[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly “The Ghostâ€￾ Pavlik and two-division world champion Paul “The Punisherâ€￾ Williams, along with their respective promoters, Todd duBoef and Dan Goossen, will host a news conference on Tuesday officially announcing their world middleweight title fight. Pavlik-Williams will take place December 5 at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, and will be broadcast live on HBO. Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs), from Youngstown, Ohio, who has been middleweight champion for nearly two years, will be making his third title defense. This is an Official CROSSROADS Fights for Kelly Pavlik...His Career has Went to Complete SHIT Since the Debacle w/Bernard Hopkins 11 Months Ago & Now he's Either Gonna REGROUP & REassume his Role Amongst Boxing's Upper Echelon Fighters OR he's just Gonna B a "Guy"...

    1 Thing's for Sure, this'll B an EXCELLENT Fight...

The timing of this fight is pretty interesting. Pavlik's done a little of nothing since that Hopkins loss and Williams hasn't done much more, just going through the motions with a retired fighter.

Both have been on the shelf for much of the year...and as such, the fight probably won't have near the interest level it might've had under other cicumstances.

I'm not sure what to expect from Pavlik in this one.

REED would Say Williams has Done MUCH More than Pavlik Has in the Last Year...He's @ Least Dipped his Toe in the Middleweight Pond AND he's Beaten Verno Phillips and Winky Wright IMPRESSIVELY...

Pavlik will B THE STERNEST Test of Williams' Career...This Fight will Either REINVIGORATE Pavlik's Career OR FIRMLY Plant Williams on Lb for Lb Lists...HUGE Fight for Both...

They were solid wins against smaller veterans nearing 40.

Certainly agree with the hugeness of the fight. This fight's for HBO 'poster-boy' privileges.

I think this fight depends on how well Williiams can handle the punch because Tall Paul does get hit alot.

Who do you like in this one, REED??.

I slightly favor Williams via decision but I can't say for sure yet.

I don't know that the fight completely depends on how well Williams can take Pavlik's punch.

If he can take his punch, but still gets hit cleanly with enough of what should be the clearly harder punches, he could lose points/rounds.

Pavlik has to do his part to make up for what is usually a standard gap in punches thrown vs. the Tall One.

Are people only giving Pavlik a puncher's chance? That is crazy. Pavlik has not been outpointed by anyone like Quintana.

    That is all.

And Pavlik's style is like Quintana's HOW exactly? Pavlik is a basic one-two fighter. His power is legit, but if Paul's chin can take it... we'll win. He'll be too quick, and hit from two many angles for the ponderous Ghost to handle.

I'm just saying, it's not like there is no way Williams can be out pointed in this fight. I'm not comparing styles.

REED is LEANING Towards Williams and his Superior HANDSPEED, but the Fact is, he's Going to GIVE Pavlik PLENTY of Opportunities to HIT him...Williams has Shown a GREAT Chin, but Pavlik will B the BEST BANGER he's Ever Faced By Faaaaaaaaaaar...

Like U've Said, Williams' CHIN will B the Deciding Factor...If he TAKES Pavlik's Shots Well, he'll OUTPOINT Pavlik Fairly Decisively (8-4 Type of Decision), but if NOT, Pavlik STOPS him in the Latter Half of the Fight (8th Round or So)...

Again, REED is Leaning Towards Williams by UD Though...He'll BEAT Pavlik to the Punch & OUTLAND Him Over the Course of the Fight...

Quintana was a QUICKER, More MOBILE Guy than Pavlik Though...AND a SOUTHPAW....

Blah blah blah, I'm not comparing styles. It just seems people think it's impossible for Williams to lose a decision. I'm just pointing out the fact that it's happened already.

  17. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Margarito was none of those things - well, maybe more mobile than Pavlik - and he won 4-5 rounds on the judges cards...even more on some of those scoring from press row and at home.

Not saying he and Pavlik are completely alike, in terms of styles, work-rates, power, etc.

    Just pointing it out.

And Margarito LOST a Decision to Williams...

    And?

Margarito didn't need to be a quicker...or a southpaw...to have the fight on the table entering the last round against Williams.

Didn't even need him on the deck to do that...or have him even close to it.

Margarito, Matthysse, Mitchell, Wright, Quintana...righties, lefties....everybody lands cleanly on Williams' jaw.

That was Also Williams' 1st Title Fight AND 1st Time he Went the FULL 12 ...He's ALOT More SEASONED & MATURE than he was Then...Williams Still WOULDN'T KO Margarito or Anything, but he'd Beat him ALOT More Decisively than he did 2 Years Ago...

Kelly Pavlik WILL NOT B Fighting the Same Paul Williams that Margarito Faced in 2007...

It's also the last time he's been in with someone with any ability to stop an opponent...although who knows what, if anything, he had in his gloves that night.

I don't think he's that far removed from the guy who got touched up against Matthysse and Margarito.

Pavlik's still on the right side of 30, he's a natural middleweight, and he's a puncher.

I'm interested to see what Williams does against him.

  22. ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

Pavlik by TKO 10 ...Williams will be successful early...Williams is use to being the taller and usually the stronger guy, but Pavlik will start imposing his punching power and strength in the mid rounds....and that will be the end...

Is it just a coincidence that REED always picks the black dude? Just an observation.

I agree with the consensus,.. if Williams can handle the heavy hands of the pink, peckerwood, honkey, cracker, rednecked, cross burning, sheet-headed nazi motherfucker, then the white-boy can consider himself deservedly EXPOOOOOOSED,..

    ....again!!!!..

Hopefully Aerola can help do something about one of those 'hitler sisters' on the weekend, that'd be a good start.

I said it before, but it's crazy when Williams was first mentioned we all thought it was a mismatch, and that Pavlik sucked for fighting a welterweight etc.

One humiliating loss later, and almost everyone is picking Williams

With fair reason though. Pavlik looked complete shit against Nard, and Williams is far more a natural middleweight than welterweight. I don't know how he even made 147.

Despite his appearance, Tall Paul appears to take a good shot, but Pavlik is going to hit him harder than anyone else has, and it's not like Paul has excellent defense.

The decider of the fight should be simple. If Paul can take Pavlik's shots he should win, decisively, if not, he gets KO'd

Could go either way, I lean towards Tall Paul though.
