Having confirmed that he is going to face Fragomeni for a world cruiserweight title, Erdei has officially relinquished the WBO 175 title, ending its recent lineal claim...and Brahmer has conveniently been upgraded from interim, keeping the Universum hold on the title...nice to see they finally managed to buy the million year talent a title.

That's the only way to give Germany a home grown paper champ it appears, this is pleasant following the recent fixed fight from the ever credible Wilfried Sauerland, yes, boxing is a global sport alright.

Maybe Adamek and Erdei will fight? Oh. Probably not.

Nice. It may have the longest lineal claim in the sport right now.

The tradition is dead...long life the tradition of shitty world title challengers...

I´m already scared ZDF will change their mind and re-new the TV contract, because Universum presents them some new chumps as champs. It´s hilarious that the WBC interim middleweight champion fights on the same night as Kelly Pavlik and his opponent is even shittier than Pavlik´s. Although in fairness to Zbik he is probably worse than Espino, too, so it would be a bit much to ask him to fight somebody mediocre.

    Zbik

After beating a master pizzabaker in Spada, Zbik should get by this guy with no problems. I would love it though if Fragomeni beat the shit out of Erdei, but I think he might be too slow and predictable.

He barely beat Spada, held on for most of the last six rounds.

Universum doesn´t care all that much about Erdei. The whole move was made to create space for Brähmer. If Erdei was in great shape, he could make 168. His chin is not the best, he allegedly has back problems, and he doesn´t like pressure, but you might be right, that Fragomeni is too basic. Nevertheless I´ll probably have a small go at Fragomeni by KO, if I can find it.

I still can´t believe ZDF paid Universum over 20 million euros a year for all the shit they put out there.

Its a pretty shit deal for Erdei, he is definitely undersized at CW, he'd have reason to complain if he hadn't profited under the same regimen for quite a while. Brahmer is vulnerable enough, they are gonna have to drip feed him bums. I didnt see the Zbik-Spada fight, am shocked it was competitive, Spada is seriously awful.

So why doesn't Erdei go right back down to LH like Dariusz did? Seems odd to go to cruiser. It's not like there's more money there, especially with the potential 168 guys.

Pretty much and they sold him on the idea that this is a huge fight, called it a unification fight in press releases. The intentions behind the move are pretty obvious. They need German world champions to get a new TV deal, and so Brähmer was now elevated, Zbik is holding the interim WBC middleweight belt, and Tajbert will be fighting Gutierrez for the WBC 130 pound title shortly, although he lost a UD in Germany to Gulyakevich, who Gutierrez beat for the belt.

Erdei weighed in at 179 (!!!) and managed a MD win over Frag.
Why did he relinquish his belt? Someone should be shot.

He´s going back down to 175 to challenge Cloud or Pascal next. He was lucky today, that Fragomeni is a featherfisted bum, but he showed great heart in a great brawl. He had no business being upright at the end, but he was.

Erdei had 11 wbo lh defenses. He could have petitioned for Super Champ status. Also...here are the WBO regulations that also would be relevant:

SECTION 15. NONCHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS or NON-WBO CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS
    (a) Nothing in these Rules is intended to prohibit a World Champion from engaging in non-WBO Championship fights, even if the non-championship fight is in a weight category different from that in which the Champion is the WBO Title holder. The outcome of any non-title fight shall not affect the recognition of the World Championship by the Organization, provided, however, if a WBO Champions loses a match subject to this Paragraph, the WBO the World Championship Committee may order the WBO Champion to conduct a Mandatory Contest within 120 days of losing the match.
    (b) A WBO champions shall not participate in a non-championship fight that is not a WBO Championship without the prior authorization of the WBO World Championship Committee. This authorization shall be subject to such conditions as the WBO World Championship Committee determines. In addition, this authorization will be granted only on the condition that the WBO Champion pay a fee to the WBO that is the equivalent of the amount that he WBO Champion would have paid to the WBO if the nonchampionship fight were conducted as a WBO Championship fight.
    (c) A WBO Champion who wins a non-WBO Championship in weight class that is different than the weight class in which he holds his WBO Championship must decide within ten (10) days of the non-WBO Championship which title in which weight class he will retain. No WBO Champion may hold a non-WBO Championship in a weight class that is different from the weight class of his WBO Championship.
