Wow, really? You think that sheer volume made Floyd get owned? I thought it was what was said that made the difference, not how loud it was. What I thought was special about this "interview" was how it stood out amongst all other such interviews. Let's face it, we all know how to crush bullshitters. I think almost anybody on here has the wit and ammo to destroy Floyd in such an argument, and I can take that further and say the same thing about bullshit politicians. Their farce is so obvious, it is really a simple matter in exposing them. The problem is, you will never see anybody get pushed at all on CNN or NBC, etc. Softball questions, accept any BS answer, thanks for coming on the show. I'd guess most politicians or celebs won't even DO an interview unless there are ground rules beforehand. Also, if things get the slightest bit uncomfortable, they just end the interview or refuse to answer questions, or even do the Clinton thing and give non-answer answers or say they "never said that" or "don't recall". But somehow this guy ended up with the PERFECT opportunity talking to Floyd. Floyd apparently came on the show with no subject taboo, answered questions for almost 20 minutes, and didn't hang up. So this guy did what a decent journalist should do. He stayed on topic, pressed the important questions, dismissed Floyd's constant distracting BS with FACTUAL retorts, and he didn't let him get away with his practiced, prepared, tired litany of irrelevant and nonsensical "reasons" that he doesn't have to fight the best and he's still the king of boxing. And look what happened. As the conversation went on, and Floyd's usual fodder got smacked down, little by little he got more desperate and started looking even MORE pathetic. Why won't you fight Paul Williams? Oh he never called me out. Sugar Shane called you out. Oh he took steroids 8 years ago. OK fight Margarito. Oh I would have but I made $4 million more with Baldomir. I'm the best ever because I'm undefeated. Well then was Brian Nielsen the best ever at 49-0? On and on and on it went, like a little scared kid scrambling to make up new "reasons" to somehow avoid saying what everyone already knows. As it went on, Floyd started sounding slightly retarded or somehow mentally challenged as his statements became more and more absurd, irrelevant, or redundant. By the time this thing was done, even for a guy like me who already dislikes Floyd, it really sunk in just how truly pathetic, cowardly, and embarrassing Floyd's act is. Our modern "media" is so accustomed to this sort of sound byte, air-headed, fawning approach that it's just become accepted. And even when you get someone who is willing to press a bit, they are typically undereducated on the topic and get buried by "facts" they cannot counter right then and there. But somehow, fate finally provided us with the perfect situation, and Floyd was skewered in minutes. In the end, this whole thing actually depresses me a bit. Because Floyd is such a talented fighter, we as boxing fans are all missing out on what could have perhaps been some historical and amazing fights. Pretty soon it will be too late to remedy this, and Floyd looks to be in no hurry at all to change anything. I wonder if he will every truly regret it?
He is ducking everyone. Marquez is not an acceptable opponent on any level. FLoyd should get no credit for fighting Marquez. At least Shane is a real welterweight.
Nice excuse...Williams, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Clottey over the last 4-5 years these guys have fought each other. MARGARITO fought all of them...but somehow MAYWEATHER was able to avoid them all.....how is that possible???..Clottey is the only one on the LIST that Mayweather could make an excuse "NOBODY knowns who he is/was"
Exactly, it reminds me of the time Trinidad failed to fight Whitaker and Quartey for years when they were the only relevant fights at welter. To his credit, after Pea detoxed for 2 years Tito finally manned up and fought the old shot former lightweight.
It's the truth and you know it. Cotto will get credit for fighting Manny or beating him. Floyd will be called a pussy for fighting little Manny Pac. There is always an excuse for Floyd winning or fighting some guy. People say Marquez was old but Shane is older than JMM.
Cotto got credit for fighting Mosley, CLottey, and Margarito and will get credit for the Pacquiao fight...win...lose or draw... Mayweather would be called a pussy??? so what is knew? If a guy for the last 4-5 years has been ducking Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Mosley for years..and then want to be ALL-AMERICAN BRAVE and fight Manny Pacquiao....wouldn't you question that....??? At the end..if PACQUIAO beats COTTO...there cannot be any excuses...PACQUIAO is the man...and Pac vs. Mayweather will be the biggest fight in boxing...
WTF? 'Rugged man' is white? Knock me down with a feather. I'm surprised i haven't caught flak from REED for loving this guy's interview yet.
