Yeah it's 10 days away...a bit early..I don't give a fuck....I want predictions..and I want details...Outlander, REED, Donnybrook(that fence rider if anyone can find him), etc...details mofos..not just Pac KO 1..or Cotto KO 7..which is my prediction but i'm not going into details...BUT U have 2...actually i'm not sure about this fight any longer...sure Cotto has dealt with hand speed..but never with the footspeed, angles of Pacquiao...Cotto has to get a lot done in the early rounds..will Pacquiao give him the opportunities?

Roach is talking once again about Pacquiao stop Cotto early..just like he did Hatton..maybe Pac comes out aggressive..if Cotto can take it that will be good cause he can put some pain on Pacquiao early....but If Pacquiao comes out like he did vs. DE LA HOYA..bouncing, moving in and out with 2-3 punches..then thats a problem...Cause regardless of who he is fighting Cotto takes his feet of the gas after 5-6 rounds...and goes one for one..u win one round..i win one round...

Why the fuck is the mainstream media always late?? Finally showing some insight into boxing..and one of the best boxer of our time....right before his destruction...late ass cocksuckers...

    Pacquiao by decision

seeing the early rounds vs Judah is all the convincing i need....so here Cotto is facing another speedy southpaw with power.....but Pac won't fall apart and become a punching bag like Judah did
and Cotto isn't a walking corpse like DLH was...so it goes the distance

also though it was a while ago, the Corley fight is iny my mind....does Cotto struggle against southpaws

I'm favouring Pacquaio's speed more and more...Cotto's gonna have to take punches to land them....i see Pacquaio peppering him for several rounds, and eventually taking him out in 8. It is a tough fight to pick though, it wouldn't shock me if Cotto wore Pacquaio down with body shots, but i just feel he'll take too many punches in the process.

I'm with Xplosive, Pacquaio KO 8.

I am going to be sitting on the fence for this,.. I think it will come down to the power of Pacquioa's ticker as to wether or not he can beat a top welterweight, if he's got a little horse-heart who knows how high a weight class he can compete in,.. it's like Lennox Lewis and the Klitschko's, giants with the heart strength to move around like regular sized fighters,..whereas most heavyweights that large never get to thier level. Pacquioa's best punch is his left aswell and that can be a great advantage seeing as most opponents slam power punches from right hands from a conditioned angle,.. alot of Orthadox fighters arent used to being popped so hard from an unfamiliar direction where ordinarily the jab should be.

I honestly dont know, but if Pacquioa wins he's for real at welterweight,.. it's just a real fucking pity they felt the need to drain Cotto a bit in order of feeling comfortable enough to beat him, and in that respect I hope Cotto wins, and the hype over Pacquioa is a bit much, updates on every round of sparring,.. "Castillo got a bloody nose!!!" ... :shit: wow, ..ease the fuck up please..

I'm sort of on the fence with this also.

I'll lean towards Cotto, by TKO in 10.

Gotta go against the Pac-Man in this one. Give me Cotto in a KO anywhere between 6 & 8. Cotto is just too big. I'd love to be wrong though & I agree, if Pacquiao wins this, he's for real at Welter.

Manny Pacquiao via mid to late round stoppage. I think his speed, movement and southpaw stance will give Cotto fits. It will be give and take early but when Cotto fades like he always does Manny will step it up and stop him.

Hex, make sure you have Samaritans on speed dial the day after the fight, it's going to be hard to take when your boy gets smashed to bits. Remember, time is a great healer.

Pacquiao is going to be the one backpedalling in this fight. Cotto's pressure and body punching will have the corner rescuing Pacquiao late in the 9th round.

This is an interesting one, thats for sure.

On the one hand you have Cotto, one of the best fighters in the world, undisputedly one of the best welters in the world and arguably in his prime at 29. The guy has serious skills. His body-punching is world class, he has fluidity through decent footspeed (honed more through solid fundamentals than necessarily a flight of foot) and has quick, hurtful hands. Remember- before Margacuntbag eventually broke Cotto down with those wrapped hands, Cotto made him look fucking silly for six solid rounds, boxing beautifully from the outside, landing flush left and right combos and floating out of range before the disgraced shithouse could react. Those who claim that he was ruined in that fight were proven at least partially wrong when Cotto came through a serious cut to eventually grind out a win against Clottey: a notoriously tough customer.

However, there are two major factors which count against him here.

Firstly, there is no doubt in my mind that the cheating bastard has had at least some negative impact on Cotto. Cheating or no, he took a bad beating late in that fight and rare is the fighter who comes back the same from the sort of beatdown he suffered. There is bound to be mental scars from that fight which will resurface the moment Pac lands flush. Moroever, Cotto is notorious for slowing down the stretch. He has always had stamina issues and running out of gas is a bad, bad portent when you are likely to have Manny swarming around the place.

As for Manny, well, where to start? The guy is absolutely phenomenal: a modern day legend and a scary, scary talent. His successes as he moved up in weight has confounded the world. It is easy in hindsight to dismiss the Oscar fight as being a gimme because Oscar was weightdrained and/or shot, but barely a handful of people gave him a prayer pre-fight and he was a massive odds against underdog with the layers. And for all that Hatton has diminished markedly in the last two years, the manner in which Pac destroyed him was absolutely remarkable- I just stared dumbly at the TV as I watched it live, mouth agape like a guppy fish at feeding time. Hatton, for all his diminished status, is still arguably one of the best 140 fighters in the world and Manny absolutely took him apart in a matter of minutes. It seems that he has incredibly carried not just his speed but his power too, proving the old adage that 'speed is power'. He will swarm all over Cotto, trying to get inside Cotto's jab, negating the body shots he'll likely face and will try to tee off with those pitch perfect straight lefts.

