Ok let's discuss who has the best chance beating PBF. I feel he's levels above anyone else. Unless someone get's lucky, I see PBF retiring undefeated.
Cory Spinks would but he has actually changed his division which Floyd seemingly can't do. So I say Mosley
Mosley probably has by far the least chance of any of the top guys, that would be a mismatch. I'd rate their chances like follows 1) Pac 2) Clottey 3) Margirito 4) Cotto 5) Shane
I think Mosley definitely has a better shot than Margarito. Margarito is so slow and so easy to read that Floyd would outbox him with ease. Shane at least still has the quick right hand and killer instinct to make Floyd alert, even though he wouldn't probably win either
I'm very surprised how many of you are choosing Pacman. I think PBF will bewilder him and stop him within 8 rounds. He's too small and PBF is levels above him.
As I've said before I really don't think Shane can fight effectively against guys who make him lead, I think Floyd's a stylistic disaster for him. Margirito's combination of height, strength, chin and relentlessness MIGHT cause Floyd some problems. Floyd certainly doesn't have the kind of pop Mosley had to keep Tony honest, although obviously I'd still make him a big favourite. Pac's footspeed almost certainly will cause Floyd some genuine problems.
We don't know. And it's not that we just don't know. We have very little to base our assessment on because PBF has yet to face a real threat at 147. I do think PBF's obvious fear of Mosley is telling. Mosley is promoted by G, the same as JMM, so there's no reason the fight can't be made. On the other hand, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and Pacquiao are all promoted by Arum, making any of those fights less realistic and giving PBF an excuse not to make the fights.
I feel the same, but I don't think he could make 147 anymore. where he is now: 160 or something? MTF :dunno:
I think the winner of Pac V Cotto will have the best chance against PBF. I'd love to see Shane in the same ring as floyd and Sugar Shane did look awesome. In saying that I still think Mosleys best days are behind him. I have this funny feeling PBF's next opponent will be Andre Berto.:shit:
I am sure he wouldn't pass up the opportunity if it came about....But it never will. He's far from flavour of the month right now, and if you are Mayweather, you don't go looking for that fight.
Mayweather-Berto would be about as entertaining a fight as PBF can be in at 147. Berto's chin is always on a platter, but at least he has handspeed and punches in combination, something not a whole lot of guys on this list do that great a job of. Mayweather doesn't like to punch with as much as punch after, and it's easier to do that with one and two punch at a time fighters. Berto would give Mayweather plenty of opportunities to hit him, but Mayweather would actually have to do that...and not be as passive as some guys allow Mayweather to be...he looked like Hopkins in there against Marquez. I wouldn't have much of a problem with him having that as his first real fight back.
Paul Williams has THE BEST Chance, but he's Not Listed...Of the Available Options, REED Would Go w/Sugar Shane...He's MUCH Stronger than Floyd, has just Enough SPEED Leftover to TROUBLE Floyd, has a Good Enough CHIN Where Floyd WON'T Hurt him @ All & the POWER to HURT Floyd if he can Track him Down... Hate to Admit it, but Floyd REACTED like a Guy that ISN'T 100% CONFIDENT in his Chances of Beating Sugar Shane, During their Altercation... REED:hammert:
I don't think you can read that much into it. You could look at how Lennox was during altercations with Rahman and Tyson before their respective bouts, and he clinically smashed them both to pieces. Floyd was just a bit flustered, i think he was pissed off but wasn't quite sure how to show it. Floyd's been out of the game, he loves the spotlight...he's probably been dreaming of the post fight interview for the last two years, and Shane, Bernard and Max ruined it all for him.
I don't especially either but I think his style MIGHT be problematic in a way I definitely don't expect Cotto or Mosley's to be.:dunno:
To Lennox's Credit, he Actually SHOWED Some "Fight" in his Altercations w/Tyson & Rahman...Lennox SWUNG on Tyson & Actually ENGAGED Rahman B 4 Getting the Worst of It as they Fell on the Table... If U're CONFIDENT that U Can Beat a Guy & He's Trying to STEAL Your Moment, U're Gonna REMIND him that he CAN'T Beat U OR that U've TRIED to Fight him in the Past...ALL Floyd Did was Say "U're Disrespecting Me", Over & Over...He DIDN'T Show ANY Inclination to "Fight" or Aggressively DEFEND Himself...His SOLE Purpose was to DIFFUSE the Situation & Get Shane the Hell AWAY from him... Floyd's ALL about Perception...Whether REAL or Not, the PERCEPTION is, Sugar Shane PUNKED Floyd Out Saturday Night... REED:mj:
The thing with the Rahman confrontation is it didn't even look like Lewis was even taking it seriously to start with...hell, it looked choreographed when they both stood up. Rahman got a hold of him and he's the stronger guy, that's to his advantage, but when Lewis got up Rahman was running the other way. And on fight night, Rahman looked like the scared one...from his bs'ing outside Lewis' door to his ring walk to the way he fought. I bet Floyd was more scared of Hopkins than Mosley...and it's one thing when boxers confront each other with gloves off, and another when they're on.
I voted other. That other being Paul Williams. I think just might have the right combination of size and work rate. Naturally it's easy to dismiss his chances based upon the Quintana fight but i think that's simplifying things. I like Pacquiao's chances slightly more than Shane's, but i can see the argument on both sides.
Agreed! Although I chose Miguel Cotto I have no problem with this choice. Shane also has a good trainer in his corner to devise the game plan to defeat PBF.
I rated the guys with the best chance in order. I see the fights happening this way against PBF: 1.) Mosley - On paper the edge should go to Floyd by way of his boxing style and only needing a job to disrupt Shane. However, intangibles like Shane's size, strength, and durability will be huge factors for Floyd to overcome. There will be moments where he is flat out running from Shane. Depending on how much Shane ages from now to then I think his intangibles gives him the best chance to beat Floyd. 2.) Pac - Pacquiao's speed of foot and hand is his only true asset here. Although I think he'll have his moments I don't think it'll be enough. Pac is just not the thinker that Floyd is and I see Floyd figuring Pac out and being able to withstand Pac's power due to probably reusing his trick of not making the contracted catch weight. I think Pac has a slight chance of winning by forcing the issue and not letting Floyd fight at his own pace but I think it's much less of a chance than Shane has. 3.) Cotto - The guy I give almost no chance to beat Floyd. He's too slow of foot and hand which will make it easy for Floyd to dodge and counter his offense. Plus Cotto is a boxer, but so is Floyd. In no category is Cotto better than Floyd other than strength, durability, and having boxing fans, none of which will help Cotto beat Floyd. Cotto's only chance is a 1 hitta quitta that happens to land and KO or severly damage Floyd. 4.) Other (Clottey, Berto, P-Will) - Other than Berto I don't think Floyd would fight any of these guys so the point is moot. It's smart too because Berto is the only one I think Floyd could beat. P-Will and Clottey are too big and strong and we saw how size can factor with Floyd as ODLH nearly beat him as did Castillo.
2 things,.. 1) The opponent to defeat Fraud,.. is the opponent who trains intensely and purely for that illegal shoulder roll shit,... the head of the shoulder roller will never be hit in the upright conventional stance,.. you've got to time stepping to the side and swinging an uppercut in a flash, or timing the right hand down to smack the back of the head,... 2) If for once, if by some fucking miracle the rules of boxing are enforced,....... and the referee gives Fraud a final warning on turning, or for his elbow,.. then all good unrelenting pressure fighters have a huge chance to seize the bitch up,..
cotto, but not sure how much the guy has left and even at his best, i'd still pick floyd. i can't see either mosley or pac being competitive.
