I was in the ring sparing Dawson last week to get him ready for Glenn Johnson. Chad is every bit of 6'3. He is also a long boxing south-paw. His effort to eliminate defensive mistakes and maintain good ring generalship will keep him at the top of the division. His best asset is the ablity to change distance with his feet. I say Dawson TKO10. Who you got?!

To be honest with you I want Johnson to win, and I thought he deserved the decision in the last fight, and to me Chad was the only one getting hurt in that fight, and I don't see anyone stopping Glen anytime soon...
I am going with Glen by decision maybe with a KD...but I dunno if he will get the decision though.

Awesome that you got to spar with him--probably a top 10 p4p guy right now.

I like Dawson a lot, but he seems somewhat vulnerable to tough pressure fighters. Of course, he has two wins over two of the best pressure fighters in Adamek and Johnson so maybe it's not fair to him.

It is a shame that the light-heavyweight division is like it is at the moment....Johnson gives anyone a tough night, but after Johnson who is there?.....Then you look at the supermiddleweights, see if any of those guys wanna come up, but they are all tied up in a tournament for the next two years.

Still, with his talent, he could reign at light heavyweight for along time....there aren't many champions out there at the moment with a lengthy reign at the top of a division....Chad's got an opportunity to rule at 175 for the forseeable future.

Dawson is going to need every bit of skill he has to win because in the last fight Johnson handed him his ass. I'm pulling for Johnson.

Anyone that thinks Glen won the first fight does not know how to score a fight. Glen is one of my favorites and he lost clearly.

Chris got sent home in one day. Eddie Mustafa was very upset about that. I think Chris is a 70's style fighter. In saying that I mean the things he brings in the ring don't come across in tecnique sparing. His will and ablity to physically wear on someone in 10-12rds can't be shown with 16oz gloves and head-gear. Chad is not easy sparing if you don't play high speed chess.:kick:

Yeah when I watched the last fight live I thought forsure Glenn was Robbed, but have watch it many times now and Chad out box him. Now he is older and Chad has better game plan. I spar Kessler in Sac. starting Nov.1st. Stay posted!:slap:

Not many regular posters can give insights like sparring with world champions, we're lucky to have you Oates, I know you were probably wearing head protection and larger gloves, but how would you rate Dawson's power?..got some pop or what?..

Never trust the biased predictions of someone who's befriended a fighter. Be it sparring partners, or guys who did an interview and now consider themselves buddies.

That said, I think Johnson is too old to win this one. Anyone who would prefer Johnson to win isn't thinking about the future. That would mean Chad isn't a top dog which makes the division that much more hopeless.

It's not fair to Johnson to say Dawson beat him. Why do you think there's a rematch?

And I wouldn't call Adamek a pressure fighter either. He's an aggressive fighter, but more of a mid-distance fighter who likes to set his shots up - I wouldn't call him a pressure fighter though.

There is no shame in losing to Johnson, he's tough as nails. In my opinion Chad already did and I think he knows it too. But he'll be better this time around while Johnson will be same old Johnson, that's why I think it will be harder for Glen to win. But if anybody can do it I think it's Glen.

I think there's a rematch because every time there is a close fight someone screams for a rematch and if it is the right person screaming you get a rematch. Personally, I don't mind this rematch too much, but I think there were far more interesting options for both fighters, especially Dawson.

Maybe there were more interesting options, but Johnson deserved the rematch. Especially when the major of people polled think he won the fight.

Johnson definately deserves the rematch. Also, there's not really much else at Light Heavyweight.

I thought Johnson won the first fight, but I think Dawson will win the second fight easily. Johnson is good, but Dawson can adapt and upgrade his technique. He'll pick him apart in a fairly boring fight.

Thanks for the updates 3OG. You're a valued member on these forums.

That's what I stated a few posts up, I think Chad will probably clearly win. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he loses too. Maybe Johnson is to Dawson what Tarver was to Roy.

Otis, thanks for the insights mate, really appreciated! Looking forward to hearing what you make of Kessler, would be helpful in seeing how a potential future match up between the two would pan out maybe.

Chad has some decent pop. Diaconu is still the top guy in my book for one punch erase. Chad is a converted south-paw; so his lead hand is the power one. I think because he is so tall he doesn't like to hook w/ you but his jab is like a phone pole coming through your car window! In a 12rd fight he's a guy that's gone chip you away. TKO you after 7.

What do you work for HBO? Building one star at a time? The heart of this sport is in the fights, not the fighters. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we will be spared the likes of PBF/JMM.
