, and there are no guarantees. Rogers definitely has a punchers chance, so an upset, while not likely, isn't completely out of the question. Still, this is the best Non-UFC fight out there for Fedor, at least in this country. Barnett is still out there, but I can't see him ever fighting in America again. TFK
good points Fedor might think he can trade with Rogers and could get knocked out If Fedor is smart he just takes ROgers down quick good fight..IMO they should have built this fight up a little more though
Fedor gets overly aggressive at times and throws wide sloppy bombs. That is the only chance Rogers has. Fedor may have fallen in love with his power. I seriously doubt Rogers pulls it off though.
I agree, they could have had Rogers fight Overheem and Fedor fight Werdum on the next card as a title shot eliminator. Who cares of the outcomes, it could've been three really great main events. I am gonna guess, they are going to have Fedor fight Rogers, then Werdum, then Overheem. If I remember, they signed a three fight deal.
All the while Overeem will fight in other mma orgs and in K-1 and not defend the belt. The only thing I can say that I absolutely hate about Strikeforce is they have so called Champions who never fight. Cung Le and Overeem should both be stripped.
Without a doubt. Le should be mandated to fight Diaz or Lawler. If he doesn't, he's stripped. Overeem should be the same, with either Werdum or the winner of Fedor/Overeem, if he doesn't he's stripped. :fightme:
Fedor "LOOKS" terrible in there standing up,.. I mean in certain ways he looks awkward and open, but he is one of them guys that have natural "heavy hands" he put Arvoliskivy to sleep while he was in the air with one shot, I think Brett might be going to sleep if they stand up much.. but if Fedor gets him down there is no doubt in anyone's minds that Brett is done
The Fedor\Mousasi exhibition is coming up shortly on HDNet, for those of you who have the channel. If you don't, and you're an MMA fan, you MUST get it. This has been a terrible card so far though. TFK
Fedor subbed Mousasi with an armbar in the first in a bout where both guys were going half speed and not really trying. A couple of good judo throws by Fedor, but neither fighter put anything behind their punches or kicks or put any pressure on their sub attempts. TFK
King Mo just beat the stupid out of Kerr in like 10 seconds. Single leg takedown, took his back and just teed off on Kerr's head, KOing him. I'd love to see Mo step up in competition. TFK
Man, It is sooo damn sad to see Kerr like this. Clearly just fighting for the money. One of the worst falls from grace in MMA.
Rogers is a scary matchup for Fedor. Rogers is smooth on his feet at 265 pounds and can bang as well as any MMA Heavyweight. Rogers is clearly untested but the guy is extremely confident, relaxed and a good striker. He never even blinked against the once highly regarded Arlovski. The balls he showed going right at Arlovski is exactly the attitude needed when stepping in against the best HW on the planet. The bottom line is Rogers is a big, fearless puncher and he can stop Fedor. As TFK said, this is probably best non-UFC matchup out there for Fedor and I'm excited.
Its always the hungry unestablished fighters that can create the upset and I think Rogers is that guy.I'm picking him to win
I highly doubt it. Anyone can look like a good striker against c-level opponents and for 20 seconds with a shell shocked Arlovski. Brett Rogers has been taken down in almost every fight that I have seen him in, and that is not even against a single high level opponent. Unless Fedor gets old overnight, or gets caught with a money punch. He should toy with Brett.
He is completely unproven right now. TFK is right, Dream and Sengoku are feeding him cans and building up his hype right now. I'm dead serious, I bet he will be fighting Choi in next 3 fights. Its the perfect matchup for him. The guy is a slow non-ground gaming oaf. I don't think Mo would beat any top 10 HW at this moment.
wow, I think you're reachig . Wiuff was a great opponent for a debut, and fabio silva and kawamura are decent fighter. I think he's matched pretty hard for a young prospect. also, AFAIK, he fights mostly at 205, not at hw
