WHY is he a monster puncher? Because he kayo'd Jermain Taylor who has been kayod in 3 of his last 6 fights? You are making ridiculous comparisions. Abraham is not an elite fighter, and Pacman is. If you think knocking out a shot guy with no punch resistance makes a puncher go ahead and believe it.

As part of your boxing education please watch Abraham versus Shanon Taylor and Edison Miranda in the first fight. He couldn't dent either one of them. Abraham is an average fighter period.

Shannon Taylor going the distance with him, should really hurt an Arabham groupie, now I'm not a fan of Arthur, but even that hurts me, it is attrocious, and inexcuseable.

Uuuuuh, when U're Getting Hit on the Arms, The FORCE of the Incoming is Basically RAMMING Your Own Arms & Gloves Into your Own Face, Thereby Causing REDNESS...The Same Shit Happened to Winky Wright in Virtually EVERY Fight...

Abraham Landed the CLEANER More EFFECTIVE Shots by a Fucking MILE...He Even Landed the BETTER JABS than the Jabber..."Average Puncher"???...

Because of your Reliance on SCHTICK U Already LACK Credibility Around Here...R U Trying to See just how Faaaaaaaaaaaaar in the NEGATIVE U Can Get in that Regard???....

Wrong. Winky got hit the same way, but Winky always clearly outlanded his opponents. Abraham doesn't. There probably 4 clear rounds the entire fight. I am not saying that Jermain clearly won rounds I am giving a reson why I believe that to be so. I do not think salting away 230 of a round and then landing 1 or 2 shots is enough to overcome 20 or 30 punches landed even if the were blocked. Abraham btw gets hit clean and got hit clean plent last night.

Taylor's Level of Offense was INEPT @ Best, Dude...His Offense was CONSIDERABLY BETTER in the Early Rounds Against Pavlik & Froch than it was Last Night...BLOCKING a Shot is a Form of DEFENSE, which is Part of the OFFICIAL SCORING CRITERIA For Prizefights...

Yet YOU Take it Upon YOURSELF to PENALIZE Abraham for BLOCKING "20-30 Punches" Per Round w/his Arms...If Taylor Throws 20-30 & Lands ZERO, While Getting Caught FLUSH w/2-3 Shots Per Round, Guess What, Taylor ISN'T the "EFFECTIVE AGGRESSOR"...

I disagree with you. I can see why a person would give AA those rounds, but I don't. I can't even comprehend why people are saying AA's performance was dominant. I think almost all the rounds except 4 were debateable. The kayo was dominant and great. AA's performancew was not. Taylor should get credit for landing punches to the face even if it was blocked partially.AA's offense was inept except fort the 9th and 12th rounds.

That's the reason why blocked shots dont really count for shit. They don't do damage. The sad part is Taylor was actually trying to mimick Abraham's high guard at the time the shot blasted through and KO'd him.. the fact is a high guard is incredibly tough to use effectiely and consistently throughout a fight the way guys like Winky and Abraham do.

I agree with that. It seems simply but it isn't. Abraham is far less effective than Winky was, but he also has alot more power than the feather fisted Wright.

Because by about the 4th Round, it was Pretty OBVIOUS that Taylor Not Only had ZERO Chance of Winning, but was LIKELY to Get KO'ed...Abraham Earned Taylor's Respect QUICKER than Any Other Opponent has...Typically, Jermain Taylor Fights TO WIN, Especially EARLY...He NEVER Really Did that Against Abraham...

It wasn't obvious to me or one of the judges. Also, if anyone had stamina problems it was AA who was gassed even with his slothful punch rate. JT had zero chance of winning because he was in Germany.

Here is the thing. AA is just not active enough and if he fought on a level playing field with an unbiased ref, unbiased crowd and unbiased judges, he would rightly lose and would have lost a few of his fights.

His aggression is not effective, imo. The kayo was, but up until that point it wasn't.AA might land 10 punches a round. Taylor may have been landing crap, but 5 or 6 crap to 1 makes the scoring debateable. It isn't 2 to 1 or even 3 to 1. It is 5 or 6 to 1. That is why it is debateable.Obviously, AA won this fight because he kayo'd Taylor. The scoring up to it is debateable, imo.

