Round By Round: Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Marquez

It amazes me how self-proclaimed boxing fans find fault in a 12 round boxing clinic by Mayweather.

The goal is to hit and not get hit. Can he do it any better? Why go for the knock out late and risk anything?

Word. The match was a mismatch to begin with, but Floyd's performance was pretty much perfect

For one because Floyd once again lied and said that he would take more chances. Also boxing may be hit and not get hit but there comes a point where you need to take chances. When it's fairly obvious you're opponent has pretty much suffered twice the damage you have AND he can't hurt you then fucking take him out. Why not put a cherry on top of your performance by getting a KO?

Believe it or not a highlight reel KO of JMM not only could have made a difference in Floyd's next fight negotiations but also in his future PPV sales too. Instead though Floyd continued to play it safe and come out of the fight fresh as a daisy. This is why I'm wondering how he'll react after the first Mosley hard punch hits him after years of never feeling pain in the ring.

Yeah sure you won't. Everybody said the same thing after the Baldomir fight. Next fight Floyd does 2.4 mill homes.

Exactly. If Floyd fights Pac or Mosley, he'll buy. ESPECIALLY if Pac KO's Cotto... you'd be retarded not to order Mayweather-Pac.

I wouldn't. Just like last night I'll go to a bar and watch but I don't care if it's Mayweather-Mosley, I'll never pay 50 bucks to watch a fight again. Never.

You know what. That was some Kanye West type shit. SSM in my eyes made himself look desperate and in the like President Obama said he's an ass. That's not SSM's MO. That was some B-Hop shit. What Shane and Golden Boy need to do is throw hella money at PBF cause money talks and bullshit walks. Yeah it was good for TV but you know what that proves that Shane needs PBF more then what PBF needs him. That was so disrespectful it wasn't even funny. I'll Holla 5000

    Agree with BigDawg...

That was very uncharacteristic of Mosley and just makes him look desperate. Very bad move IMO.

If they want Mayweather, throw a bunch of money out there and make him an offer he can't refuse.

Schafer and Oscar run GPB and HBO wants Floyd to fight the winner of Pac-Cotto. They will throw alot more money at Floyd for that fight than a fight with Shane.

Mosley's often in the ring after Golden Boy fights...and Kellerman brought his name up and after he did Mayweather waved him in.

Marquez lost because of the urine drinking.

Since when does Fraud deserve any fucking respect? Shane wouldn't do that to anyone who isnt an outrageous piece of shit, he did everybody a favour, it was a ray of sunshine, Shane slapped Fraud's own cock out of his mouth, then baby cried for bottle.

Props to Shane for saving us the time to listening to Floyds bullshit and lies

Easy fight to predict, yet its still a privaledge to watch someone as good as Floyd go to work. He beat the shit out of Marquez.

Bigger man or not, he did what he had to do and made Juan look nothing close to one of the best fighters in the world...yet thats what happens to Mayweather opponents fight in, fight out. He makes the best look like something less than.

Whatever. It was against a featherweight. Did you see how "afraid" PBF is of Mosley? It's hilarious.

and after 2 years out of the ring.:bears: I was rooting for PBF to get KTFO but he was masterful and his win should be appreciated.

PBF should be embarrassed after that fight. And he obviously was given his defensiveness towards Max's questions.

Sure looked like he was fighting a welterweight to me.

Well, maybe Judah...he was only a pound lighter than Supa was for Clottey.

Marquez is moving down in weight...either to get paid against Hatton at 140 or lower. Of course, it's only a two pound drop to junior lightweight.

Hatton-Marquez is probably the only winnable big money fight for both guys. We'll likely see that one next. Or HBO might do one of those double headers with Hatton and Marquez fighting tune-up opponents.

I wonder if either one want to go through tune-ups at this point.

They might both retire after that fight.

Marquez and Pacquiao will fight each other again a third time....after Cotto ko's Pacquiao...

If i was Marquez i would definitely take a Hatton fight next..if it's availabl....very winnable fight...Pacquiao will still be there in mid-late 2010...

Well it's unlikely Hatton would want to, but it's easier to sell a fight after a guy is coming off a win.

I can see a double header with Hatton fighting in Manchester and a "comeback" matchup for Marquez to set it all up.

You can't say that. I know that you know a LOT about boxing history, and have seen a lot of fights.

You also know that great fighters can be surprisingly ineffective moving up one weight class, let alone 2, and let alone 3 or 4 divisions above your natural weight.

Oh and Floyd hardly made Oscar and Hatton look like shit, both those performances were unimpressive too. Pacman literally made them both look like punching bags, Floyd didn't.

Also, Floyd didn't beat the shit out of Marquez, or even come close to it. He outboxed the little man sure, but never mounted any sustained attack or hurt Marquez enough to say he "beat the shit out of him".
