Last Nights Main Event was PERFECT for Mixed Martial Arts' MAINSTREAM Appeal...The "Michael Jordan of MMA" was Shown NATIONWIDE in the United States, his Opponent was a MUCH Bigger, INTIMIDATING Looking Foe that WASN'T the Least Bit Afraid of him & it was an EXCELLENT Fight!!!... The 1st Punch that Rogers Landed Fucked Fedor's Grill Up & it Took Fedor a Few Moments to COMPOSE Himself as they Leaned Against the Cage...Then Rogers had Some Impressive G & P, but it was DOWNHILL from there... The BEST Thing about Fedor is his EXPLOSIVENESS...For the Most Part, Dude Looks DEMURE & Completely UNinterested (Even IN the Cage)...Then BOOM!, Out of Nowhere he Explodes w/Heavyhanded, Rapid Fire Shots...Fedor FAILS the "Eye Test" MISERABLY (FLABBY Build, Balding, Wearing PANTIES in the Cage::), yet he's a Fucking BEAST...His Physical Appearance is Sooooooo UNspectacular that THE LAST Thing Opponents Expect is a SPECTACULAR Display of All Around MMA Skills... GREAT Night for MMA & the Asking Price to Get Fedor to Come to UFC just Went UP!!!... REED:hammert:
Um, that's simply not true. I like Fedor, and was impressed with this win, but to say he wasn't in any trouble is just wrong. He got his nose broken by the first punch thrown, he got manhandled against the cage, and then when Rogers managed to get him down, he took some flush shots in the ground and looked fucked, looked like a few more flush shots could have stopped the fight.
The funniest and most awesome fight in the history of the universe. Sometimes when I watch it I like to pretend that Zulu is Brock Lesnar. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8687255343464345443#
It's Called "Competitive ARROGANCE" & REED Absolutely LOVES It...Fedor is Soooooooooo SURE about HIS Abilities, that he'll Beat Dudes @ THEIR OWN Game...He OUTSLUGGED Rogers in the 1st Round, to the Point that All Rogers Wanted to Do was Remain CLOSE During the 2nd... We ALL Know that Rogers STRENGTH is his Stand-Up, yet 1nce Again, Fedor Brought Himself DOWN to Another Guys Level, so to Speak, yet Still Won IMPRESSIVELY... REED:hammert:
I know I've said this before, but it's honestly one of my favourite things about Fedor. It's funny and cool and bizarre. Like a Wolf in sheep's clothing. Like a Nissan Micra outclassing a Ferrari on the track.
He Wasn't in Danger of Being STOPPED or Anything, but Fedor was DEFINITELY In Trouble in Round 1...Fedor was CONTENT w/Laying on the Cage, After his Nose was 1st Broken...It Gave him Time to COMPOSE Himself & ADJUST his Breathing... & Rogers Landed about 2-3 NICE Shots as he G & P'd Fedor... REED:hammert:
That Facet of Fedor Could Make him a Crossover STAR in America...The FACT is, MOST Americans have IMPERFECT Looks as Fedor Does...A DOMINANT Fighter w/Fedor's Physical Appearance will APPEAL to Most Americans... By Comparison, Brett Rogers PASSES the "Eye Test"...He LOOKS like a Dude that Can Fuck Up MOST People he Crosses Path's w/...In Front of NATIONWIDE American Audience, Fedor STRETCHED him w/a Single Right Hand...REED Isn't Sure of the DEPTHS of the Heavyweight Competition in Strikeforce, but they DEFINITELY Need to Keep Showcasing Fedor on NATIONAL Television.... REED:hammert:
Yep, although he fought through it as per usual, the broken nose definitely bothered him. It took him a while to get it back together, and it looked like he welcomed the breather against the cage. Put it this way, last night was the most trouble Fedor has been in for years.
Yeah I hope more people see that type of appeal in Fedor's look. And Rogers indeed looks like someone you wouldn't fuck with. A big, mean, real life Mr T.
I don't know about manhandled. They were both sort of gaining their composure against the cage. Brett did nothing to manhandle him. He may have been in a "little" trouble. But knowing Fedor, I knew that he had been through worse and he looked pretty composed. I may have been a little more worried if it was another fighter.
w/Out KNOWING his Background AHEAD of Time, there's NATHAN the Least Bit Intimidating about Fedor's Looks, Gatti...He VERY MUCH Looks like your Typical MIDDLE AGED, BEER DRINKING, COUCH POTATO American Male... REED::
You need to take into account that Rogers just might be the STRONGEST fighter Fedor hasnt ever fought. Hard to use Sambo againt someone that strong. I would say Mark Hunt was the second strongest, and you saw he had Fedor hurt and on his back too. The problem is that Fedor never panics. Also, his wild swinging/sloppy punches is something that he has been doing his whole career. Its his style. Fedor was in trouble for a second just a second when he was up againt the cage. But This is a fight. And Fedor the best fighter in the world. He was going to win. Tell you what, if there is a rematch, i predict Fedor wins much quicker.

TRUE!... Fedor's DEFINITELY Got that DETACHED, BLANK, Serial Killer Stare...DESTROYING yet Another Opponent Illicits About as Much Emotion from Fedor as a Morning Piss would.... REED:hammert:
agREED... It Took Fedor LESS than 2 Rounds to Make Brett Rogers LEERY about Standing Up w/him...REED's NEVER Seen Rogers RETREAT as Willingly as he Did Last Night...But Fedor's POWER & HANDSPEED Made him Fight that Way & B 4 Loooooooong, Rogers Wanted NO PARTS of Fedor Standing Up, Unless he Could LEAN on him... Rogers STRENGTH is his Stand-Up & Fedor Basically Took that AWAY from him, which would CERTAINLY Affect him Mentally in a RE...If they Did it Again, Rogers DOESN'T Make it Out of the 1st Round... REED:hammert:
It would have seemed the best strategy for Roger to try to "box" Fedor. He had some success with it as did Arlovski. They keyword there is "some". Fedor is difficult to simply box with not because of his power alone, but because it's difficult to make him pay when he lunges in. Even if he misses a shot, if he's coming forward and collides with you. If he can grab hold at that point you have another set of problems.
Watch the arlovski fight in Slow Motion. Then tell me how many punches arlovski actually landed. Also, how many punches did Rogers land standing? 1? 2? The jab i think. Most of Rogers connects were againt the cage (Fedor's First time in a cage)
I never said Arlovski landed a pile of blows. However he was at least for the most part setting the pace and keeping the right distance. Although AA and Rogers both got blasted out by single shots, they at least gave themselves what appeared to be the best chance of winning.
I am excited about Roger's future. I really think he can be very successful. In fact, i would love him to go train with Fedor.
He just gave a decent fight to the best in the world. He can't really do much more where he is now. Career wise he'd probably be better off going to the UFC. Of course that's dependant on what his contract is with Strikeforce and if Dana White would give him a legit offer.
