http://www.fightnews.com/?p=31049#more-31049 See above, read to end. I love Joe Koizumi's fight reports, no pretence at journalistic objectivity, he's never disguised his dislike for the Kameda bros. ::
hmmmm...one thing I haven't noticed before... "Unbeaten WBC female atomweight champ Momo Koseki (6-0, 2 KOs), 101.75, kept her belt by winning a nearly shutout decision (99-91 twice and 100-90) over Teeraporn Pannimit (8-3, 3 KOs), a 17-year-old Thai girl, over ten." an 18th weight class? (dismissing supercruiser) At boxrec when you search by WBC female titles, it doesn't show up as a weight class. However, looking at Koseki's boxrec record, it shows this entry which may have been the genesis of atomweight: <TABLE align=center><TBODY><TR><TD>2007-08-31</TD><TD>100</TD><TD>Winyu Paradorn Gym</TD><TD>101</TD><TD class=c>4-1-0</TD><TD align=right><TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD class=w></TD><TD class=l></TD><TD class=w></TD><TD class=w></TD><TD class=w></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD><TD>The Office of Pak Hai District, Ayutthaya, Thailand</TD><TD class=rl>L</TD><TD>UD</TD><TD align=right>10</TD><TD align=right>10x2</TD><TD> </TD><TD class=right></TD></TR><TR><TD class=left></TD><TD class=cs colSpan=13>~ referee: Bruce McTavish | judge: Anek Hongtongkam 94-96 | judge: Franz Marti 95-96 | judge: Thawut Plumsamran 94-96 ~ ~ Vacant WBC Female Atomweight (102lb) Title ~ </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
"The officials of this night might have evaluated the technical side of the fight rather than the fighting spirit." might as well have said Kameda fought like a bitch.
i've never been impressed w/ kameda and it doesnt surprise me a bit that he struggled to a guy like naito, who imo just isn't that good. granted, naito is very well experienced and does have the one significant win over wongjonkam (in a very very close fight), but i figured if Kameda was the real deal, then he would've won via stoppage or in a dominant performance. hasegawa is clearly the best talent in japan right now.
really? i guess kozumi was just bitter to see an uninspiring performance. not sure how much wongjonkam has left, but i'd like to see kameda knock him out if they fight.
just saw it, was very impressed with kameda, he showed great discipline through some hard spots late but wasn't flustered, would love to see him face Pong soon regardless of what latter has left
