Gusmyl Perdomo (16-2, 10 KOs) and German WBA super middleweight world champion Mikkel Kessler (41-1, 31 KOs) will face off this Saturday night on Showtime. Kessler's bout will be shown tape delay, Andre Ward (19-0, 12 KOs) is showcased against suitably vulnerable Shelby Pudwill (22-3, 9 KOs & 1 draw). James Toney will also be on the undercard but unfortuneately as an untelevised portion.

I think Kessler will be part of the final pair alongside Dirrell, I think Froch and Taylor will finish in last place, Arabham and Ward lose in the semi's,..it's a real fucken shame other divisions can't experience tourniments like this, with fighters like Hopkins and Fraud around, it can never be achieved.

FYI, I copied that from another source and didn't even notice that. I guess since Kessler is training in Germany that gives them the right to claim him as one of their own.

If they lose we get fantastic 4 instead of super 6.

    SPOILERS:

    From here on....

    Perdomo looks sleepy...

.. and the girl, who screamed the anthem looks like she fell asleep under a tanning bed.

Kessler struggeld with his timing for two minutes and Perdomo was actually landing some bodyshots, but in the last minute Kessler found his timing and landed some two nice combinations.

True. After two rounds completed this looks like another typical Kessler fight where he will dominate but not destroy a solid but not top level opponent

    30-26 Kessler

Kessler starts fo follow up his jab with the straight right. And down goes Perdomo in the 3rd round from a right.

...and it´s over Kessler wins TKO4. Refs steps in to save a wobbling Perdomo, who falls down immediately after the ref stops it. Looked like it might have been a bit premature, even with Perdomo stumbling to the ground, but everything to protect the super six. :partie:

A quick stoppage but it seemed it was a case of sooner rather than later.

Kessler is the favorite to win the tournament. Sig bets will be taken

REED'll CERTAINLY Take U Up on the Tourney Sig Bet Because Kessler WON'T Win It...REED's Leaning Towards Dirrell, but Abraham is his DARKHORSE Pick...

really?.....it wouldn't surprise me if Abraham came bottom of this whole thing. He's a beast at 160, i think at 168 he'll be neutralised.

Abraham's a SMALL Ass Supermiddle & it Remains 2 B Seen how he Fares in the Tourney, but he's THE Most UNpredictable Guy in the ENTIRE Tourney, in REED's Opinion...

I think, based on level of competition, Dirrell is the most unpredictable guy here. We know he has bags of ability, but we haven't seen him pushed. That makes Dirrell my dark horse.....conforming with the consensus, i think Kessler is a clear favourite.

In the Case of Dirrell, he's TALL, FAST, has RESPECTABLE POP & Fights from Either Stance EFFECTIVELY...Even Though REED ISN'T Sold on Dirrell's CHIN, REED is EXPECTING him to Get Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Into the Tourney...

    He'll Likely STOP Froch...

REED ISN'T Sold on Kessler...His Claim to Fame is LOSING to Calzaghe...Stylistically, EVERY Guy in the Tourney will B a MORE Formidable Opponent for Kessler than Librado Andrade was...

Shit, REED ISN'T Sooooooooo Sure Kessler will Even Beat Andre Ward & REED ISN'T High on Ward @ All...

As for Abraham, he has THE Most UNORTHODOX Style & he's Probably THE BEST PURE Puncher, Lb for Lb...But it Remains to B Seen IF he Carries that Power Up to Supermiddle w/Him...

Regardless, this Tourney is Perhaps THE BEST Thing to Happen to Boxing in QUITE Some Time & MORE Divisions Should Adopt this Approach...

Kessler HAS to be favored to win it. Dirrell is the darkhorse... he has the talent to win it all... but can he put it together? Froch, and Abraham both have decent shots of winning it, though its not likely. The only two guys who I'm SURE will NOT win it are Taylor, and Ward.

    My 1st round picks are:

    Kessler TKO 10 Ward

    Abraham TKO 9 Taylor

Dirrell-Froch is the hardest of the 3 matchups to pick, but right now I'm thinking Dirrell by UD.

If Dirrell had of beaten the fast, back twisting Mundine in Australia, knocked Beyer out within 3 rounds, then shut Andrade out who has a knockout win over Bute,... would you be 'sold' on him?..infact, you dont need to be, you're 'sold' on Dirrell already. :dunno:

The Same Mundine that even Sven Ottke Managed to KO???...Beyer???...Andrade, a.k.a. the POOR Man's Margarito???...

The Thing Is, REED ISN'T Sold on ANY Particular Guy in the Tournament, which is what Makes it INTRIGUING...EVERY Guy has a Reason for Fans to DOUBT their Chances....But Having Said That, Abraham has WEATHERED the Most Adversity in REED's Opinion, but Outside of that, EVERY Guy is Somewhat UNproven...

