Truely a pick'em. Morrison was the better fighter overall, but he would not be able to take The Sniper and he probably wouldn't be able to avoid it. Same other way around: Morrison's hook could have collected Sanders at any moment.

    Let's say Morrison. No, Sanders.

I think Sanders height and reach works against him in this fight. I know that doesn't make sense but I can see Morrison bullying in and KOing him in 4 because Sanders doesn't have the footwork to keep away.

It's probably one of those fights where whoever "gets there first" wins. I lean towards Sanders because of his reach and very quick left hand.

despite what commentators constantly say i dont think the hook is usually a terribly effective punch against south paws. so if it comes down to a battle of who gets their big left hand weapon in first you'd lean towards Sanders. Sanders at his best really was no slouch, total waste of talent.

It depends on the Southpaw but I tend to agree with you on this

Especially Whitaker, the hook was USELESS against him which is why the old "Buddy McGirt did well with a useless left hand" argument used to deride Whitaker always makes steam come out of my ears

I think if you, "can" land a good left-hook against a south-paw, it will fuck the guy up. The problem is landing it. Depending on the south-paw, it could be impossible.

I also think that one of the reasons it's viewed as a good weapon against south-paws is that it can be thrown over the south-paw's jab.

Still, it's so funny how there's a camp that says a lead right-hand is the best weapon against a south-paw, and a camp that says the left-hook is the best weapon. But as far as I can tell, the only sensible conclusion is that both weapons are important. It's like trying to have a passing game without a running game in football to think that one is more important than the other. The best fighters will use both the left-hook and the right-hand against south-paws, just as they would against orthodox fighters.

Completely agree. Sanders takes this in my book.
