Jones has nothing to gain from this fight and should not take it.

    Jones?

In addition to one of the biggest paydays he can get, it's his chance to beat a top fighter, which he hasn't done since 2003.

It's weird because I am actually looking forward to this rematch.

I know both are past their primes and the winner wont' really settle anything as far as who is the best.

The past few years I lost interest in this rematch since it seemed like it would never happen. But for some reason I really want to see it now. :crafty:

Some good advice for Roy, dont 'follow' the strict counter-punching bitch around the ring,.. whenever Hopkins starts to back up and sprint around the perimeter,.. stay in the centre, and dont follow Hopkins into the constant cycles of timing range he creates for himself, if Roy fights smart, he'll expose the so called 'boxing master'.. who will be reduced to a panicking hyperactivity of feints, and a nervous lead right pot with his chin pressed against his chest for the subsequent headbutt. Hopkins also likes to perform the illegal back and brainstem fold,..Roy should take a page out of Jermaine's book,.. and time Hopkins head resting below his belt level.

Roy still has some of those old moves - If he can fight his own fights he whoops Hopkins. Bernard is the master of dragging a guy down to his level.

    Interesting fight (8 years ago)

Hopkins wins this fight easily. Roy has been shot for years. Hopkins is not.

Im a bit undecided on this one but I definitely feel that Hopkins will always have trouble with quick handed, athletic fighters in the mold of a Jones or a Calzaghe.

Hopkins will be the favorite, but this is an even fight and it should not be considered an upset if Roy wins.

It's quite wrong to say this would not be an upset if Roy wins. Roy has won against sub par opposition lately and lost every time he stepped it up.

Bernard on the other hand is still considered one of the best boxers in the sport. Amazing considering his age.

Roy wins and it's a huge upset. Hops is only taking this fight because Jones is shot to hell. When they were both closer to their primes, he wanted no part of a rematch.

i believe it will happen, i don't want it to, but both guys have an over-inflated sense of where they stand in boxing TODAY, which prices them out of fights with some of the top fighters in and around their weight class.

As for the fight....it will be a chess match, like their first, but this time i think Hopkins wins. Jones isn't so hard to hit these days...but i imagine it will be pretty close....Hopkins will be very wary of Jones' counters.

I agree. Hopkins will stop Roy. At this point Bernard is the fresher fighter with less beatings. I'll hate to see Snaggles ugly smile at the end of the bout enjoying his revenge, but IMO he will give Roy a worst beating than Calzaghe did.

Given where they're at in their careers, and where they've been at, I've just felt this was damn near inevitable for a long time.

I can't find myself being overly critical of this match-up.

They're both past it, and so in that sense, if they're going to keep fighting I think it makes more sense than some of the other fights they've had and/or have been talked about having.

It's a bit of a seniors tour fight...but everybody knows that going in.

You only take an intermittent accumulation of pots and headbutts off Hopkins if you blindly follow him around the perimeter,... Roy isn't going to pressure him,.. Roy's gunna make him come forwards ..and when he does,..Roy's speed will render Hopkins to either roll out of the ring during a ref break-up, claiming injury, or fall down to a knee claiming a low blow,.. I realise he has all sorts of 'masterful' tricks up his handwraps, but we'll wait and see what else he can come up with.

    What makes you think that?

I envision twelve rounds with very few punches thrown.

The two may never leave their corners...waiting on the other to do it first.

Well... you know,...Jermaine forced him to in utter desperation,..I guess Roy could use one double jab per round and then retreat,.. good fight either way.
