He tried really hard. I have respect for him. The outcome was never in doubt before and during the match. I actually thought it would go 6 rounds less.

Just watched the torrent. I cant believe Im saying this, but I thought it was a great fight. I'll be damned if Arreola didn't keep properly trying against all my expectations. He might have had tits but he didn't fight like a fat guy.

Easy fight to predict. The only surprise was Areola lasting as long as he did.

He showed some heart/guts, certainly a better showing than Tua against Lewis.

He could have tried harder and taken more risks, but easier said than done I guess against someone like Vitali.

He seems to have a solid enough chin too. Vitali wasn't putting everything into his shots, but some of those right hands had some meat on them, and Areola took them fine.

I give Areola credit for the funniest post fight interview I've seen in a while

We have heard of fighters fighting tall but you imply Arreola fought thin?

    I can't believe you're saying it either.

That sound you hear is standards being lowered.

C'mon. Great fight?? Really??? Arreola was entirely outclassed. It looked like he was trying, but he didn't win a round.

for what it's worth, Arreola is better than I gave him credit for. He certainly has more heart and a better chin than I gave him credit for.

I think Arreola would beat Haye.

I think this fight pretty much proved that Arreola doesn't "blow". Fat as he is, his stamina was NOT an issue in this fight.. the biggest issue was Klitchko's height, reach, workrate and constant backpedalling. Not to take anything away from Vitali he fought pretty much a perfect fight for this type of opponent.. but Arreola fared way better than any of Vitalis opponents over the past several years. He didn't stop trying at any point, continued to pressure Vitali throughout the fight, landed SOME descent shots.. and despite the one sided beating, even with the stoppage it wasn't completely out of the realm of possiblity that he COULD have caught Vitali with something big in the last couple rounds, something you COULDN'T say for Sanders or Peter.

Averaging something like 10 of 30 punches a round proved he doesn't blow?

If that's not judging a performance based on expectation, I'm not sure what is.

Most of the 'pressure' he applied was on Klitschko's lower body, meaning he was moving his feet in a forward-like direction.

He has Vitali retreating the entire fight. He had not quit by the end of the fight, so comparing performances of previous Vitali victims, he didn't do bad at all.

So you're saying the "Chris Arreola BLOWS" Bandwagon should be smaller than the 'Samuel Peter BLOWS' and 'Juan Carlos Gomez BLOWS' Bandwagons?

    Yes.

Correct, it proved he doesn't blow.

The performance, based on itself, was formidable. This isn't baseball, we (don't) judge based on statistics. Arreola looked pretty good against a guy that makes everyone else look horrible.

There's DEGREES of BLOWING...Blowing LESS than Peter or JC Gomez ISN'T Exactly a Compliment...Bottom Line, Chris Arreola BLOWS...

Arreola LOST Every Round, Dude...@ BEST, he "Won" a Small Handful of 30 Second SNIPPETS...His Face Got BUSTED UP & On the Flipside, Vitali (Who's a NOTORIOUS BLEEDER) Walked Away w/Out a Scratch On Him...

Arreola's BLUBBERY Ass was BEATEN UP & OUTCLASSED...If that's YOUR Idea of Looking "Pretty Good", REED Doesn't Know what Else to Say...

I can't remember the last time a fighter got so much credit for maybe winning a round and getting stopped in their corner.

Arreola was protected by Goossen until the opportunity for a payday arrived.

Now that it's happened, and lost as expected, it'd be nice if he actually accomplished something.

Peter was actually sub-240 for his fight a couple weeks ago...so he's at least preparing better since going with Top Rank...a match-up of the Nightmares might be a solid non-Klitschko heavyweight fight.

But declaring that a fighter, who has very few wins that'd even qualify as 'quality', doesn't blow after getting dominated is a bit curious.

haha, yeah true enough. I should say that by the standards of heavyweight fights in this decade it was 'great'. Literally the only qualification needed for that accolade being that both guys actually tried.

Wlad vs Peter was pretty good though.

Whatever. There's no evidence to suggest he blows other than your preference for fighters with sculpted physiques. Unfortunately, a fighter's physique should not be the judging criteria of a boxer. At least not that of a hetero-sexual fan who watches boxing because he likes the sport.

As I've said a gazillion times, there's never been and never will be a great fighter or even a fighter worth talking about or watching who was fat. To be great at anything you have to train properly. So the fact he has bitch tits IS relevant, it shows he isn't taking the sport seriously.

Exactly what great accomplishment did he have when he was fat?

Testing positive for the Ruiz fight?

    Drawing with Rahman?

Or was it losing twice to Peter?

Arreola's footwork was horrible...Vitali footwork is garbage but he had Arreola off balance w/ his punches most of the night...

Good chin...good work-rate...good heart...i think he beats many Heavyweights out there...actually i would not mind watchng him fight the other KLIT....

  28. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I'd rather see Vitali fight Chambers than Arreola fight Wlad.

Wlad wouldn't miss Arreola with his jab.

Arreola can fight Peter or Briggs if he's still around.

  29. ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

i rather watch Wlad vs. Arreola....Wlad is more athletic than his bro, but his stamina is not ass good, he is not as calm in the ring, and he will engage Arreola more.....

Look at that rush Arreola had in round 7,8, or 9 he was landing on Vitali and pushing him back...IMO if that had been Wladimir he would have not have come out for the next round sooo calmly as Vitaly did..and dominate..

  30. D MAN

    D MAN "Twinkle Toes" McJack

    First of all,

A fighters physique is not how I define "looking good"... clearly physical sculpt plays a large part in how 'receptive' you are to boxers. The fact is, Arreola clearly did NOT have problems with conditioning. He did not run out of gas, he simply couldn't get inside and sustain anything against the taller longer armed guy. Vitali was the one backing up the ENTIRE fight. Arreola landed clean blows in every round, arguably with increasing frequency throughout the fight.

He threw a good variety of punches, he caught Vitali with some shots, showed VERY GOOD conditioning for a guy his size. Yeah the division is weak, but Chris showed he is easily a top 5 fighter.. I just don't see how he blows, based on him putting out an effective effort against a guy that is arguably the best heavy of the decade.

Juan Manual Marquez got DOMINATED last weekend by a taller, longer armed, bigger and more skilled fighter. Does it mean Marquez blows ??
