Hey guys, I'm still learning how to put articles up on the homepage, so feel free to heap scorn on me for now until I learn how to set it up perfectly with all the trimmings. Here's a look at the Super Six Tournament as seen by staff writer Aaron Jones: http://www.fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=22170 artie:
It's a start Buddy. Can we get that over into the "Featured article" frame? Also, are we getting paid for the Bing.com pop-ups in the articles? Can we ax that feature out if not? A larger font would be good to. :hammert:
the command to use a larger font is <font size="3"> in the HTML button in the control panel Nice work without any help Buddy. You've got skills kid Cupey
Now I just need to figure out how to get it over to the Featured Articles area. Little help, please Cupey! I know you're busy, but whenever you get time, I'd like to learn it ASAP.
BTW, this is just baby steps for now. As soon as I'm used to the controls, I'll be able to do this quickly and easily on a regular basis. So Fightbeat writers, time to dust off or degunk those keyboards! ::
What's Really Needed is Some Sort of "New & Improved" Banner on the Homepage, Letting REEDers Know that Things have CHANGED & They Should EXPECT Frequent Updates & Articles.... REED:hammert:
If we're gonna actually be updating the home page with new material, I'd be happy to submit a weekly (or close to it) MMA opinion piece. I won't be 'breaking news' as much as just giving my thoughts on different MMA happenings. Just let me know if you want it and who to PM it to. Hopefully this site becomes aggresive in covering MMA as well as boxing. I know there are some here that are totally against that, but for the overall health of the site, it's the way to go. TFK
Thanks Buddy, hope you get those controls down to get that over to the featured section:cheer: I know I'm not a partner with you guys financially but I think some kind of content brainstorming meeting would be good, and I'm sure a few of the writers would want to chime in with their two cents, and see that we can develop some kind of working structure.
Via PM, REED's Already Suggested a Meeting of the "Writing" Minds so to Speak...A TEAM Needs to B Assembled & a Boxing Calendar Needs to B ADHERED To...For this to Work, No Fewer than 4 or 5 CONSISTENT Contributors will B Needed & Guys CAN'T Just Write about Fighters & Fights that they LIKE... & if we Can Actually Figure Out how to POST Articles on the Homepage, that WOULDN'T Hurt Either... whiskey, no. Everyone including whiskey: I apologize. I asked for a piece from MeetTheFeebles and he sent it. Unfortunately it went to a different email account and I missed it. I've been home most of the day and I had my blackberry on, but my blackberry is set to my RDavidLeeder@gmail.com account. It didn't go to that account. I should have checked all my email accounts, but I was working and I missed it. I apologize to Feebs, and I'll make sure it doesn't happen in the future. *Heap scorn here*:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:
Pretty much. Everytime the blackberry buzzed yesterday, I set down the chainsaw and checked. It didn't occur to me that it would go to my other email account.
Ah yes, I was here for a few microseconds last night only. I can't do it from work, but once home, I'm gonna splash it up there!
Hey TFK, I don't know if anybody else got back to you yet but this is definitely something we'd like to look into and hopefully you'll stick around for that. I'm not really into MMA myself but believe it's smart to pursue from a business standpoint. I'd prefer not to mix it with the boxing news but to possibly branch it off into it's own section or sub-domain on the site with it's own home page, but we're a long way off from any of that. We still all have to get a handle on how to operate the site and finish up our transaction with Cupey before we can implement anything of substance. For all the other members, I've been working on a deal to possibly get a daily Boxing radio show affiliated with FightBeat, but have to coordinate with the rest of the partners and work out the website technicalities on how we can actually get this done in the best way possible. I probably shouldn't even have mentioned that but just want to let you guys know we are trying to get some things accomplished behind the scenes so we can get this thing up and running once we finish up our deal with Cupey and master this system a lot better. As of now, I've explored the CPpanel Cupey uses and am at a complete loss how to operate the system or do any useful editing. I'm relying on Cupey to bring Buddy up to date and then Buddy can bring the rest of us up to scratch. Hopefully it's a web based system all four of us can update when needed and not a templete Cupey is constantly uploading from his own computer at home.
Hello everyone, I know we are all eager to move quickly on this and finish up the site transfer. Unfortunately I was sick, and although I mustered up some energy for facebook writing a manual was a bit much for me. I think I have some of it already complete so it's not so bad. I'm also getting license information of vbulletin, info on how to transfer to new owner, and of course hoping to clear the finances of this transaction this week too. So all of you volunteers, writers, photographer, we do appreciate your support and we ask for a little more time until we can all get things squared away and start pumping out articles, videos, and more. Cupey
I need to have full access. There are things that I just cannot do, which is kind of weird. I don't even have access to do something like change the field under my username or activate membership requests. I need full administrative access to set this up. As for TFK, he should email any stuff he wants to my RDavidLeeder@gmail.com account.
It was a preview article. It doesn't make sense for me to post it now. I'll just take this one on the chin for being a dozy bastard and make sure I post the article next time.
