NO POSTING OF LIVE STREAMS

Please do not post live streams of PPV events. Top Rank is now denying us access to their events because of this practice. Therefore I request that nobody post links because it is hurting our ability to do our job.

Though I would hope Top Rank is sending the same ultimatum to every other public boxing forum on the internet and not singling out FightBeat.

 

There are definitely other sites that don't allow posting of links to illegal streams of PPV events.

 

So I guess this means that from now on we need a code word for the threads where we can post the links. Any suggestions what we could call them?

 

Just post the links in the smacktalk forum which is password protected.

You don't have to be a member to view the general discussion, so technically any staffer at Top Rank could browse the forum and see if there any links to streams.

If it would be in password protected forum in order to see it they would have to first register and then ask for the password. (to the protected area)

Isn't there a way to make a private forum for long-time users where that sort of thing could be posted? Unavailable to the general public and possibly even new users for some time?

I say this because often times streams are the only way to see fights that are not offered on (for example) American TV, and in the instance of PPV's all that is really being done is posting links that are already posted all over the place anyway. Fightbeat isn't streaming anything and are in no way, shape, or form enabling anybody to watch streams by distributing software, etc. And as far as I know, no FIghtbeat user is doing any streaming themselves...

It's like posting a link to a youtube video of some fight that happened the night before. The content may be illegal, I supposes, but I don't think Google is breaking the law by showing you a link to it.
