Kimbo gave an interview recently that he will be fighting in December. That could mean he wins.

He's good with his hands, but not as good as any of the top 10 heavyweights even in this era.

Therefore he stands a better chance in MMA.

He's actually managed a few wins in MMA.

In a boxing ring, he wouldn't get past boxing's equivalent of James Thompson. Therefore he's actually better suited to MMA.

grappling is much more natural than most people think.

having said that, when its roy nelson on top of you, you are going nowhere.

the guy is a top of the line grappler who weighs a ton...the second he got kimbo down it was all over.

    "even" chris arreola?

chris arreola could be beaten by MAYBE 25-30 people on the planet in a boxing match, thousands could clobber kimbo.

But Kimbo isn't as good as any of the top 10 Heavyweights in MMA either.

There are tons of tomato cans out there that Kimbo can box and look good against with some training. He has a much better chance for success doing something that he somewhat knows how to do, throw punches, then he does something he has no idea how to do, wrestling and ground game.

I'm not saying Kimbo could be a great boxer or become champion, but he'd be a much better boxer then he is an MMA fighter.

Nah TFK. He'd get dominated by a proper pro boxer and he knows it.

I doubt Kimbo is so stupid that he doesn't realise that the average name heavyweight boxer makes more than the average name heavyweight MMA fighter.

Do you not think if he fancied his chances in boxing, he would have done that instead? Especially considering he's essentially an amateur boxer?

    It's true.

I actually consider myself quite good at grappling, and enjoy, but I have no training at all in it.

I can hold my own in wrestling/grappling though, uust by being naturally fast, strong, and slippery. I'm good at squirming out of holds etc.

BJJ on the other hand, I would imagine that doesn't come as naturally, and would just require a lot of training.

I exaggerated about Arreola. He is a legit top ten heavy.

Change the top 10 to top 20 ;)

If Kimbo fought every top 20 MMA heavyweight, and every top 20 heavyweight boxer, I think he would get more wins against the MMA guys.

Kimbo would get destroyed in boxing. He at least has a punchers chance against some MMA guys who suck at standing. In boxing by any top 50 heavyweight he would get beaten down because they would kick his ass standing. It's pretty easy to understand.

    Basically, yeah.

There is a reason why Kimbo chose MMA rather than boxing.

  22. TFK

And that reason is because MMA is a much hotter sport than boxing right now.

Hey, if you guys want to think Kimbo would do better at a sport he has no skills in than a sport he has some skills in, so be it. But I know better.

MMA is like the New Pretty Girl in School that NOBODY Knows about, Whereas Boxing is the PRETTIER Girl that's Been FUCKED a Few Times...B 4 Loooooooooong that "NEWness" Wears Off & Everyone will Realize She's NOT as Pretty as the Other...

MMA is "Hotter" Because it's NEWER...The CURIOSITY Factor...That'll Eventually WEAR OFF Though...Not Saying MMA's Going Anywhere, but it's Got a Looooooooooooooooong Way to Go to Even Approach Boxing's STORIED History & LITTANY of Great Fighters & Matchups...

UFC may have peaked IMO. The pay per view matchups already have gone to the dogs in comparison to the past few years. I know I'm saying this AFTER TUF got it's highest ratings. The only way they will probably top it is if Kimbo is in the live finale, but then what happens afterward? He gets into the house AGAIN?

Are you saying the UFC has peaked, or that TUF the show has peaked?:dunno: Because, IMO, I don't think Kimbo does anything for the UFC as a whole. I think the world jumped on Kimbo because of the whole "street fighter thug" persona that was portrayed. But the simple truth is now everyone knows he isn't anything to talk about in real MMA. The cats out of the bag per say. Of course, there will be some teeny-boppers who still think he's the man, but I think anyone can see that he isn't ever going to amount to shit in MMA. He will continue to get fights in the UFC or out of it, because we all like Kimbo and he is somewhat exciting. But he will never challenge for any significant title.

Now, the show TUF, may have peaked. They are searching for gimics to sell it now, rather than just the talent. I think one of the best things they could do is have an international show. Actually leave all Americans out of it for a season. Find up and comers from Holland, Thailand, Austrailia, etc. Guys that we don't know about and could actually make some waves.

they'll probably go USA VS CANADA or USA VS BRAZIL in the future. It will be USA vs. someone.

Actually it's because he knows he stands a better chance of beating MMA guys than boxers, boxers who fight like him but just much, much better, with far more skill and experience.

Seeing as you can make FAR more money in boxing than MMA, don't you think he would have chosen boxing if he fancied his chances?

First off, only the elite fighters make FAR more money in boxing. Odds are, Kimbo made more money main eventing on CBS than he ever would in boxing given his skill set.

But like I said, if you want to think Kimbo is better suited for MMA than boxing, feel free. You're wrong, but don't let me stop you from thinking that way.

Both. I'm saying both UFC as a whole (including TUF) has peaked.

Also, lets not forget that boxers lose a significant amount of their purses to trainers, managers, cornermen, etc. UFC fighters also get to get a fair amount of money from endorsements too.