Of course, there is still one question mark. What will happen when someone actually hits him? Neither Oscar nor Hatton were quick enough to land anything flush and so there is no way of knowing how he will react when a full-blooded welter hits him HARD.

Cotto should be quick enough to land plenty early. His movement and handspeed will cause Manny problems. Cotto is a hurtful puncher, albeit not a One-Punch-KO artist, so the early exchanges will be crucial and telling IMHO. Cotto's best chance is to land early, land to the body and land regularly. I honestly think he needs to win by early-mid KO to win at all, because if Pac is still in there pitching at halfway then he has to be favoured to take advantage of those mental doubts and the stamina issue down the stretch.

I picked Manny to beat Hatton but had my doubts all the way to fight-time. It was the first time I doubted him and I won't do so again in a hurry. The man is an absolute phenomenon. Cotto has a very good chance of winning by stoppage in the first four rounds IMHO, but the more likely outcome (and my official pick) is Manny stopping an exhausted and valiant Cotto around the tenth.

Absolutely can't fucking wait, whatever the outcome... :cheer:

nice...agree w/ much of this except for the outcome of course.

I been thinking of Cotto stamina..if he gets tired or tries to take rounds off like he has been doing lately, he will get riddle w/ punches....WE know Pacquiao won't be taking any rounds off...But i been thinking maybe he won't get tired much...usually he tires w/ guys applying pressure....Margarito, Clottey, N'dou, Mosley.....

This is just one of those fights where it's nearly impossible to pick. I didn't give Manny a chance in hell against Oscar. I thought for sure the world was about to see some serious midget abuse, I had to eat my words. I can't remember who I even picked in the Hatton fight but I thought that was another tough to call fight. What Manny did to Hatton, was impressive, I don't care what your opinion on Hatton was at the time and I don't care if Mayweather beat him first, NOBODY had even come close to doing what Manny did to Hatton. He absolutely destroyed him and he did it at Hatton's best weight of 140.

Now Cotto, sure he has not looked great since the Margarito fight, but who does look good against Clottey? Nobody makes easy work of Clottey, he gives the best 147 pounders hell. Not even Mayweather would have an easy time with Clottey. He got his face busted up and fought on to win a tough and close fight. Props to him, he could have folded but he did not. Cotto is legit, he is a top welter in his prime.

This is a great fight, I just can't make a pick. I'm going Donny Brook on this one. I will pull up some vague flip flopping post after the fight is over and claim that I knew it all along.

But getting hit in the face 40-50 a round....having an opponent in range, & split second later you missed w/ your punches and he counters you with another 2-3 punches...break youe will and probably tired u out after a few rounds....and IMO thats what happen to DLH...Pacquiao punches were not hurting him where he could get KO...but he could not land anything clean and was being used as a human punchbag...

and the whole CAMP thing also is fucked....COTTO has this sorry as Trainer..and Pacquiao has freddie Roach who surely broke down Cotto style..and knows all his weakness and strengths...

and I'm thinking PACQUIAO is going to go HARD to COTTO's BODY...nobody has gone to his body before....

I honestly think that Cotto's stamina issue is going to be a MAJOR factor here. He takes a LOT of time off against guys who pressure him, and Manny will pressure him from first to last. as a result, Manny is likely to win by accumulation, because Cotto will get hit A LOT and get tired as he always does; this is never a good combination...

I have no idea where MTF gets the idea that Cotto is quick.

He is not slow, but his speed at welter is average at best, but he has good timing and accuracy to compensate for his lack of speed.

The only concern for Pacquiao is Cotto's power. Without doubt, Cotto hits harder than Hatton and old Oscar.

    We've been here before...

He isn't NATURALLY quick or necessarily blessed with natural speed of either hand or foot. But he is exceptionally tidy in his movement, and this allows him to be fairly quick.

As I said previously, look again at the way Miguel made the cheating sloth chase shadows for six rounds. Granted, plasterino is as slow as hell, but Cotto danced round him seomthing silly for six rounds. Moreover, Cotto beat Mosely to the punch plenty of times when they fought, and Mosely is universally recognised as being very speedy.

For all of that, there is no doubt whatsoever that Manny will have a MASSIVE speed advantage here.

I don't disagree with anything you just said, but you're confusing speed with economical movement, accuracy and timing.

Indeed Cotto did outslick sloth arse Plasterito something fierce in the first 6 rounds, but as you said, Marge is slow as fuck.

Forrest also beat Mosley to the punch, even though he was significantly slower. Due to timing and accuracy.

Certainly good timing and accuracy and movement CAN negate speed.

But Cotto is not quick by any stretch of the imagination. Despite beating them, he looked much slower than Mosley and Judah for example.

I'm just too back and fourth on this one. One minute I'm thinking Pac the next I'm thinking Cotto. When I'm not sure I tend to just stay out of the predictions so that's what I'm doing here.

No. I don't want to be either right or wrong off a fucking guess. When I feel certain who will win, I state who and I state why. That's why I rarely post in prediction threads because I usually don't know to a certainty in my own mind, or just don't care enough to predict.