Dirrell is the STANDOUT TALENT of the Bunch, which is Why REED is Leaning Towards him @ the Moment...

Reed please,..care to pick apart Dirrell's resume?.. ...is there anyone in the top 50?.. Arabham has fought at middleweight, a weight division lower than supermiddleweight, and you're right, he's been through HELL down there, even claimed a few 'rather close' decisions,..nearly died in the ring against Miranda,..lol,.. we could sure all have fun picking apart his resume and performances.

Dirrell is a standout talent against,..thorough shit competition ofcourse, there have been many, many occasions, where prospects have looked like monsters, Joel Julio for example,.. "Best prospect ever!!!,..this guy fights like a fucking animal!!!" ....------ never to be seen again. Kessler is the rightful favourite for the tourniment at this point,..and infact, out of all participants,.. Dirrell has the worst resume going into this, so it's no suprise he's 'looked good'. Trying to bring Kessler down in the fashion that you are, by pissing on his resume, is powered by an underlying hatred (for whatever reason), rather than based on the facts heading into the tourniment.

Personally though, although it is just a hunch, as that's all it could possibly be at this stage in Dirrell's career, I do believe he will go well, and will join Kessler in the finals.

Based on the fact that he's beaten the best opposition at 168, and is overall the most complete fighter of the 6.

C'mon REED.... dont let your dislike of Kessler blind you. If you think he wont win the tourney, thats cool. But who else would be the favorite going in?

Stylewise... I think the only one who can beat Kessler is Dirrell... IF Andre can put his talent together, and stop making fundamental mistakes.

Dirrell is the most physically talent of the 6... I think we can all agree with that. But he has yet to be tested, and theres still questions about his chin. I'll reserve my opinion until after the Froch fight... because its far from a lock that Dirrell will even get by Froch. Froch is technically the worst of the 6... but he he's strong, tough, has plenty of heart, and can crack. If Dirrell can beat him impressively... than I might change my pick to Andre to win it all. But at the moment I'm favoring Kess.

BTW - whoever wins the tourney will hopefully face Dawson. That would be a true superfight.

So far it looks like I'm gonna be the only one picking Ward to win the whole thing.. If he doesn't get knocked out by anyone there's not a person in this Tournament I see winning a decision over him.

There's NATHAN about Dirrell's Resume to "Pick Apart"...Aside from the Fact that he Disposed of Hanshaw More Impressively than Roy Jones Did, there's NATHAN There to Brag About...But for What it's Worth, Hanshaw is Probably THE BEST Guy Dirrell's Faced AND his BEST Performance...

As U've JUST Said, REED is Leaning Towards Dirrell as a HUNCH More than Anything TANGIBLE...Him and Abraham have More Positive INTANGIBLES than Anybody Else in the Tournament...Kessler is BASIC, Almost to a FAULT...Dirrell ISN'T on Calzaghe's Level, but he has CalzaghESQUE Talent...

Like REED Said, EVERY Fighter in the Tournament Can B Presented in a NEGATIVE Light (Particularly YOUR Favorite Country Bumpkin:stir:)...

What REED Dislikes about Kessler is How he was Automatically ANNOINTED as "The Man" 1nce Calzaghe Left...It's NATHAN Personal, but REED just ISN'T a Believer in him Yet....If Kessler Comes Out of this Tourney On Top, Rest Assured REED will Give him his Props...

As Floyd would Say, Kessler is "Straight Up & Down, NO Special Effects"...

REED just Can't Look Past Ward's LACK of Power, JAY...Just Last Night, he Fought a SMALLER Guy that Even John Duddy KO'ed in the 1st Round...Yet that Same Guy went 3 w/Ward...

REED Doesn't Think Much of Kessler OR Ward, but he'll Favor Kessler in that Particular Bout...

But who else should go in as the favorite?

BTW - Kessler did look a bit rusty last night. Perhaps Ward's speed can trouble him.. but I still like Kessler to beat him.

Well, at least they didn't give us any illusions that these were any more the tune-up fights. My mind still boggles at how the guy Kessler fought got to be a #1 mandatory however? :notallthere:

I like Andre Ward a lot. Seems like a great kid, head on his shoulders, an action fighter who engages his opponent without a lot of clinching and holding. Unfortunately he reminds me a lot of Juan Diaz. Very active fighter who commits to his punches but can't crack an egg.

I'll be rooting for him. He's a solid, solid fighter but I think he may be a bit out of his element with the crop of fighters in this tournament. I hope I'm wrong. I think a lot depends on what kind of chin he has on whether or not he can just plain outwork the rest of the competition.

Dirrell is a spoiler. Ugly style but he can stink out some wins here and keep guys honest with his power.

I'd have to favor Kessler but I love this tournament no matter who wins. I hope everybody involved stays healthy enough to see this whole process through.
