In hindsite I don't think Floyd ever planned on making 144...I think he thinks he's like Oscar and people should be glad to be fighting him at any weight.

You can only boil that large rangey muscular frame of Fraud's down for so long, a good 6ft give and take. If it wasn't for Hopkins brilliant innovation to capitalise on general groupies fondness of mythical p4p lists which subsequently dawned the new era of 'catch-weights' "the future of boxing" deemed by some respectable american scribes then, Fraud, would have to fight opponents closer to his size.

 

Mayweather is an asshole....but if he struggle to make it to 146 then the fight might get interesting if it goes rounds.....but i think Mayweather didn't even try to 144...he probably said..ohhh 600K that ain't shit....cause he is stupid like that...

It's mostly speculation trying to figure out exactly how or why this happened, since the "story" is now that the contract was oh so subtly changed at the last moment to reflect the "new" not-so-catchweight, which of course really only helps out one fighter, doesn't it? Why in the world would JMM ever initial (knowingly) a change to an ALREADY signed contract which allows his opponent to take a few extra "free" pounds that Marquez himself doesn't even need?

Unless significant $$$$ passed JMM's way, this is nonsense and inexplicable.

However, to the larger point - is Floyd pure evil? I mean, doesn't the guy have a good bone in his body? He handpicks smaller opponents and negotiates catchweights beneficial entirely to himself, then fights "safety-first" the whole damn fight, barely decisioning even washed up knick-knacks like ODLH.

He constantly spouts his mouth off about how great he is, yet apparently will never take on any serious contenders/champions in the divisions he campaigns at. He spews his bile about how he's "money" Mayweather, and how his "shit is paid for" when actually he's damn near out of money and basically has borrowed for everything he has from house to car to god knows what, and worse yet he doesn't even make the damn loan payments on the shit he has. He beats up on his girlfriends, constantly hangs around with a posse of degenrates to stroke his ego, and despite all his "money" he consistently makes outrageous racist statements about how he is held back and treated like a slave by the white man's system.

Now to make it all worse, he can't even make one of his own contrived catchweights, and so basically says fuck the weight and comes in heavy, now citing some bizarre unknown contract allowance. Oh and by the way, just because he can barely make 146 doesn't mean he will every actually fight anyone top 10 at WELTER. No, no, he needs a catchweight for that. Or better said, his opponent needs a catchweight for that, he comes in wherever he wants.

If Mayweather's "please hate me, I'm the world's biggest asshole" routine is just an act - then bravo, Floyd, you are worthy of awards. Because the asshole role just FITS you. But if as I believe, it all comes quite naturally, then here's to hoping one of those smaller, overmatched opponents knocks him brutally unconscious. People of all religions should unite in a common prayer, someone's got to listen, even Chinus Maximus is worth a shot.

There are large weight discrepencies in fights all the time. Some guys put on a lot more weight than others by fight time.

It's really a non-issue at this point.

The real issues are Mayweather's been off a long time, while Marquez has been active and is fighting at or near his best. This fight was postponed because Mayweather injured himself training. Now Floyd can't make weight. Punching pads on 24/7 doesn't mean he's looked good in sparring or his timing is right.

People have always assumed Mayweather will come back exactly as he was when he left. But he's arguably never fought anyone as good as Marquez is right now in his entire career, and Floyd probably won't be at his best.

I just think Juan Manuel has taken this fight with Floyd at just the right time.

Max K said that Floyd agreed to pay $600,000 and never attempted to make weight for a competitive advantage. He also brought up that Marquez has better conditioning then many of Floyds recent oppoents.

 

I don't think this means anything.. Floyd and crew prolly did not want to drain him.. he is ALWAYS in shape and looks to be as usual