Great post. You're right, he pressed him on every tiny thing that Floyd was fucking up on....it was refreshing. However, it was a once in a lifetime interview....the guy will do well out of it, but i'd be surprised if he ever gets a chance like that again. He was fortunate that not only Floyd was on the line, but that Floyd decided to STAY on the line. I can't see any boxer rushing to speak to this station, because you're only gonna get mass exposure if you end up making a dick of yourself. ::
:shit: Unless U're TRYING to REvisit an Issue U've SAID U DON'T Want to Address, REED Would Suggest U SHUTthefuckUP... REED:shit:
bottom line the two best challenges in floyd 's career were corrales and oscar. floyd has not faced the very best n a while
...i've only just listened to part two, i didn't expect it to get BETTER!.... 'Zab Judah was the best you had to offer right?...and you saw what i did to his ass....' 'You fought him after he lost to Baldomir...you put your balls on the table with that one' ::
Know what the best and funniest thing about that whole interview is? The fact that Floyd brought it on himself. He wasn't a guest on that show. He called there himself after hearing RA answer a question about boxing where he merely commented that he felt like Floyd stopped fighting the best guys after 2001. Floyd who must have been listening to the show got pissed off and called them up to try to prove them wrong and ends up making things 10x's worse. :: I fucking love it. I hope this really gets around. I know I've already seen it on at least 4 or 5 other message boards, but it'd really be cool if ESPN played a short clip of it on tv. We need this type of Floyd bashing out there to not only light a fire under Floyd but to let mainstreamers know the truth too.
the fact that Floyd-JMM did 1 million buys is a sad reflection of how the media can easilly manipulate the ignorant mass. How could a shamefull matchup like this could do more than 100k shows how cluelles the media are regarding boxing. This sham should have been decried by sports journalists but now, it will only hurt the sport in the long run ( new fans won't be so willing to shell good $$$ to watch another fight after that mismatch and other boxing superstar will be tempted to pimp the sport, to maximize thier short term earning, like Floyd does ).
Yep, sad thing is it't only the hardcore fans who will hear about this, and we all pretty much agree that Floyd matchmaking above 135lb has been shamefull. It's the mainstreamer than needs to knows that Floyd-JMM is NOT the best that boxing has to offer
I agree, though American sports journalists are no better than degenerative messageboard groupies, most have thier little biases, waving the flag, crying about foriegn fighters, sucking Fraud's dick, high rollin' on his spurious '0', and celebrating the sensationalist smack of his sociopathic personality. When he wins fights on a low eye-searing workrate and the endless illegal defensive impliments that inevitably hault the action to a crawl,.. they praise his 'sweet, slick, untouchable, brilliance' regardless of the opponent which is a growing trend of cherry picked midgets at catchweights for da p4p4p4p4p4p4p4p4p4p4p title :shit::shit::shit: .. but, this is not only exclusive to America, I know that the average moron in the world would bow down to dick level to the hero of thier country if he tried to exploit the entire sport to suit thier personal gains, because thier presence is simply a symbolic honour of the flag or the race. :shit::shit::shit:

What is funny to me is this guy is a fan of Hopkins who has built his reputation on fighting smaller guys his entire career. ::::Floyds has only being doing that in the last 5 years. Hopkins did it forever. Hopkins has lost to Jermain Taylor who no one else decent at middleweight on beyond did::::Guy loses credibility calling Floyd a fraud and supporting one of the biggests frauds in history.
yeah, the Hopkins thing got me a bit because during the early part of the decade, Hopkins was notoriously hard to negotiate and some good fights failed to materialise because of that. To his credit, recently he hasn't been looking for easy-paydays....perhaps because he feels he's got something to prove from a legacy standpoint, rather than purely worried about making dough....something Floyd should realise before it's too late. Also, he fucked up a bit on Mosley, saying Forrest had beaten him by 1999, Shane hadn't even fought Oscar by that point. So for someone who was bragging about his boxing historian credentials, he was innacurate....but i thought he was spot on with the general points he was making, and did a great job at taking Floyd to task on them.
wasn't he demanding a 60-40 split to fight RJJ a few years back?....He also agreed to fight Calzaghe and then changed his mind. The Calzaghe fight eventually happened, and it looks like the RJJ rematch will happen too.....but both fights should have happened a lot sooner. Look at his title defences between Trinidad and Taylor.
Yep...@ a Time when it was COMICAL for Bernard to Expect Such a Split...He Wanted 60/40 AND Wanted to Fight for Roy's Undisputed Lightheavy Title...That's where the Whole "60/40 I Kicks yo Ass" Rant Came From.... REED:hammert:
Dawson. It isn't so much that Hopkins ducked people. His division was complete shit. He could have gone to 168 to fight Calzaghe, but he instead called out Tito, DLH, Mosely. He then moves up to light heavy and fights exactly one light heavyweight. :::: It is no wonder to me why Hopkins refused to fight Joe for years and when they did Hopkins tried to quit. He is a bully. He is a guy who made his career fighting barely world class fighters. All you need to know is Jermain Taylor is the best fighter Hopkins fought at Middleweight after he fought Roy Jones. Against Taylor and Jones 0-3 Against the rest of the bums what was he 20-0. The point that you have missed totally is Hopkins should never, ever, ever, ever, ever be used as an example of a guy who will fight anyone unless that person is 1 to 2 divisions smaller. I will concede this though. Hopkins would have foughtany welterweight and junior welterweight in history. Too fucking bad, he was a middleweight and beyond his entire career!!