I think you do have a point here, i was quite surprised with this....in the latter rounds, he dropped his hands more, and was breathing heavily. He wasn't gassed, but against a more aggressive opponent that could become more apparent.

If anyone is suprised with Abraham's suspect stamina, I'd suggest they watch him fight more than once.

    He always looks puffed out.

Indeed in every Arabham fight I've seen, he is breathing heavily, and his hands drop, in last third or quarter of the fight. His stamina is shit.

I think it is because of his style. Keeping hands that high, continuously taking punches against them and making spurts in every round is more tiring than you would think first. So far it has worked out for him

Sorry Ugo, but that's not true.

From my own experience boxing, covering up or holding is about the only time you are not expending energy.

A lot of the energy you burn in boxing is from the intense focus required to NOT get hit.

So for example, if you have a fairly loose guard, or have your hands lowish, you have to be focusing intensely and relying on your reactions to not get hit.

This mental energy is what drains you more than you would imagine, for people that have never boxed, you would be surprised, honestly.

And of course, the 2 physical factors are getting hit clean which takes it's toll, and throwing punches, whether they hit or not.

Being busy, almost always doing something, moving around and throwing a jab etc, even like Vitali's last fight for example, is far more tiring than just covering up.

Keeping such a tight guard is less mentally draining than relying on movement/reactions to avoid punches, and blocked punches don't have much effect. It's also less physically tiring, because you're not doing anything

Honestly I just think Arabham has naturally very bad stamina. It's one of those things that can only be improved so much by training, some people are born with good stamina, some aren't.

And the reason he fights so conservatively is because if he was as busy as most boxers, he would tire even quicker.

Sorry, but you make it sound like Abraham stood in a corner with his hands held high and didn't move at all while actually he moves pretty much (he just doesn't throw). And are you really saying that getting hit on the arms continuously and throwing all your shots full force (which Abraham does more than most fighters during his spurts) doesn't wear you down?

It could be that Abraham has bad stamina, but I think he fights that wy because it works so well for him. Against Taylor, he was not the one who was more tired, so obviously his stamina is good enough

Abraham puts a lot into his punches too. He was seriously gassed several times after teeing off on Taylor. It's too bad Taylor was too tired or too stupid to realize it, but there were times following his barrages when Abraham would've been ripe for the taking.

He doesn't really move around to the extent that Pacman or Floyd moves does he?

He moves around slowly, he's hardly expending any energy moving.

And no getting hit on the gloves and arms doesn't wear you down. It can make your arms feel sore or numb, but it's not going to have much impact on your overall stamina/energy levels.

Throwing punches and getting hit is what wears you down. Arabham did neither on Saturday, and still looked tired.

Plus to be fair, the few punches he does throw are like dead weight retard punches, he puts EVERYTHING into them.

But really, he just has bad stamina, that's why he fights the way he does, and it just so happens to work for him.

It's time Boxing gloves were redesigned to take the padding out the back of the hand so, as far as possible, only the knuckles are padded. Taking hard shots on the back of the hands for 12 rounds like that makes a total mockery of the martial foundations of the sport.

Another big mystery surrounding Arthur Abraham. Although clearly the most effective and least exhausting defensive tactic to keep your hands up 12 rounds and the guard rocksolid, it is only employed by Winky Wright, Arthur Abraham and Joshua Clottey. All these other stupid fighters.

It's extremely rudimentary & limiting actually. It leaves you with exactly two modes of fighting - covering up and punching. You really think a single great fighter would have been better if they'd just shelled up and walked forward instead of learning to slip, duck, roll, parry and deflect?

Anyone who thinks that holding an extremely tight, high guard is anything other than extremely exhausting, has obviously never been anywhere a boxing ring in your life.

Just holding your arms up like that is difficult for three minutes, let alone thirty-six. It's extremely, extremely tiring, which might go some way to explaining why so few boxers actually do it.
