Haye throws about eight punches a round. He USED to throw millions, but the Thompson loss forced him to conserve energy instead. Haye is exciting because his right hand is the big equaliser, but he isn't prima facie exciting. Guys like Katsidis are exciting, because they throw trillions of punches. Haye doesn't, and that is coming from a long certified Haye supporter... MTF
There are different types of excitement...you're right, he's not a brawler.....but he's been in a lot of exciting fights in not a long career
Haye: “I did it exactly what I had predictedâ€, exclaimed the flamboyant champion. “I proved myself to be the best heavyweight in the world. Valuev was a tough fighter to overcome but I’ve done it at the end of the dayâ€.
Wasn't impressed at all. I'm hoping it was a mixture of injured hand/the freakish nature of the fight, which made him fight the way he did, but I am expecting a hell of a lot more in his next fight. After all the talk, a spectacular performance was all that was going to suffice, that was so fucking negative it was ridiculous. The thing is, I believe he could have made a real statement and stopped Valuev, he was just too negative, but he had the tools. Twat. Oh and he had BETTER fight one of the Klitschko brothers next year after talking all that shit.
He doesn't have to,.. he's already said ''he proved himself the best heavyweight in the world''. What a refreshing, exciting, sexy breathe of fresh air, and a much needed personality in a stale, pale heavyweight division.
He said he proved himself the best heavyweight in the world already, I wonder if that's a sign of things to come for our newly crowned paper champ, it sounds like the introduction of a Fraud Mayweather route. I think our beloved Haye will do just that, Fraud the belt, with no guarantee he'll win one fight from the next, your bet is on. :crafty:
NO.....it was HAYE....but if they had any....*looking at Wladimir* any doubt he had has been cleared up..... Though i still think Haye has a good chance vs. Wladimir....none vs. Vitali...
A 'good' chance? ... it wont take Haye long to get on his exciting refreshing bike when his head pops up off his shoulders from Wlad's left piston, a punchers chance (like all heavyweights have), but not a 'good' chance you tongue.
Haye will get on his bike vs. Vitaly...but against Wladimir he will get plenty of chances to land punches.....sure "punchers chance"...whoever lands the first hard punch would win the mind game..and control the fight till the KO comes....
Given Haye's strengths, I don't know why he chose to fight Valuev so cautiously and conservatively. He is fast. Especially early on, you can see that he has fantastic speed, and he hits hard. He has other skills, certainly, but his strength is offense. Haye did not seem particularly gassed, even late, so I am not sure why he chose to stay inside and trade so little. He easily beat Valuev to the punch, and I felt Valuev had little advantage over Haye whether at close range or farther out. So all in all, I am disappointed and a bit perplexed. However - no matter what the odds end up to be, David Haye has shown that he has the athleticism, reach, and speed to catch either Klitschko, and catch them HARD. He can throw LONG powerful right hands and can even get out of the way after he throws them. Unlike Arreola for example, who just plain could not catch Vitali, Haye could do it. And if he gets Wladimir, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind he could end the fight early. That, at least, makes me want to see Haye vs. Some Klitschko get made. I think Wladimir would be by far the better choice for Haye, but I would be interested in either fight. The one major thing I think he needs to address is inactivity. He MUST throw more punches. He will lose to either Klit if he doesn't significantly increase his punch output. There just is not a high enough chance of a one punch KO against better opposition - you need to win rounds.
How does he do that being popped and possibly wobbled by Wlad's consecutive piston?,.. one 245lb piston on Haye's small head, and there will be a good 50+ per round to come,.. somebody is gunna get a bit scared I think, this refreshing, essential heavyweight saviour said of Monte Barrett and I quote, "His jab, felt like a cruiserweight right"...:: , there's all this focus on how Wlad handles Haye's power,.. what about Haye handling Wlad's power?.. is it a non issue?...
Sorry but Haye doesn't hit that hard. At cruiserweight yes, not heavy. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he KO'd Wlad, even though we all know Wlad has a glass chin.
he said afterwards that he broke his right hand early on....i'm not sure that would have changed the way he fought, but it is worth taking into account ...that was a special game plan, for a special opponent. The Klitschko's are big too, but 5 inches shorter!...that is significant. Haye knew these tactics would work against Valuev....he probably knows they won't against the Klitschkos, so he would apply the same tactics. But he's a very fast heavyweight, he's got to use that to his advantage, so he's not gonna go toe-to-toe with most heavyweights. In hindsight, we can see that he had plenty left in the tank, but until a long way into that fight, he wasn't to know how tired he would be later. If he fought Valuev again, he'd know exactly what was required, and he'd be willing to throw more.
Craig David Haye I thought Haye fought a clever fight last night, he didnt get hurt and he shook valuev, all with a busted hand. Valuev is a disgrace to heavyweight boxing, he is slow, has no power, probally the most boring world champion out of any division. Im so glad Haye won, he has put a bit of excitment back to that borinnig division, bring on Wlad. :hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert::hammert:
King/Sauerland will co-promote Haye´s next three fights.:: I knew something was up. Usually when a challenger fights like Haye the German commentator will say: It´s a close fight, you have to take the belt from the champion, close round, but I give it to Valuev for being the aggressor, you can´t win a championship on the road running away. This time from the first round on everybody was masturbating all over Haye´s movement, swift counterpunching and so. Haye didn´t seem overly concerned about the judges either. Get ready for a long list of shitty DK/Sauerland heavyweights like Ruiz, Brewster, Akinwande, Rahman and Austin. ::
Kalle didn't seem too unhappy at the end either. Haye will definitely fight Ruiz next, but i don't think DK/Sauerland will exert too much control over who Haye fights afterwards....Haye and Adam Booth plan ahead and they generally get what they want.... they wouldn't have given up much control for this fight, just a juicy slice of the money pie. I think a Klitschko fight will happen next year....the Klitschko's are business men, Haye is by some way the most lucrative opponent out there now.
It makes you want to throw up, the sport is beyond repair, it's a devils playground, an absolutely fucked disgusting joke.

Haye's power is no Joke. One thing that can never be said is that Valuev doesn't have a fantastic chin and Haye really hurt him. If that had been Wlad, he would still be unconscious.
Besides the fact that Valuev has been hurt before, you might have a better point, if he actually hit him in the head, and not on the cervical artery.
Correct. It is a myth that Valuev has not been hurt, even Jean Francis Bergeron wobbled him. And in the replays you can see that it is Haye's wrist more than fist that lands on him
