    I don't think it would be in Mannys best interests to give up early rounds. I see the point you're trying to make but he needs to stay ahead of, or at least with Floyd, otherwise he's always playing catch up and he might get desperate.

    That there may be a 56 year old example involving an all-time great isn't exactly what I would call persuasive.

    Did Rocky knock him through the ropes with a punch to the arms?

    It's not effective at helping you win a fight. It doesn't score and we have one possible 56 year old example of where it may have worked.

    Otoh, with some help we can probably name 10 fights in the past 10 years where the winner won because the loser hurt himself punching the winner. That doesn't make it a good strategy to get hit.

    I was just playing off of your words of having seen many fights and never seeing that tactic. So, I used a legendary fighter as an example because I figured any student of the sport would be able to identify with it.

    This is what Freddie said a few months ago;

    The key to beating Mayweather is literally beat him up. You take what you can get. He is elusive but he can’t move his body. He is very quick with head movement. You break his body down, he has bad hands, bad ribs, bad knee and he’s had rotator cuff surgery. This is not a guess it’s the facts, period.

    Freddie said this about PBF after the Cotto fight.

    Well we're not worried about his punching power, because he doesn't have any. But he is fast, but we are fast enough to deal with that. We have better foot work, and he doesn't like to engage too much. We will break him down like we did Cotto. He poses more of a problem with his speed. If he lays on the ropes and rolls his shoulder, and all of that bullshit, we will eat him up.

    No, you are ok and I read your posts so unlike most of the idiots here I don't dismiss you lightly. I don't want to sound like Karl either. I was awful at boxing. I have boxed however. I just don't think you know what you are talking about in this regard. I have been hit in the back, the arms, once in the leg on the thigh and it took alot out of me. Yeah, I know I sucked, but pain is pain. You body does not know what a scoring zone is or isn't. I even got a bloody nose once from blocking a punch Arthur Abraham style. The impact was so hard my gloves crashed into my face and caused some bleeding. So in short, stick to what you know. Never comment on in ring strategy again. Thank you.
