According to The Independent on Sunday there is a rumour that Hatton is poised to announce a return bout against the mexican. Persumably at 140. What d'ya think?....does anyone even care!?
In terms of money i guess it makes the most sense for both guys. I'd watch it but i can't say it's one of those matchups i'd be eagerly anticipating. Clearly the luster has been removed from both guys recently. Nice clash of styles though.
I'm happy with it. Hatton's taking on a guy who's more than legit. I was kind of thinking that Hatton would fight a tomato can or two and get the benefit of a title fight with Amir just to set up an all England big fight. The 140 lb picture still has some very winnable fights for Hatton. Though I guess we won't really know how the KO affected him until he comes back. Khan Maidana Juan Diaz Kotelnik Bradley Torres Holt Ortiz Malignaggi Campbell (in no particular order)
Amir and Hatton will likely happen if Hatton gets past Marquez. It would probably get him more cash than against more proven opponents like Bradley. Naturally it would be big in England.
Hatton's Punch Resistance is SHOT & his Defense ALWAYS SUCKED...That's a BAD Mix when Coupled w/the ACCURACY, PRECISION & POWER of JM Marquez... REED Can't See Hatton Lasting More than 7 or 8 Rounds @ BEST... REED:hammert:
Totally agree Hatton cannot take the punishment that his style requires to be successful. Look at his face sitting on the stool after one round with Manny.
great matchup, these are the kind of fight that we should be getting, even thought both lost their last fight it doesn't mean that they suddenly sucks
i never understand how that happens in boxing? he went from walking through kostyas big shots to being rocked by guys like lazcano?? its happened to many fighters.
Even if U're a World Class Fighter, the Human Body is Built to Absorb Only Sooooooooo Many FLUSH Punches...Hatton's Chin was Obviously RELIABLE @ 1 Point, but his STYLE, his LACK of btwn Fights DISCIPLINE & his LACK of Defense Finally Caught Up w/Him... Honestly, he'd B BETTER Off Facing the Diaz-Malignaggi II Winner than JM Marquez... REED:hammert:
HABITUAL Drinking LESSENS your Athletic Potential & Capability in ALL Regards...If U're a SWIMMER that DRINKS Alot, U're NOT Gonna B as Good as Elite Level Swimmers that DON'T Drink...Ditto for Other Sports, Most Prominently COMBATIVE Sports... REED:hammert:
It doesn't. Hatton had been rocked by Tackie and had to hold on and dropped by that Irish guy (can't think of his name). He always was able to hold on and work his way through getting caught. I think Urango hurt him with one shot and Colazzo defintely rocked him at the end of a fight. So Hatton could always be hurt. But he found ways to recover. Against Manny he got caught EARLY then had to get up and face a buzzsaw coming at him. He admitted the day after the fight that he was hurt badly in the first knockdown and never got a chance to recover (Manny did what he was supposed to do.) We'll see how he bounces back. I think he'll be fine. He's never going to be on Floyd or Pac or Cotto's level. But I think he can still beat some (maybe most) of the big names at 140. I'll be betting on Hatton over JMM. I like JMM a lot but I don't see him winning this.
I really don't know how good or bad Marquez is at 140'ish....the Mayweather fight did show much...It look that Mayweather size and defense were his biggest problem.... vs. Hatton all he has to worry is about size....and the humping..if he can deal with that he rips Hatton face apart to decision victory.
I dunno. Drinking kills braincells. Enough binge drinking can destroy enough braincells that your balance is diminished over a period of years. Punch resistance is determined by a number of things---including the fluid level in your brainpan. If you lost a lot of weight quickly, your general bodily fluid levels tend to drop. Less fluid in your brainpan means a greater chance of your brain getting slammed into the inside of your skull from a blunt force trauma: instant concussion. Having to dehydrate to make weight because he partied too much in the off-season may have affected Hatton. He's known for loving his beer. All of this comes down to the individual. His lack of defense is more likely the main culprit, but there probably were other contributing factors. I think back to Julio Cesar Chavez and his weeklong beer parties. Near the end of his career, I wonder how much binge drinking had gone on to affect his latter performances. I know we'll never know, but like a boxing writer once said (I'm paraphrasing), "If you treat your body like a sewer, eventually you'll go down the drain".
Hatton doesn't actually drink much though....like all British people, he gets hammered off only 3 or 4 beers so i doubt drinking has had a big effect on him
:atu: don't you see all the Brits getting loud and rowdy after just one beer? hopeless they even talk in gay accents without any alchohol at all...can't get a lower tolerance for booze than that
Clearly he had more problems with Floyd's skills and speed than size itself. Rarely it played a factor in the fight. Floyd's counterpunching and superior skills made him struggle from the begining.
Maybe....but had they been the same size it would not had been soo easy for Mayweather....It looked like Mayweather had a couple of inch height advantage and was just the bigger guy..WITH all the skills in the world..
If i was Hatton i would just wait...and if Pacquiao beat Cotto... Cotto vs. Hatton in 2010....in NYC would still be a huge fight..much bigger fight that fighting Marquez...IMO..
