So the ability of one fighter not to take a punch is a necessary ingredient to being a FOTY. I sure thought Martinez could get KTFO, when it looked like he fell over from exhaustion in the 11th round, but then he came back for more and traded with Williams for the last 30 seconds of the round. Or when Williams was hurt in the 1st round.

He got fucking robbed like crazy against Cintron, but he did not win this fight. Lampley and kellerman were terrible today, there was a clear agenda.

It was a close fight, that could have gone either way. Not every close fight is a robbery.

I thought that was closer to what happened than 114-114 all, but I dont see how you could give Williams 2,3, or 10.

I thought Martinez won close. All I mean is Martinez never really had a chance. That's the worst card I can ever remember/

To me the fight was a DRAW or a close decision to Martinez.

Williams had more work rate but Martinez had the harder shots.

    Let's see it AGAIN!!!

Wait, so 6-6 is closer to 10-1-1 than 8-4. Are you on crack?

    10-1-1 is closer to 9-3/8-4 than 6-6.

This was a clear win for Williams, the Martinez ball sucking was absurd

Exactly. Draw or a round or two ahead for either guy I can see. 119-110 is bs.

Yeah one judge scored Navarro vs. Mijares 120-108 Navarro. What does that mean? That they didn´t let the other two judges in on the agenda?

Two judges scoring Guzman/Funeka 114-114 a draw is an agenda. Scoring this 119-110 is just pure incompetence, but as long as judges aren´t held accountable by sanctioning bodies, promoters, TV stations or commissions, we´ll have to live with semi-blind 75 year olds, who just can´t follow the action closely enough, because it´s already past their bedtime. They simply set into a scoring pattern and follow it through.

I am talking about the momentum that was lost later in the fight. Early in the fight it looked like they could ko each other. Later I just saw two dead tired fighters throwing light punches.

I strongly disagree with the notion that was perpetuated by Kellerman and Lampley that Martinez "fell over from exhaustion." Completely inaccurate and ridiculous. You expect that kind of amateur comment from Kellerman but Lampley should know better.

Paul Williams was pushing down on his head and the clinch was dragging on so Martinez went down to a knee to stop the entire incident from being prolonged. Fighters do this. I think its smart, even tho it looks kind of weird and gives a false impression to some people that you are exhausted.

Totally agree. Try and take away looking at the high punch output and see Williams barely landed shit! When he did,it was just mostly grazes. Williams mostly hit air all night. Out of 98 punches a round that Williams threw, maybe 14 hit Martinez, and half of those were graze shots.

Martinez just didn't have the stamina that Williams had. If you get right down to it,Martinez had Williams' number the entire fight.

    Lets see this one again!:fightme:

Today was an excellent sports day. The college football games were off the hook with my Huskies coming out blasting the 19 Cal Bears. The only bad shitty thing about today was looking at Arreola's body. Fuck it's a fucking shame. I can't wait to see his fat ass cry again. Anyways great fight between Willaims and Martinez. To be honest I thought that the fight was a draw or perhaps should have gone to Martinez. Martinez in my eyes landed the cleaner harder shots. Great back and forth action though. I mean the fight kept me on the edge of my seat. For some reason I thought that Martinez was gonna land that right hook and KO Williams ass. It never happened but the fight was exciting. Who said boxing is dying! I'll Holla 5000

Good post. Great day of sports. Can't let the one scorecard ruin the evening, either way it was a legit great, well-contested fight.:hammert:

The big black spider is an excellent ambassador to the sport, and fuck anybody who doesn't appreciate him,..or gives rounds to opponents who land half of what he does on the account of them looking 'flashy' ,..scoring fights for counter-punchers with inferior workrates is detrimental to boxing.

Still, Paul needs to fight at middleweight,.. I dont like him fighting any lower.

i think williams would whup most guys at 160. not sure if he has the chin to last against pavlik, but w/ pavlik not fighting as of late, he might be able to dethrone him.

Pavlik had his chance with Williams...like three or four times. His actions speak quite loudly.

Time for Arreola to get a bra. Easy win for him as was expected. I bet his next fight hes up to a DD.

Williams/Martinez was great. I actually scored it a draw or a close decision for Martinez. Martinez definately landed the cleaner, more powerful shots. But it was a great fight.

    Arreola..............is done.

Martinez vs. Williams was a funny fight. Just watching the fight without paying attention to scoring it, it looked like Martinez was controlling the action and landing the snappier shots. Martinez looked like he got the best of Williams in the fight but if you take it round by round, Williams takes more rounds then Martinez. I think he squeaked it out in the last 2 rounds of the fight.

I think Martinez also gave away rounds to the judges with his wrestling tactics in many rounds, making it seem like he was the more tired of the two. I think Williams was actually the more tired of the two guys but he covered it up the best.

martinez did land some good shots but i though williams just was more agressive and landed more punches.

119-110 was digusting, but what else can we expect from boxing judges these days.

Sounds like Arreola talked himself into trouble with a potential Tony Thompson fight.
