U Named ONE Fight where Marquez Threw 80 Punches Per Round & NOT Coincidentally, that was Against a Guy w/the Defenseive Wherewithal of a SPONGE...HISTORICALLY, Marquez HASN'T Been an 80 Punch per Round Guy & Even You DON'T Expect to See him THAT Active vs. Floyd... Yeah, REED was @ the Fight, but N Most Cases, the People in Attendance AIN'T Privy to PunchStats... Keep Trying, HOT SAUCE... REED:mj:
There is merit to this post, it should not be dismissed outright. It is true that applying pressure tends to be more effective when the guy applying the pressure is bigger and stronger than his opponent. And I think Castillo did benefit from that to some extent in his fights with Floyd. But if that is a mitigating factor, then it should also be taken into consideration that JMM is a far more accurate puncher than JLC ever was. Marquez does not need to resort to Jesus Chavez style pressure against Floyd, because he will land at a much higher percentage than Chavez or Castillo could. Marquez simply needs to keep the fight busy, and constantly apply pressure enough to at least make Floyd feel it. Floyd does not deal well with pressure when it is even mildly effective. He is still a great fighter - but under effective pressure he tends to slow down, spend too much time on defense, and his punches are fewer and don't have much pop. That being said, it is very difficult to be even mildly effective against Floyd. Marquez has at least a decent chance because he has a combination of skills - accuracy, combinations, defense, good power, and excellent stamina. But that is frankly what it takes to have a chance to break Floyd down a bit. Although I think a KO win for JMM is unlikely - Floyd would be foolish to think Marquez can't hurt him. He can, and if he does I believe he will finish Floyd. If Floyd gets brave in there and starts thinking this is Jesus Chavez in front of him, he will hastily eat a slick counter punch. In the end, although I will be rooting hard for Marquez, I think Floyd probably takes this fight with a 7-5 or 8-4 type decision, and then proclaims himself better than Pac.
Perfect post. Honestly. And yes though I am rooting for Marquez and can see him winning thats exactly how I see it as well, and if he does lose it will be a close fight. Couldn't have said it better.
Haha, I agree but damn did it take 24-7 to make you feel that way?? Let's hope Marquez lands a big right on Floyd's little chin.
Nah I have been wanting to see Floyd go to sleep for a long time now even though I do appreciate his skill. Its his fucking attitude/personality that I cant stand!
He's actually been slightly less offensive in this series than in the previous ones. But I certainly agree with you.
In the one w/ Oscar he was throwing his money around and blustering about his wealth vs. someone who was/is richer than him...:kick: In the one w/ Hatton it was a lot of shit talking from both camps. Hatton stuff was funny while Mayweather jr was bullshit bullshit..uncle roger saved it.
Roger is a funny mother fucker though I admit! :bears::bears::bears: YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT BOXING-Roger Mayweather::
REED is Waiting for just ONE Person to Remind Roger of how SHITTY his Chin was...To Hear him Talk, U'd Think he was Ali & Ray Robinson Rolled into 1... REED:hammert:
His collage of past champions is brilliant....he has everyone take a look at it like he's an optician administrating an eye test. As long as you can remember to say Joe Louis, you'll pass with flying colours.
I wonder if Marquez already regrets drinking urine on tv. I know to him that is the least disgusting thing he drinks. Usually, it is creme de asian boys from the tap. Thank god he didn't offer to show us that. No Money is a joke, an idiot and he will end up broke for sure and probably dead before he is 45. Still, Marquez is one disgusting motherfucker. He also had the worst and most delusion fans in boxing today like Maxine Kellerman. I hope Floyd knocks the piss out of him, no pun intended.
BTW http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_y...ug=ki-boxingmailbag091409&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Nice article. I for one am sick of people mixing up entertainment and the real personality of sports figures. Good for Floyd. He deserves a pat on the back and some good old-fashioned respect. Darrell Simon San Francisco Thanks, Darrell. The character he puts on irritates many, many people. But I’ve covered him back to his amateur days and, while he’s said and done things I don’t agree with, I’ve always seen a different side of Floyd.
Why did dsimon run away from fightbeat, like a scared bitch, a scared white pussy? He wouldn't last 5 minutes in our world.
My guess is the obnoxious PBF we see on 24/7 is the "real" PBF, and the polite one is the guy Arum teached him how to be. Also, to say PBF is complex is simply a sports-writer kissing PBF's ass in the hopes of advancing his career.
Nah, it's the Other Way Around... Most of the People that have Personally Interacted w/Floyd Say he's Actually a COOL Dude 1-on-1...He was COOL when REED Met him...Others have Met him in Bars & Clubs & Said the Same Thing... REED:hammert:
Even if true, and I'd guess you are right, Floyd has chosen to act the way he acts for a long time. If people start believing it, he only has himself to blame. I would guess that the 'real' Floyd would have been just as successful financially, but I could be wrong. Floyd isn't just sorta rich, he's philthy rich. His persona cannot be discounted as a major reason for his wealth.
I doubt he's as rich as you think. Does he seem like the type of guy who would make good decisions with his money?
It doesn't matter. Floyd could lose his next three fights and still retire off of only their earnings.
What do you mean, "retire?" If by "retire" you mean PBF finds himself in a position of feeling prepared financially for the rest of his life, then I agree. However, if by "retire," you mean he'll actually have enough money to live the rest of his life, then I disagree. I think no matter what he'll end up broke. And in that sense, he will never be able to, "retire off of," his earnings.
It really annoys me that Floyd always brags about being undefeated. He lost to Jose Luis Castillo. I should think that alone should humble him.
NO, he DIDN'T...Is Yet ANOTHER Round by Round Debate in Order???:dunno:...Castillo Fought VERY WELL & Admittedly FINISHED STRONGER, but he LOST a CLOSE Decision...BEST Case Scenario for Castillo was a DRAW, which REED WOULDN'T have Argued w/Necessarily... REED:shit:
He sure was,.. Castillo was the aggressor, he threw more, landed more, and landed the most damaging punches throughout the fight aswell, Harold Lederman's scorecard was accurate, Castillo was gyped for the house-fighter. It's quite simple really, reverse the roles and have Fraud flying forwards grinding away at a rapidly backpeddling, backtwisting, hyper elbowing Castillo, and rendering him a cowering shell after 10 rounds and there is no fucken way in the world Castillo gets the decision,..and there's no way in the world Fraud groupies would support Castillo's case either ::.
There is no way on earth I will ever watch that fight again. I saw it live, scored it and Floyd clearly lost. I scored it again years later to see if my opinion had changed and it hadn't. Floyd clearly, clearly lost. I really don't wish to debate the matter. Castillo is/was awful to watch, well just awful. I can't stand him. I would love to clown him for not being able to beat a PBF with literally two injured hands. Unfortunately, I am very unbiased when I score fights. Floyd lost. He had a legit excuse, he had 2 damaged arms. He still lost. He won the rematch and he avenged it in an equally awful fight. Agree to disagree. As for me, it wasn't that close. Floyd obviously lost.
Exactly. I wonder aloud. If I were fighting or training someone to beat Floyd, I would train for hitting his kidneys. With his questionably legal defense, I am not sure it would be illegal to crack his back. I would train my fighter to pop his kidneys like balloons. If I guy turns his back to you, you can hit him. It isn't sporting, but as you mentioned neither is Floyd. I would tell him to hit his back as hard as they could until a point is taken, maybe even two points before stopping. I doubt Floyd would turn his back after a few kidney shots.
