great first round, Nog made a very big mistake by trying the choke and not following up with strikes after flooring badly couture

True but both are way past it. Both would be terribly beaten by Brock.

I think both these guys needs to retire. Randy especially.

Hard to believe Nog is only 33. The man looks randy's age.

I think style wise, Nog is the most dangerous fight in the UFC for Lesnar.

Some really good fights tonight. Nog\Couture, Dunham\Aurelio and in spite of the ending, Herman\Simpson were all excellent fights. Plus a few highlight reel KO's and a pretty good sub by Rosholt. Well worth the price of the PPV.

Must admit, for a couple of washed up fighters, it was a great fight. No tougher dude at 46 than Couture. Nog also showed that he really was sick during his fight with Mir. Still a shell of himself, Nog can still make some noise in the division. Just not against Brock.

Before the fight, Couture signed a 6 fight extention with the UFC, so he's not even close to retiring.

Look for Couture to face Anderson Silva at 205, while Marquardt and Henderson face each other to see who the top contender is at 185.

Randy Couture is something else. The dude is 46 and had many opportunities during the fight with Nog to fold his tent and call it a night. But he just kept pressing.

There are a lot of guys, like Liddell, that I want to see just retire. But man I hope Randy keeps fighting. The guy is unreal.

Couture got very lucky a few times, especially in the 3rd, that the fight wasn't stopped. If he wasn't Randy Couture and was just some up and comer, I think the fight would've been stopped.

I dont know. I think both should retire. IMO they both look really bad. Maybe i just remember how Great Nog use to be, and to him this way just blows my mind. The man really looks like he is 50 years old. Randy too. He just doesnt have it anymore. Both these guys will be real assets to the sport for years to come, whether it be training or commentating, etc. I dont want to see something bad happen.

Randy is still impressive at mid 40's.

But Nog? He seems so much older than 33. He is like a year older than Fedor

All I know is that it was one of the more entertaining HW MMA fights I've seen in a long time.

I think both guys should keep fighting. Nog is still young and looked miles better than he did against Mir.

Couture always gives it 150%. He competed on even terms for a round with Lesnar and gave Nog a fight. Why retire? Plus, you can tell the guy just loves the game.

They could both continue...Nog showed that he wasn't completely shot, as he looked vs Mir. They aren't anywhere near their best, but there are paydays to be made, and they provide a big test for any upcoming heavyweights. Chuck Liddell should retire, neither of these guys are as far gone as he is.

Of course Nog didnt look shot. He was fighting against a guy 13 years older than him. You guys arent seeing the big picture. Put nog in the ring with Mir again, and its the same thing.

I dunno, as old as Couture is, he landed some big shots on Nog...and Nog took them all well.....Mir might hit harder, but he was putting Nog down with so much ease, it suggests that Nog just wasn't in good shape. I think his performance on saturday earn't him the benefit of the doubt.

I agree 100%. Sure Randy's old. Sure Nog looked like shit against Mir. But let Nog in the cage again to find out for sure where he is. Personally I think, regardless of the opponent, he looked like a different animal Saturday night.

I don't think so. Are you really saying you didn't see a huge difference in the nog who fought Randy? Everything he did was better, he was quicker, he looked stronger, he was 20 pounds lighter.

The nog who fought Randy doesn't get stopped by Mir. This was a much better Nog for sure.

Funny how everyone is shitting on Couture now, but not even a year ago they were clamoring for him to fight Fedor.
