And I think you are thinking too much on how JMM USED to fight when in actuality the last few fights for a fighter JMM's age should be more indicative of how he'd look against Floyd. Sure he used to be better at defense and adapting then he is now, but it's more than likely due to the fact that he's either already begun losing those skills or that he has just stopped using them consistently. All fighters slowly go through a process of getting worse than in their prime and JMM isn't at an age where he will get better but rather doing exactly as he's showing and slowly fading. I've seen Tito slowly become a guy who was a patient boxer to a guy who slugged more, I've seen Mosley go from a guy who was body, body, body to a guy who hit the body way less, and neither one went back to the skill they abadoned later. So I think any skills JMM hasn't used lately probably won't miraculously show up again when he steps in the ring with Floyd.
I still think it was less adaptability on JMM's part and more of Diaz' slowing down from JMM's effective offense against him. Sure he was able to slip Diaz' punches later, but Diaz had slowed down quite noticeably at that point and it was fairly obvious that JMM's power was the reason for that. It's the same thing with the uppercut everyone claims he adapted and was able to land later. He was throwing it from the outset, but Diaz didn't really start getting hit with it until he started to slow down.
Well he still had the ability to adapt as he did vs Casa and Diaz... he slugs it more but i think it has to do more with tryin to be more fan friendly, against PBF he will be more aggressive cuz he has to, but not be reckless. But I do think that was a good post.
Hes a bad defensive fighter with a bad chin and has been knocked out never. Great boxing knowledge you posses.
Slow ya Roll, HOT SAUCE... WHEN Did REED Call Marquez a "Bad" Defensive Fighter???....& How Many Times has Marquez TASTED the Canvas &/or Been VISIBLY STAGGERED in a Fight???... REED's FORGOTTEN More than U'll EVER Know about Boxing, but Hey, U've Always Got AND-1 & the Harlem Globetrotters to Fall Back On... REED:hammert:
Did Hot Sauce bone you girl or something. You sure seem to be obsessed with him all of a sudden. I havn't even watched AND1 in years. I guess you just like to be wrong.
Nah... REED has NO Connection Whatsoever to Hot Sauce, but YOU Do, Since YOU PROCLAIMED that he was YOUR "Favorite Athlete"... Your Username is Roy Jones Related, So REED Figured he'd Call You "HOT SAUCE", Since he's YOUR Favorite Athlete & All...Don't Resist, EMBRACE it, Hot Sauce!!!!... REED:hammert:
How is an older smaller slower fighter gonna be able to pressure PBF and expect to have success. I just don't see that happening. People keep talking about how Marquez was able to beat up Casa and Diaz. But PBF is light years ahead of those 2 dudes. The only way I see PBF losing this fight is if he gets older then the 36 y/o dude he's fighting and his skills have decreased hella. If not this is an easy "W" for PBF. I'll Holla 5000
JMM has been able to adjust to speed very well, including against a fighter faster than PBF in PAC!!! WAR JMM!!!!
I have Mayweather down as a big favourite in this fight too, i can see Marquez having sporadic success....regardless of size, he is one of the sharpest and most accurate punchers Mayweather has ever fought. Very few guys can land cleanly on Mayweather, Marquez could get through with something....but they'll only be brief successes, maybe only enough to steal a round here and there. Ultimately, Mayweather is better, or at least as good as Marquez in nearly every department, plus he's the bigger, younger guy.
Castillo did it pretty easily, and he's not half the fighter Marquez is. (Well ok, an exaggeration but Marquez is a better fighter)
Marquez ISN'T as BIG or STRONG as Castillo Either...NOR Does he have the Chin a Prime Castillo Had.... REED:mj:
Please, its not like Mayweather even hit Castillo with any significant punches in those fights either though, he didn't need his great chin for that fight. Its constant pressure, body punching and combinations that will win this fight for JMM.
REED Can't Recall if it was the 1st or 2nd Bout, but During the Post Fight Interview, Castillo ADMITTED to Being HURT 1nce or Twice...Was it the Referee Hitting Him???:dunno:.... Castillo was a HUGE, STRONG Lightweight, NOT Some Guy that had 1 or 2 Fights There...BIGGER than Marquez...If Marquez BRINGS the Fight to Floyd, he'll Get Taken Out even EARLIER than REED Thinks he Will... REED:hammert:
Castillo also claimed to be hurt by Julio Diaz. I don't think PBF ever hurt him. It doesn't matter though because JMM doesn't have the size or chin that Castillo did. Plus, JMM isn't known as a pressure fighter. In fact, it's difficult to imagine his being comfortable coming forward and leading all fight long. That's why I think his best chance is to counter the counter. My biggest fear is that PBF will ultimately start teeing off on JMM the way he did Jesus Chavez. Granted, JMM is a much better fighter than Chavez ever was and won't apply the sloppy pressure that Chavez did. But like Chavez, JMM will give up height, size and speed to PBF.
Yeah and he was hurt and stopped horribly against Cesar Soto as well, he has a great chin but it doesn't mean he can't be hurt, the difference with Castillo and Marquez is that they have faced just about the same level of opposition and though Marquez has been down, he has never been out, so maybe something to think about here. And trust me you don't seem to understand, PBF can't take skilled pressure, sure one punch at a time followin you around pressure is fine for PBF but constant 80 punches a round, off the jab to the body pressure, while throwin 3-5 combinations, is going to be trouble for him, we will see how great PBF's chin really is, cuz thats what I think will be the key here, if Marquez can hurt PBF, its all but over.
castillo also weighed 10lbs more than mayweather jr in the ring. marquez will in all likelihood weigh the same or less than mayweather jr and be at a major strength disadvantage.
Since WHEN is Marquez an 80 Punch Per Round Guy???...U Act as if Floyd's Gonna Go into a Shell & ALLOW a Guy to Fire Off 80 Shots Per Round @ him...There WILL B a Price to Pay for Being THAT Active Against Floyd Mayweather.... Castillo has Faced BIGGER Men than Marquez has & Arguably Faced BETTER Punchers...As HARD as Manny Pac Hits, is he Any MORE of a Puncher than Chico Corrales was???...Barrera was NEVER Really a Puncher, yet he Had Marquez on QUEER Street...If that Knockdown had Occured EARLIER in the Round, who Knows what Would've Happened???... As for Floyd's CHIN, DeLa Caught him w/1 or 2 FLUSH Left Hooks...No Way in Hell Does Marquez Hit HARDER than DeLa... REED:nono:
Marquz was throwing over 80 punches a round in his last fight. 732 punches in 8.5 rounds is about 85 punches per round.
& This is THE NORM for Him OR the Product of Having a Guy w/Diaz's Aggression & Workrate, CONSTANTLY Firing @ him???... Do YOU Honestly Expect Marquez to Fire 80+ Punches PER Round Against Floyd???.... REED:mj:
I don't expect it. You asked the question and i gave you the answer to a question you should have known. You was at Marquez's last fight.
