this is a ridiculous poll. DeJesus is one of the best lightweights ever. Tarver is a one-hit wonder who beat nobody with the exception of RJJ.

So By Virtue of Beating Duran, DeJesus is "1 of the Best Lightweights Ever"???...WHAT ELSE did DeJesus Do???...If Anything, he's MORE of a 1 Hit Wonder than Tarver is...

he beat Viruet, beat Lampkin twice, Ishimatsu who beat Buchanen. those wins are up there with some of Duran's best wins.

his point is RJJ is a nobody too. so Tarver beat noone. without exception. i don't agree RJJ is a nobody - just explaining his statement.

Can I vote for Milk Dud having a better career because of two (possibly three) wins over a supreme P4P fighter and (begrudgingly) all time great... but vote for DeJesus being the better fighter?

DeJesus, physically, was a perfect lightweight by build. When he moved up he didn't find success. DeJesus had slick skills, was tough as nails, and had good enough pop to hurt anyone.

The DeJesus bout I really like is the Cervantes bout. Boxing at a high level with two masters, a real pleasure to watch. Cervantes is as underrated as Esteban and was really something for a while. Actually, if he would've got the nod over benetiz - like lots of people thought he should've - his title reign was one of the longest ever in the division.

Having to go through Duran and Cervantes to win a title is off the scale in comparison to the world of multi-belts around these days. And Mamby was another guy that's highly underrated and a guy that's capable of beating anyone on a given night.

i thought Benitez beat Cervantes with his jab. still, for Estaban who didn't really have the size at 140, to go 15 with a big 140 pounder and murdurous puncher like Cervantes counts a lot.

and how was tarver's career better than DeJesus? how?

It really doesnt prove much anyway. Tarver was a good fighter, but no objective person could possibly think he'd have beaten a young Roy.

my point still stands about Cervantes, its not really relevant how you or anyone else scored it (I happen to agree with you) - we can put a Benitez-Cervantes poll up if that's what we want to get at.

I already explained why I thought Milk Dud's career was better. Go back and re-read, hint it's in the first sentence

I think he might have or they would have fought similar fights with either guy winning 2 out of 3. He has the style to beat Roy. Sames goes with Forrest and Mosley. Mosley was greater but I don't think he could ever beat Forrest.

tarver only had a better career because he got his cocaine addiction out of the way before he turned pro. tarver should get the nod, based on his success vs that common opponent, yayo

damn I almost agree with you. But picking Tarver boosts Roy so I can't do it.

DeJesus not only fought and beat better fighters, he himself was a far superior fighter to Tarver, much more versatile, did everything better

It doesnt matter what anyone says, Ray Lampkin alone was a better fighter than clinton woods or eric harding... And DeJesus was the only true rival to Duran in the 70s, when that was a very big deal...

This is the most lopsided poll in our history here.:lol:

Tarver's career was hardly great when compared to elite fighters. Tarver lost to every decent fighter he fought at least once. DeJesus was before my time, sorry.
