if they fought right now... most likely Moralass but Fenech is almost a heavyweight these days so who knows?

I think in the ring I'd give it to Moralass right now, Fenech is old and fat

but in a bar room brawl, I think Fenech would still whop Morasshole

Yeah well thats why I said I would sound ignorant, I actually think it would be easy for him, and not just clear...
And I love Fenech... but...just don't see it.

When did Morales ever have an easy fight at 126lb against a meaningful opponent though? He almost died beating Espadas & Chi

I'd take Fenech. Morales would be unable to keep himself from brawling with Jeff. Plus Morales has always been defensively retarded. Erik Morales was NO Azumah Nelson. Not even close honestly.

Morales's best weapon is the straight right hand, which always seemed to me to be the punch that troubled Fenech the most. But I also agree with what was said about Morales having almost nothing but tough fights at 126 and Fenech was strong and tireless. I dont see this as easy or clear for Morales at all, Fenech is close to even money in this to me

Good points made by all. I think Fenech eeks out a decision. It's very tight --- you need a buzzsaw attack against Morales, & who better at the weight than Fenech? It's enough to get him home, but only by the skin of his teeth in a twelve-round MD. You'd need more than one fight.

Fenech is still one of the most under-rated Featherweights in Boxing history.

I too enjoy this fellow. He likes Arguello and Olivares, so he's alright in my book

Olivares, to me, is ahead of Chavez, Lopez & Zarate, as Mexico's greatest ever.

    excellent list

    mine would look like:

    1. Julio Cesar Chavez
    2. Ruben Olivares
    3. Sal Sanchez
    4. Carlos Zarate
    5. Juan Manuel Marquez

I'd have Lopez at 6... I just can't put him on the list ahead of any of these guys fighting in a traditionally shallow division all those years, but I agree he was brilliant

It's too bad Chavez & Sanchez didn't meet. That could've eventuated, had Sanchez's career taken its natural trajectory. Of course, Sanchez had been fairly adamant about leaving the sport soon, but, with the right fight on the horizon, or other circumstances conspiring to keep him inside the ropes, it might've been the biggest & grandest all-Mexican clash in the country's history.

Certainly feasible... Sanchez very likely would have been a 130 pounder at around the time Chavez made his first big splash by stopping Martinez... Would have been great to see
