:::: Oh shit, I laughed for a couple minutes. That shit was funny, and Ike did come with a good comeback, but this post here was just funny as fuck, hell I'm still giggling while I post this. Anyway, I agree that Tito was too tall, and rangy for Pac. Also, at 147 where Tito was at his best, he was a lot more patient and a better boxer than at any other time during his career. I don't agree with Xplosive that Tito was faster than Manny though. I also don't abide by Ike's interpretation of what constitutes a great fighter. By Ike's thinking Tito isn't great because he never beat any other elite fighters. Also by Ike's thinking Mosley isn't great because he only beat 1, (even though Shane recently stopped Margarito I assume Ike doesn't count that because Margarito is overrated and also not elite). So where is the cut off in your book Ike? 2 elite fighters? 3? What Ike fails to take into consideration is the number of title defenses Tito made over and over again, and the impressive one sided victories in those defenses. These were not close fights, Tito destroyed his competition. He wasn't having close fights with those guys and therefore isn't it possible that that means Tito was elite but just wasn't quite as good as the elite fighters he fought? Same thing applies to Mosley. Of course Ike isn't going to agree with me, but in reality I'm telling you guys this shit not him because I already know he won't be deterred from his thinking.
Just like Mosely, Tito fought a string of bums and that is why he defended his title many times. He had 3 good/great fighters in his division for 3 or 4 years and only after Pernell was completely shot did he finally agree to fight him. He never fought Quartey and when he fought DLH he was badly outclassed. I guess by yourr "logic' Buster Douglas is an ATG because he beat Mike Tyson once. If Shane Mosely were a great fighter, he wouldn't have been reduced to a sparing partner in his fights against Vernon and Winky who beat him whilst yawning. He also lost to Cotto. That was even shocking to me. As overrated as Shameless Shane is he was still better than Cotto, but I guess not sionce Cotto got the decision.::::
I was never impressed with Trinidad at welterweight. He was getting tagged and knocked down by slower and lesser fighters than Pacquiao. Trinidad gets knocked down and beat up for 12rds
I just watched Mosley-Cotto the other day. It coulda easily been a draw. It was a closer fight than I had even remembered. But I think its pretty obvious that a prime version of Mosley woulda badly fucked up Cotto.
